I remember that goal against Sunderland, he won me £34.

Thank you Dave, that is a wonderful piece.
As I read the piece, I was reminded of how crucial Stan has been in the post MON period. He was incredible in that 1-0 home win against Everton in August 2010 and was a real source of stability that season. Also, he was playing some of his best stuff under TSM just before his illness. He scored some real scorchers last season and those goals probably kept us up. We have missed him an awful lot since he became ill.
Stan, a great villa captain. All the best in your recovery.

That's a lovely piece, Dave. I think it captures a lot of what's great about him as a player and - to the extent that us fans who don't know him personally can tell - as a man.
