My season ticket arrived in the post this morning. Very much cut-down pack compared to recent years - no pins/badges or seat sticker, no reduced programme/drinks/away travel vouchers etc, most of which I didn't use - but these have been replaced by a simple cash-builder scheme, starting with crediting your balance with 5% of your ST cost. So for me that's worth £26:50 to spend on club merchandise. And seeing as how I need a new Villa polo shirt that's a really good deal for me! Apparently have to re-register for AVTV for the year (for free again). So all in all I think that's a pretty good offering.
-
Sounds like a good idea especially for those with families attending.

Villa Cash

-
I'll probably take the option to convert the balance into Food/Drink vouchers
-
Let the customer choose - great idea!
-
This was one of the ideas suggested at the fans forum prior to the Southampton game. It was obvious that ST holders weren't using all of the vouchers in the previous scheme due to some being irrelevant too their needs when attending VP. Hopefully everyone will be able to exchange their 5% for something that they would actually like this time around!
-
This is a much better idea. I only bothered with the pie voucher before and binned the rest.
-
So excited.....might need to skip work to see if postie has been ;D
-
Ours arrived this morning.
I think the cash builder scheme is an excellent idea.
-
I'm planning on buying my ST Friday. I wanted a badge. Faulkner out!
-
Mine arrived the other day. I wanted my Pie vouchers. I like to build up my fat reserves in the autumn against the winter cold.

Take the money. Buy a pie outside the ground - much cheaper.
-
Mine arrived last Friday.
The cashbuilder thing seems a much better idea than the vouchers which I always forgot about and threw away in May!
Faulkner for President! ;-)

I had an e-mail about the seasonal £5 gift that was given to season ticket holders saying that it needed to be used by 5pm today, so I go on to the online club shop and buy myself a a AV polo shirt.
I got my 10% off it and then thought, so where does my £5 come off it then ? so I e-mailed the on-line shop at 2pm and I receive a call back at 2.45pm telling me that they are refunding £5 back to my bank !!
top service from a very helpful lady from the club shop !!

I knocked my fiver off my Malaga ticket. Will look out for my pack when I get in from work then.
-
I'm jealous - still waiting for mine :-/
-
Still not had mine, had look on the official site and it says if it hasn't been received by the 5th that the club should be contacted.

Wasn't too sure where to put this and I don't know if it is covered elsewhere:
As from yesterday, Villa will charge £2 per transaction for tickets, stadium tours etc. This is to conform to the new EU/UK legislation. What it means is that, for instance, whenever you call at the Villa ticket office to buy a ticket or tickets (as many as you want) for a game/games you have to pay £2 (a flat fee) for the transaction whether paying by cash, cheque, credit card, debit card or any other form of payment.
Has anybody else heard about this?
-
Where have you heard that? The OS still states "All Online and telephone purchases will be subject to an £2 booking fee"
-
Malaga tickets weren't. Oh, and no season pack for me yet either. The wife text me yesterday to say it had arrived but it was just my Malaga tickets.

I saw that as well. I can't remember if it was in an email or when I was lost on the OS
-
My season ticket pack arrived yesterday, I have £24.50 to spend. I'm thinking of buying a dartboard and a picture of Stephen Ireland.
-
The £2 booking fee as been in place for a while.
-
Don't forget that the pack also includes a new car sticker.
Faulkner for Pope.
-
Had my £5 from last season plus £2 for getting tickets for others so took £7 off my £10 Malaga ticket. Add that to the £1 I paid for my little one in the JVLife club and we are both going to the match for £4. Can't argue with that. Didn't charge me a booking fee either for some reason.
Well done the club.
Faulkner for Jesus
-
I got the £5 off this years season ticket which was nice.
Trouble is I have not had my pack yet, but my wife had hers three days ago..discrimination!!
-
My pack arrived this morning, in other news no bills came in the same post - like Cool or something!

Great news!
-
For those of you who (like me most of the time) don't pay much attention to marketing stuff that comes thro' from Villa, please note that there's a new Season Card in the pack.
-
Mine just arrived today can't wait for the season to start.
-
Being a season ticket holder with my son I prefer the new way. Some credit/money off the cost of his away shirt is more use than those vouchers. We don't eat or drink in the ground so I only used the programme ones.
-
Not fair not fair mine are not here yet ...end of stampy feet tantrum , I will just have to be patient I guess :(
-
I was in the shop in town earlier buying my ST. I can confirm that they have a notice up saying all ticket purchases are now subject to a £2 booking fee. That is per transaction not per ticket. Even if paying cash in person. It didn't apply to my ST though.

Paying a booking fee if paying by cash is ridiculous, especially if you're given the ticket there and then.

EU/UK regulations is the reason they mention. Could stop a few people buying tickets were money is very tight.

Sounds a strange regulation to bring in. I wonder if £2 is the least they can charge. If not, maybe charging a little less for cash bookings might be an idea.

Sounds bollocks to me. £2 per transaction is a right rip-off.

That sounds like a 'health and safety' type excuse - better to blame the government than own up to your own silly policy.
I'd love to actually see these EU/UK regulations they're referring to as I can't imagine they say you must charge £2 per transaction when selling football tickets.

On the OS. http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10265~3332938,00.html
All of Villa's ticket and event bookings will now be subject to a standard £2 booking fee, regardless of how you purchase.
This is due to the implementation of the new Consumer Protection (Payment Surcharges) Regulations 2012.
This booking fee will apply to all match, travel and event tickets, as well as bookings for stadiumtours and soccer schools.
That is whether you are paying by credit/debit card, cash or cheque.
However, this booking fee will only apply once during your transaction.
This means that whether you buy one ticket or twenty tickets during the same booking, you will still pay just £2.
The standard £2 booking fee will come into effect on all bookings made through Villa Consumer Sales on Thursday August 1 and will apply to any booking via the ticket office, city centre store, phone lines or the online ticket office.

That's really helpful - thanks.
My reading of those regulations is that they're designed to stop traders from making profits out of transaction fees - ie where transaction fees are charged they can't be more than the actual cost of processing that transaction. If anything, what the club have done here would seem to go against those regulations.
Like I said, I think this is a crap excuse to just charge more money and has conveniently happened in a year when ticket prices have been 'held'!!
-
That was my take on it as well Adam, although as someone who is far from an expert in such things I was hoping someone more knowledgeable would have a better interpretation.
A shit money grabbing exercise in my opinion, especially considering the new TV contract. That £2 is nothing to the Villa, to someone where money is very tight it is something.
-
So on the one hand, legislation has been introduced to stop Companies charging whatever they want for transaction/booking fees on debit/credit card transactions, thereby protecting the consumer, then the club just find a way round it by introducing a charge for cash payments, insisting that their hand was forced by regulations.
You could say it's only two quid, but I think that's really sneaky.
-
Adam and Pete's take on it is similar to how I read it. It seems to me they're doing this because they can not because they have to.
-
Incidentally my wife is the financial controller for a well known local theatre and they never have charged and have no immediate plans to introduce booking fees on any of their ticket sales, regardless of type or location of payment.
-
An admittedly quick and basic Google search has brought up only one club who are doing this that I can see. I hope i'm wrong.
-
Incidentally my wife is the financial controller for a well known local theatre and they never have charged and have no immediate plans to introduce booking fees on any of their ticket sales, regardless of type or location of payment.
Not meaning to contradict you Adam, but most of the theatre bookings I make come with a booking fee, usually £2. RSC, Hippodrome, Malvern Theatres certainly do this.
-

Depends where you buy tickets from - buy them through a Ticketmaster or a See Tickets and you'll pay a fee but I absolutely guarantee that the theatre my wife works for do not make any charge if you buy from them direct. And they have no intention of changing as a result of these regulations.
-
I've just had another quick look at the regs and I actually think what the club are doing here is adding the same fee to cash payments so that they don't have to follow the regulations.
The regulations only apply where a charge is applied for certain methods of payment. So the club had two choices, either follow the regs with card payments (and probably reduce their charges) or add the charge to all forms of payment. In the second case it effectively becomes a ticket price increase.
I think it's pretty disgusting how the club has communicated this. Do they think their fans are dumb?
-
I hope Maccie Ds arent going to start these transaction fees.
-
Still waiting on season ticket to arrive, anyone else?

I always book direct through the theatres and charges seem the norm. Haven't booked anything at the Rep for ages for obvious reasons, but will be doing so soon when it re-opens. I'll keep a closer eye on this from now on. I honestly thought it was pretty much standard practice. Well done to your wife's lot for not jumping on the bandwagon.

Still waiting on season ticket to arrive, anyone else?
Me too
Me three

Me four
-
Mine arrived a few days ago but not the better halfs!
-
I like cash. Coupons were waste of space.
-
That transaction fee sounds pretty outrageous.
Charging an extra £2 to sell someone a ticket over the counter?
-
The transaction fee is unfair for counter transactions. It seems a horrible way to treat fans who have driven all the way to VP to purchase a ticket. Do other clubs do that?
Has the Club given an explanation for this imposition?
-
how many ST have we sold so far?
-
Is this going to apply to the "Villa Special" bus service? hiking the price from £6 to £8 even if there's no increase in the fare this year?
Edit: just found this: (http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/VillaSpecialBuses) :(
-
Got mine on Friday. Like the idea of Villa cash on my season card. Easy to use.
-
Mine arrived over a week ago but my lads still hasn't. Bizarre system they've got.
-
That 2 pound booking fee with a cash sale is unacceptable.
-
Mine arrived over a week ago but my lads still hasn't. Bizarre system they've got.
Same here...there must be a reason that I fail to understand!
-
That 2 pound booking fee with a cash sale is unacceptable.
Yes this is the bit that annoys me most. I can possibly understand that credit card payments attract a charge to the club and they want to recoup that however paying cash to handover your cash is bizzare!
Can we take opinion from this forum and let the Club know how we feel about this?
-
That 2 pound booking fee with a cash sale is unacceptable.
It's seriously taking the piss.
-
It's another one of those occasions, when you realise the club don't give a shit. I won't be buying anything else from the club.
-
It happens every time.
Just when I have conjured enough denial and excuses to convince myself the club loves the fans really, they come up with something like this.
They just can't help themselves.
-
I suppose the club will argue that the ST holders cashback thing has to come from somewhere.
-
Hang on, so is there anyway of buying a ticket now from the club direct without attracting a £2 fee ?? Is that a flat £2 or £2 per ticket ?? Either way they are taking the proverbials .
-
It's per transaction, so if you buy 10 tickets, you still pay £2. Still taking the piss though.
-
And no, you can't avoid it. Unless you buy a ST. I wasn't charged the £2 when I bought mine Friday.
-
This website should start a petition and send it to Mr Faulkner.
-
And no, you can't avoid it. Unless you buy a ST. I wasn't charged the £2 when I bought mine Friday.
I don't think the charge had come in on Friday, I know when I bought my Malaga tickets on Tuesday, I was told that the charges hadn't started yet.
I expect there aren't many people who will pay for their season ticket in cash, so you'd probably be looking at card fees anyway for that one.
-
There was a sign on the counter saying "From August 1st" yada yada. And I paid cash for mine.
-
But you are a wheeler dealer Mr PWS! What about the rest of us shrinking violets?
-
Will they do this for the Tickets for Schools initiative I wonder?
-
But you are a wheeler dealer Mr PWS! What about the rest of us shrinking violets?
Never make it easy for them to know what you are doing with your money. They are always monitoring us.
-
No email from the club with my new AVTV code. Really is a bit daft to have the subs end during the friendlies and then not have a way of sending out a new code to anyone who doesn't buy their ST 3 years in advance.
-
It happens every time.
Just when I have conjured enough denial and excuses to convince myself the club loves the fans really, they come up with something like this.
They just can't help themselves.
That's a bit unfair. Much of what they do is customer-friendly and if there was a list of the most ethically sound clubs in the Premier League (if that's not too much of a contradiction in terms) Villa would be a lot nearer the top than the bottom. That's what makes this move so annoying - it's like something that would have been dreamed up in the darkest catchpenny days of the Ellis era.
-
Surely, they could find a way of linking your ST purchase with AVTV, so your code never expires.
-
Surely, they could find a way of linking your ST purchase with AVTV, so your code never expires.
You'd think so, but when I double checked the email I had on file they told me an email address that was 5 years out of date. They then said they had the correct address on another system.
-
I think one of the issues is, villa have IT systems that don't talk to one another.
-

go with cash to the ticket office ask for your ticket, when they are trying to get 2 quid off them tell them you are not prepared to pay it.If enough people tell them NO they might have a rethink.
This sort of payment reminds me of the charges Pornodwarf tried down the shit and they hated him for it.

They advertise tickets at £2 more per transaction and operate a £2 on the spot cut price per transaction to buyers. That way, they get to decide whether they send money (£2 per transaction) to wherever or not and fans pay the same.
-

What do you suggest?
Buy ticket(s) with cash and pay your £2.
Go into club shop, pick up item(s) worth slightly more than £2.
Think about buying it for sentiment sake.
Put it back and walk out the shop.
Call it a draw.
-
Its ok moaning about it but how about some action.
What do you suggest?
Maybe people should tweet the club or leave comments on the facebook page. With social media the way it is, it will get picked up and the club might want to avoid any negative stories in the press.
-
Let's have a protest outside the Trinity Road gates with some crappy posters printed on A4 paper so no one can see what they say.
That worked so well last time.
-
Contact Nicola Keyes.
-
A £2 surcharge / tax on any cash transaction is a disgrace!! Whilst I like the idea of people gathering together in the queue as a collective to work around this, it is still a £2 charge that should not be paid and therefore £2 too much. It's an absolute piss take and for some people to say it's not worth worrying about as it is only half a pint, for someone working on the minimum wage it's 20 minutes work deducted from them for no reason. As has been suggested social media maybe the best option as companies don't like the negative press. When there was a problem with our water in our flat and we couldn't successfully get hold of the water company to get it resolved - when the issue was tweeted the company got back to my girlfriend in minutes.
-
So i have to pay £2.00 on top on my ticket i was going to buy saturday .If thats the case i wont be going complete rip of

Faulkner Live Chat now scheduled for Monday August 12
http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10265~3338171,00.html
Paul Faulkner is next up in our Live Chat series - but the Q&A will now take place later than scheduled.
Villa chief executive Faulkner will now converse with fans online on Monday August 12, from 6pm-7pm, rather than the original Wednesday August 7.
Now is your chance to quiz the club's chief executive on a wide array of claret and blue issues.
Or deluge him with questions on one issue ?

What if its the wrong answer? If Jeremy Paxman asks whats the capital of Belgium on University Challenge he won't give points to a team that says Bromley.
-
Been onto the ticket office this morning and was told that the £2 charge was because of Government regulation!? Does anyone know of such draconian rulings and if not I have to feel sorry for the staff at the Ticket office if they have not been briefed on how to handle such queries.

There's a difference between an answer which is factually incorrect, and an answer which someone doesn't like.
"Bromley is the capital of Belgium" = factually incorrect.
"We aren't signing any more players" = factually correct according to the CEO, but not going to please anyone.

By the time you have read all that you will probably miss the Malaga game and save the price of a ticket and the booking fee.

As the goverment guide says
But if there is the same charge no matter what the payment method is then the amount is not restricted by the Regulations.
This means the £2 charge is Mr Faulkner's choice so he really shouldnt blame others for putting an extra £2 on to cover 50p worth of costs.

Just had to get a ticket for a colleague for the Liverpool game in the Trinity - £47. Being a season ticket holder, I don't tend to notice how individual ticket prices have crept up but that is a lot of money.
-
Wow! Mr Faulkner dont need the official site if this what the fanzines are like.
We are totally unbiased.

I can imagine hes read at least 20182 of them.

36 posts in and you're already wondering about the independence of this site and picking rucks about nothing.

Offering jobs on zero hours contracts and now an excessive tax on tickets. When do they start fracking under the Holte?
-
I apologise, I do get a bit excited about Villa matters but I cant see why this site shouldnt be actively campaigning to get this unnecessary charge quashed. I really did think thats what fanzines are for.
-
That's okay. Unlike MOMS, not everything we do is done in the public eye.

When I discovered this site I thought it was just a bunch of middle aged self opinionated Guardian reading real ale supping moaners who pedantically pick up on any grammar, spelling or punctuation errors you make and then rip the piss out of you just for a laugh.
If I knew it was an actively campaigning political pressure group I would never have joined.
-
If its any of the things you say Im surprised anybodys joined.

Its not all those things, some of us read the Telegraph instead.

I thought that this was the Official Programme.

No, fanzines turn fans' banter and opinions into a saleable commodity.

Is there a transaction charge?

Banter is banned on here. As are all traces of humour.

Villacash looks decent.
£26.50 to spend already, that's not a bad deal imo
Better than the vouchers ... again, imo !

ST still not arrived, anyone else the same?

ST still not arrived, anyone else the same?
I'm just going to ring the ST office
Will report back
-
My sons still hasn't arrived yet mine came weeks ago. Work that one out ?
-
Typical got mine but my sons hasn't appeared. Time to call....
-
Mine arrived today, along with my Gold badge so I can "stand out from the crowd" apparantly.
I also think the Villa Cash thing looks like a great idea. The credit already on mine will pay for a Malaga ticket for me and my 4 year old son, who'll be making his first trip to VP this Saturday!
-
Gold Badge ?
-
You only get a gold badge after ten successive years as a season ticket holder.

Does it look like a medal?
Has it got "For Valour" inscribed on it? ;-)

I've got one, it comes with a supply of Prozac.

Does the ST pack include a prayer mat again this year ?

As I have re-located it may be later.
Only worry in about 10 days the lad said.
If not received by then call the ST office and they will issue a paper ticket.
I have however been credited with my Villa Cash!
-
Wow! Mr Faulkner dont need the official site if this what the fanzines are like.
I guess you are too young to remember the days when Doug Ellis was the editor?
-
We relocated seats, the season ticket packs arrived last week, didn't pay too much attention. Packs delivered again today, with the new seat numbers/rows. Hadn't realised we'd been sent the wrong tickets.
-
I tweeted @AVFCofficial today with my views and hash tagged #avfc and #ripoff. I suggest if enough people did something similar then perhaps the club would have to comment further.
-
Not received mine yet either although i did renew quite near the deadline. I'll give it another few days before I ring.
-
The Villa cash thing is a good idea. I haven't looked into too much mind. Can I use it on scoff on a non match day at the restaurant?

It's dangerously close to enjoyment, and that will never be tolerated here.

Wasn't that Herbert's mission statement before Randy told us the future was orange or something?

No, he told us never to borrow a half-sold orange or invent the banana, or something.

Have the junior packs been sent out yet? - VCTM jnr has yet to receive his season card
-
Same here. Got mine over a week ago but not my sons. Are they sending junior season tickets out afterwards or should I give them a ring. My son is very worried at the moment!

Gave them a call today as I haven't yet received mine or my sons. The chap said that the junior tickets are only just being sent out & should be received next week. Also said not to worry & call them by the 17th if nothing arrives.
-
Cheers.
-
Wait till the 17th >:(
I have been on egg shells for the past week. Assume 'family' tickets should be sent out as 1 pack?
-
Still not received mine either but our first home game is not until the 24th so there's still plenty of time.
-
Sounds too good to be true personally, but on the online ticket office, ST's shown available as....
Doug Ellis – 109 seats available
Uppper – 37
Lower - 72
Holte – 1394 seats available
Upper – 1098
Lower – 296
Trinity - 555 seats available
Upper – 418
Middle – 129
Lower – 8
North - 598 seats available
Upper – 415
Lower – 183
Total = 2656 seats available to purchase online
(Not sure if they have had to remove the seats where tickets have been bought for Liverpool/Newcastle game as the ST would not be able to use their seat for that game?)
-
so we are getting cash back on our season tickets.
what is the point a £2 booking fee will take that away.
So in reality Villa are giving us nothing but our own money back which we have to spend at the club shop.

I suppose it depends on how many tickets you buy throughout the season. I normally do around 15 away games so in my case yes.

except you don't have to spend it at the club shop. You can spend it on match tickets - so its a proper little money go round! ......but maybe not such a big loss for he customer as first thought.

My lads pack arrived today, roughly 3 weeks after mine did.

I phoned the club yesterday and was told they are now being despatched - Like all contact centres these days the operator countered with "is there anything else I can help you with?" - I replied - "do you do ironing?" you could hear the tumbleweed at the end of my phone :)
-
Mine arrived yesterday.
-
I bought mine a week ago and my pack hasn't arrived yet. Lambert out!
-
Hey, got mine now..with a gold badge for 10 years a season ticket holder!
Proud?
Course I am!!

My lads arrived Monday 12th Aug, two or three weeks after mine. What is the little Hercules thing? Couldn't work out if it was a pencil top, a clip on badge or something to do with the cape???
