They've had a difficult day.
They need a striker. Maybe we could put together a list of suggestions and send it to Daniel Levy? Or someone even higher up their foodchain, say an ITK from Glory Glory?
I'll start.
Kevin Doyle
Jozy Altidore - scratch that one, signed for Sunderland
Danny Graham - scratch that one, too, gone to Hull
Jordan Bowery - scratch him, too, they'll know by now we don't sell them our players
Gary Hooper - although he already plays for a big club.
Zigic?
-
Is Kevin Francis still playing?
-
Stayvie Bull.
-
They have Clive Dempsey, they'll be reet.
-
Bosko Balaban has potential
-
They obviously want a big striker who can link play, does Ivanhoe like London?
-
Shane Long must be wondering what the fuck he's done to deserve his new strike partner.
-
Odemwingie?
-
Emily Heskey , Michael owen
-
It'd just be like Tottenham to go from almost signing a brick shithouse like Benteke to bringing in Odemwingie instead.
-
Darren Bent
-
What is Marlon Harewood up to these days?
-
Isn't Can't Control looking for a new club?
-
Well I think you're all being very catty. For a franchise as big as Spurs its got to be Messi. Let's be realistic here.
-
I'm all for giving youngsters employment opportunities. Most of the time. The most arrogant little scum bag I've ever worked with supported Spurs. He was IT literate but made the mistake of making out Twitter was some kind of high tech science. Whilst not a Twitter aficionado, knowing lots of footballers tweet makes me think it's not rocket science. Never was I so happy to tell someone their fixed term contract would not be renewed, and that's not like me. Normally.
-
David Villa. Oh, hold on... Erm...
David Guest?
-
A friend of my missus is a Spurs fan, and when he found out I hated Spurs, he asked me why. It was difficult, for the sake of a pleasant evening, to narrow it down. Eventually, I settled on saying 'Mark Falco'.
-
They could try and hijack the Danny Graham move.
-
Gary Doherty.
-
Marlon King is available.......
-
Well I think you're all being very catty. For a franchise as big as Spurs its got to be Messi. Let's be realistic here.
I don't think Messi could handle the goldfish bowl pressure of being at a big club like Spurs.

No way could he be the water carrier for a franchise that big.

Who are Wigan selling?
-
What's Rob Hulse doing these days?
-
Who are Wigan selling?
The first team.
But they've already signed for Everton.
-
Who are Wigan selling?
Let's ask Dave Whelan.
-
Spurs need to sign a big-name forward.
Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink.
-
Can i just say, with regards to the thresd title. Fuck right off spurs. Be nice ? Not a bloody chance. UTV
-
David Villa. Oh, hold on... Erm...
David Guest?
You are on the right track. He might be carrying a bit more timber but as we were told he's spurs and he knows he is
-
I'm braced for a bid for Benteke.
I'm very, very worried right now.
-
Who are Wigan selling?
Franco Di Santo.
-
Always liked him, surely perfect for Spurs. Sorted.
-
At ve end ov ve daaay, vay shudda bin maaantin a waid instead ov prepawin a bid.
Ve mappets, ve slaygs, ve maaags.
-
Gustavo Bartelt. He comes with the John Gregory seal of (dis)approval.
-
Lets be nice to Spurs. Lets admire their ambition compare to more successful teams such as Huddersfield.
-
David Villa. Oh, hold on... Erm...
David Guest?
David Blaine, as the hidden striker.
And he's good in the box.
You are on the right track. He might be carrying a bit more timber but as we were told he's spurs and he knows he is
-
I really, really, really, really, really, really, really hope they don't sign Zigic. Doing a cracking job where he is, slowly bleeding them dry.
-
They drew 0-0 with Colchester tonight
**snigger**
-

Mr. Levy would wait until 31 August so that he could sign Messi for a 'fair' price. £100m today, down to £14m + add ons by 31 August. Just you watch......
-
Cant remember who said it. ....wouldn't sell that mob a virus. Fuck em.

We did, in 1986.

Brilliant idea for a thread.
Unfortunately all the best suggestions are taken, but I'm sure Kenwynne Jones has had enough of being in and out of the team at Stoke.
They must be kicking themselves at the thought that the Benteke farrago has meant that the likes of Carroll, Kone or Anelka have slipped under their radar.
-
Bet they'll end up with Torres. In fact, I might even put money on it.
-
It must be hard for them to concentrate on signing any player, what with them about to lose their manager.
Maybe best stick with Adebayor. I reckon he'll be proper fired up for the new season, watching them courting Benteke for weeks.
-
Players will flo ck to want to join them knowing they're only interested because they couldn't afford the one they wanted.
-
Players will flo ck to want to join them knowing they're only interested because they couldn't afford the one they wanted.
It's the Spurs way.
-
I work with a spurs fan ......
He is a c***
That is all
-
It's probably the first time in my life that i'm disappointed I don't know a Spurs fan. On the plus side, I don't know any Spurs fans.
-
I work with several spuds fans, what do you call a collection of c....s? Oh yes.................................................. Small heath alliance
-
Got to be Carlton Palmer. Even though he wasn't a striker.
-
Zigic is actually a good shout for them.
He would be cheap, wages not a problem for them and is still unfeasibly a striker.
-
I've got two good mates who are Tottenham fans. Neither thought they could afford Benteke.
-
Is Daniel Levy still ensconsed in Tottenham's purpose built bunker of bid preparation? Has anybody told him?
-
Rumour doing the rounds here is that Spurs are after Sporting striker Manuel Joao Fernandes. No fee is mentioned but Sporting hope that by the time DAvid Levy at Spurs finalises the business, under UEFA rules, having brought him through their famous Academy and with a handful of first team appearances, Sporting can receive a decent fee for their current U12 striker.
-
Spuds in for Bent. If they can lower the 8m asking price
-
Clive Allen is available.
-
Clive Allen is available.
They couldn't afford Dave Allen.
-
What's Harry Redknapp's Missus up to. Apparently she is better than their last decent (and our fourth choice) striker
-
Flavor Flav. If the deal is running close to the deadline, he can show levy the big kitchen clock hanging round his neck.
-
Let's be nice to Spurs but you lot are mean.
I hope they can get Nicola Berti.
-
Jimmy Greaves would do a job for them
-
2 league titles in 130 years. I've never understood why their fans walk around as if they're Charlie big bollox
-
I was out last night to see Derren Brown with some mates (amazing as always)
My spurs supporting mate quipped about how well benteke was going to so for them next year. I enjoyed the subsequent couple of minutes very much
-
I would have thought four second half goals against them on their own patch would have encouraged them to go for Tony Hateley.
-
Spurs suck my bell end you useless North London wankers
-
Well, thank **** for that. When you are a Villa fan, cut adrift from your home base, you have to take what's on offer.
Nicosia, Cyprus is not a tourist city and living here means you have very few options to go out and watch AV on a big screen in a bar. Won't darken the door of the 'The Mighty Reds YNWA'/Man U/Arse Supporters Bars - unbearable.
Normally end up in the Spurs Bar with my best mate who is Mr Spurs personified (who was reeled in as a kid by Blanchflower magic). The prospect of sitting with a bunch of Greek Cypriot, English Cypriot, Brit expats and squadies on tour of duty holler'in CB on, poncing around the field in a white shirt was too much to contemplate. Enough to drive you off the island.
Welcome back CB, glad you never really went away....
-
We could loan them Callum Robinson and Mikey Drenen to give them some game time ;)
-
Geoffrey Boycott's Grandma and a stick of rhubarb.
Or should that be in another thread?
Perhaps somebody can ask in PM questions - who they should go for - would be nice to hear DC say he doesn't give a toss but they haven't got our beast! Deserves to be in Hansard.
-
This is the problem for the massive glamour clubs like Spurs, little minnow clubs like Villa constantly chipping away at them. Crouchy it's time for the prodigal son to head for the Lane.
:o
-
I cannot force myself to be nice about Spurs even in an ironic or smug way.
-
Fuck 'em!
(smily face)
-
I sincerely hope we give them two sound beatings this season; victory against them is long overdue.
It would be nice to see them go into next season with the same strikers as last, minus Bale.
-
All is not lost Spurs fans, Simon Dawkins will be available for you next season. Heard he can do a job up top.
-
Thanks for the links to spurs comments people. Funniest script I've ever read.
-
"Play the Spurs way", what does that even mean.
Having to pay Jenas's wages for a year when injured still annoys me.
Alan Hutton.
Just a few things that mark them out as a team to truly despise.
I hope we sign Benteke's best mate now Chadli [also a Spurs target] and we absolutely turn them over at Villa Park.
Sorry nothing nice to say about them.
-
Lets just sign Bale.
That would be fun.
-
The nicest thing I can say about them is that I've been reading their forums for the past few days and they've given me some hearty chuckles. Where on earth do they get their ludicrous sense of superiority from?
-
Just having a look at the Spurs forums. :D and saw this GIF halfway down the page (couldn't work out how to post it here, sorry)

I honestly am heartbroken for them deluded spurs fans...
I've heard that Ricky Otto is looking for a new challenge.
Quality player for a quality club.. Take em to that next level
-
Levy on hearing we wouldn't drop the price for his massive franchise.
-
Surely the most deluded fans around?
I wouldn't be surprised if we still buy him - new contract just means a new release clause
-
I love the ways Spurts think they are a massive club. If they ere anywhere else in the country, other than London, they would be a very average club with an average attendance of 38,000 average people. Their fans are deluded. They only have one player. In the shadow of Arsenal forever. The end.
-

New release clause which would say that unless you pay what Aston Villa want for the player, then you can't buy him. No negotiation, no fannying around, no offering fat, useless clowns in part exchange. Pay the price or fuck off. Simples. Villa cannot lose in this. That's even if there is a clause. If there isn't a clause, everything I have just said is bollocks, so forgive me. Spurs are still shit. I feel better now.
-
Must have been tough on them when Chelsea pushed them down to third biggest club in London. Also with all their huffing and puffing they still can't buy a trophy.
-
Let's replace the Petrov 19th minute with a 20th minute applause to commemorate the 20th of July, the day David Levy finally agreed terms with a club (for FC Twente winger Nacer Chadli).
Well done, David.

Indeed, props to the master negotiator, or 'Young Doug' as he likes to be known.

Maybe we should nip in and nick him ;D
-
Part of me would find it funny if Thieverpool signed Soldado instead of them. Would serve them right for pissing around over every transfer deal, trying to penny-pinch.

their ground only holds 36000 they do fill it and have more that want to come
but they are not as big as they like to think they are.
and contrary to popular belief always played good football , The Spurs way >:(
-
in Cambridge we are infested with Spurs fans.......you cannot talk to them about football as their default to any question about any other team is "they're shit"
it is difficult to have any type of debate over football with them, when one of "the yid army" tells a stunned collection of various football fans in the pub that Spurs were the first club to win the double and actually was shocked to find out that two other teams had already completed said double before they were even a professional football club.
oh and they always win the cup when there is a one in the year.....twats.

There's a circus in the town, in the town
Daniel Levy is a clown, is a clown
Christian Benteke is staying at Villa park
............................................................

I personally don't think there's much between ourselves, Spurs and Everton, with Man U, Liverpool and Arsenal all ahead. I don't actually dislike Tottenham as a club, it's their fans that piss me off. The amount of spurs fans who think they're up with Man U is scary.
Regardless I'll never dislike Spurs as much as I dislike Chelsea, fucking vile little club with no history until they came into some big money and now they try to act like they're not just Millwall with a bank balance.
Just read Dr Butler's post - The worst thing about spurs fans is the '1 in the year' shit they come out with, that the press join in with that crap is even more annoying.

???
Bollocks to that.

Try again Villa Mole, 1882, 1883, 1884, 1885, 1886, etc all the way up to 1999. then 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013,

Spurzzz seem to think 'why bother with strikers when you can sign 5000 midfielders instead'.

And if you're being pedantic like that then you've missed out 2001 (when they didn't win it either)

Some Spurs fans appear to still think Benteke is a possible signing for them... the word 'deluded' springs to mind.
-
oh and they always win the cup when there is a one in the year.....twats.
-
Without doubt my least favourite team and fans - both horrible. I could not be nice about them at any price.
I've posted before that if I had three football wishes they would be that Spurs get relegated three times in sucession.

As a Cambridge native I can vouch for this. It's utterly unbearable.
-
I have never forgiven them for That L.C.Final !
Big nose Chivers ruined our Wembley, despite being in Div 3 we outplayed them, out sung them.
They have always been pretenders, their own view of their importance is shared by very few outside of a few sheltered locations (Cambridge sounds about right)
-
I used to live amongst them in North London. Total and utter c***ts.
-
Spurs are really becoming a laughing stock now, even in the media. Valencia were expecting them to meet Soldado's £26m buy-out clause and were only talking to them on that basis. Then when it comes down to it, they can't put their money where their mouth is and talks break down. Sound familiar?
Add in the Bale stuff having missed out on David Villa and Christian Benteke and they really are looking like idiots.
-
All the hallmarks of a Levy approach to transfer dealing; dickhead!

Haha these clowns are always ITK on things but get it so spectacularly wrong. Also they have such a chip on shoulder about arsenal its unbelievable, west ham and chelsea fans find spurs intolerable because of spurs own deluded visions of world beaters. Always a team who could play even the best of the park then lose to a team they claim they should be. That divine right - gosh where's that from! - always see them never as a major contender for league as lack a consistentcy and temperament to perform and excel. The club and fans start to believe the media hype and they implode. Same as the many potential decent players that have been at the club in prem league years. Lack substance character and nothing but a club that media and ex players like an example of the money in game that show up a squad thtas only recently produced any young players ! I hope bale goes !
-
....and breathe.....
-
Hahhaaha they lost their star player and they lost today !!! Oh and Benteke stayed !!! with the bigger club ;)
-
in your face assholes
-
Watching them today, they had tons of possession and looked comfortable with it, but absolutely nothing up front.
Soldado might adapt well to the English game, but I can't help thinking they should have bought someone ready to go.
Benteke would have been perfect.
-
Themselves and Everton could struggle this year. I mean, they might drop out of the top six.
-
F**K 'em!
:D
-
How many games last season were Spurs going nowhere when Bale turned the game? These signings might well work out (eventually) but they may not be game changers in the sense that Bale has been for them. They are improving in terms of keeping the ball which makes it harder to score against them but they're going to be lacking cutting edge quite a lot by the looks of it.
-
Rumour is that they are going for Ince tomorrow too. I think when they settle, with Eriksen and Lamela in there too they will be a formidable outfit.
Wouldn't mind Sigurdson off them though!
-
How many midfielders is it possible for one club to have?
6,000 options in midfield and two or three unconvincing ones up front.
-
Spurs have always binged on midfielders.
-
Sandro, Capoue, Townsend, Holtby, Sigurdson, Eriksen, Lennon, Paulinho, Chadli, Carroll, Dembele.
Quite a few isn't it! I would love Sigurdson off them.
