Title: Arse ticks
Post by: Chico Hamilton III on July 16, 2013, 04:23:09 PM
Having just received the bombshell that is the reduced allocation to supporters' clubs, I'm on here begging for reference numbers for Arsenal. I know the ticket details aren't up on the club site yet, but if anyone knows they won't be able to make the Emirates but wants to donate their reference number, please let me know. I'm after a couple, to be honest.

Thanks very much!!!

I feed you a line and after 3 days that's the best anyone can come up with? Standards on here are slipping....

Any road up, thanks for the responses from those of you offering their ref numbers - I'll PM each of you over the next day or so. I should be sorted now for the refs/tickets now though.

I should add that this is probably not the last time I'll be on here begging for scraps this season.

Cheers everyone!

Are you a Kingston Lions member by any chance? They've cut our allocation from 20 to 6 this season!

If anyone has a spare booking reference for this game I could borrow I'd be eternally grateful.

Did the club give a reason for the reduction ?

Yep, the Kingston Lions have been decimated.

Not sure why, Kingthing does all the hard work in terms of sorting out tickets. He'll be able to tell you why. It's going to be a tough season for getting tickets.

edit - we must have met, SW9 Villa?

Probably due to the furore that occurred when the Wigan tickets sold out in minutes and quite a few branches missed out.

We missed out on Wigan tickets as well. Ended up having to pay a whopping 30 quid each to get them from an "alternative source".

Guess I'll have to sit in the home end for this one again.

Might not be a bad thing, last two seasons been in the away end and we've lost both whereas was undercover in the home end from 2007-11 and we won twice and drew one of the four games.

I've massively messed up by not arranging a ticket for this.
If anyone knows someone who can no longer make the game, please let me know - even if you only find out at short notice.  i am looking for 1 ticket.

thanks, in advance.  Ian

Likewise, have asked before and will ask again no doubt...but after a ticket for myself, will also be able to go at short notice. (disappointed but not surprised didn't go beyond (or even get to!) STs).

I've been trying to get through the barrier that is the lions clubs websites for ages, sorry to hear their allocations reduced, I have to confess it is/was the chief motivation for joining one, having not been to arsenal away since Highbury. I used to live right next to it and usually saw them more often (against villa often home & away) than all the gooners I worked with in East London...

SoccerHQ do the home tix usually go on sale to non-members ?

Paying £50+ adds to my pessimism about going to Chelsea, but more achievable I guess!

I think I might get lynched if I put this on the HD bit of the site but do us London based Villa fans actually meet in real life as opposed to on the internet?  It's bad enough living most of my love life via the internet without football.

I'm keen to get to some games this year, and have previously travelled solo, however if there are people going to the pub/catching trains together then I'd be keen to join in.

The Kingston Lions have good meet ups, but after the reduction in ticket allocation I don't know if as many will be able to get tickets from other sources now. I think a few of us are meeting up somewhere before the Arsenal game if you have a ticket?

The legendary meet up was in the Marylebone Tup in about 2008, when over 20 of us from H&V were in the back room to see us draw 2-2 with Liverpool on the telly. Superb night that was.

I looked on the London Lions thing on H&V, but the most recent posts were years old.  If/when such meet ups take place then it'd be cool to know (where to look).  I might pop up to Islington for the Arsenal game anyway as I used to live up there and there are loads of pubs that need a re-visit.

Are the Kingston Lions on the list of sub folders on here?  (nae dramas, I'll check after sending this)

There was a much bigger lovely proper literary lions event way way back - hmmm i just googled...it was 2001 (!!)  with Simon Inglis and Richard Whitehead  where i collected addresses and set up a yahoo list that was superseded by the London thing on here. I'm afraid multiple commitments have meant i rarely meet up, but have met some great and very generous folk here...

[edit: sorry saw the replies already...guess it'd still be good to get that bit of this site going again as beyond the official lions clubs which I've had a mare trying to join, it's the most likely place new folk would look?]

Has anyone in the away scheme got their tickets yet? I was told three days ago that mine had been posted but it has still not arrived. I have just spoken to the ticket office and been told that none of the away scheme have been sent out yet and the information I was wrong i.e. because I am in the away scheme the system shows my ticket as processed even though it might not have been (think some training is required!).

Normally I wouldn't be too bothered but had exactly the same issues with the Wigan game last season and had to pick a ticket up at Wigan only to get in the ground and find the seat occupied by another person with exactly the same ticket as me (other away scheme members).

If any other away scheme members have got their tickets yet I would be grateful if you could let me know as I don't want a repeat performance. Thanks in advance.

I don't think they do, generally they seem to spread the tickets around subject to size of allocation etc. The ticket office does seem to be slipping back into it's old ways recently, the people that I have spoken to this week do not seem to have any interest or understanding as to why going to an away game without a ticket might be a problem. They have clearly given frank and me completely different information as I was told (at 11.30) that no away scheme tickets would be posted until Monday.

I assume so

No Frank, they haven't.  Jon phoned VP and they said that Arsenal had been late sending them out.

Mine hasn't arrived yet. Although that may be because I haven't bought one. Hope that helps.

That doesn't explain why those not in the away scheme have already got theirs!

Jon has just told me that someone we know, not in the away scheme, has received theirs.  No idea what the problem is.

Particularly annoying because I'm working abroad this week and have passed on my ticket to a friend. Now he'll have to collect a duplicate from the Emirates on the day.

Maybe the club has finally realised that "The Away Scheme" is an organised gang of hooligans and decided to deny them tickets.

This is why I've yet to meet up with Villajk & DCF, they're always a couple of streets away scrapping with members for the local firm

Haha.  Yeah, we're really hardcore, us.  Bovver boots polished ready for Saturday.  Be afraid Arse fans, be very afraid.

Arrived home just now eagerly checked the post and still no envelope from VP. A phone call to TO first thing tomorrow is required I think.

By the way, when I lived near the ground there were a few pubs on blackstock road which used to show the matches live on TV.

My brother's mate has just pulled out so there's 1 spare ticket for the Villa end.

PM me and I'll send you his number for arrangements - probably to pick up from outside the ground around an hour before kickoff

Price is face value (£35)
