...Ill leave it at that as there's nothing on him, but congratulations Gabriel Agbonlahor. :)
-
Billy Walker wants a recount.
-
All time Premier League scorer, but none the less well done Gabby he was great in the second half.
-
I forgot the important "premier league" thingy..... :P
-
Yes, well done Gabby, 61 goals overtakes Yorke's 60. Reckon Benteke will have beaten that this time next season though!
-
Well done, took him a while
-
Well done gabby
-
Well done to Gabby, thought he was excellent tonight, constantly harassing Sunderland players.
-
Lets hope in 3 or 4 seasons you hit a ton Gabby boy
-
Looks like old gabby well done
-
I love the guy. He just gives everything, all the time
-
well deserved. After a truly horrific 2012 it's great to see him come back as strongly as he has this year. I think it's pretty important to note that he's looking a lot more agile again, MoN trying to turn him into Carew2 has caused him a lot of issues but he's looking happy now in a position that suits him really well.
-
Congratulations.
Gabby can get the crowd going like no other player.
Hope he can do it for many games to come as well!
-
Well done, took him a while
What he said. Should have beaten it years ago.
-
Well done Gabby, shame I missed it, "I'm PWS, I was having a piss" still, if you're ever going to miss a goal, the 6th when you've already seen 5 isn't the worst.
-
Useless. Messi will score 61 in a single season. Sell!
Congrats Gabby. You love the club and we love you too.
-
Fitting with the title, Benteke is also our top scorer in a single season in the Prem, with 18. One more than Yorke. Phenomenal. Well done to both.

I'd back him to make it to 20, he's the best striker in the league in 2013, 13 in 15 in that period (i.e. since we started playing Weimann and Gabby either side of him). If we keep all 3 fit and playing next year I reckon they'll bag 50+ between them, it's crazy that we've got a strike force like this but are struggling at the wrong end of the table.

Gabby, the most maligned Villa striker since Joachim. Funny to see them both in the top six.
He's in his best form for 3 years now but I alway thought his demise was exaggerated. He started last season on fire and popped-up with the odd key goal under Houllier aswell like that last minute winner at West Ham this time two years ago.
-
Had no idea Barry had scored that many.
But I suppose it is only 4 per season.
and I think he took penalties.
-
I'm amazed Yorke only scored 60 league goals for us but then again he only started doing the business from 1995 really.
Well done to Gabby, he gets stick from time to time for his hot and cold form but when he's in the zone as he has been for the last few months he remains a key player for us.
Ozz made a good point a few weeks back that Lambert seems to know how to play him e.g. getting him out wide yet still involved in the final third unlike having to double up as another fullback under TSM.
-
I think the fact that Joachim is our 6th highest scorer in the 20 years since Sky invented the game sums up why we've underachieved so much.
And I love Gabby, but i'll hold my hands up and say I was starting to doubt him earlier in the season, although with an attacker going nearly a year without scoring it isn't surprising. Well done on getting some of the old form back Gabby.
-
Carew is just under with 37, then Vassell with 35.
Complete (slightly out of date by a week or two) list here:

-
Thought Carew would've scored more than Joachim as Big John got into double figures in the league three times between 08-10 whereas I only really remember Joachim scoring prolifically in 98/99 when he started demanding big contracts and lost his way it's fair to say.
-
Joachim? 39?!
-
I'm amazed Yorke only scored 60 league goals for us
He has 73 league goals for us altogether
13 in the First Division and 60 in the Premier League.
-
I fucking love Gabby. Easily my favourite all time Villa player. Hope he's here for the rest of his career.
-
Its a bit depressing really seeing how long the PL has been going and our continual membership of it. benteke would probably Knock 60 off in 4 seasons if we can keep him.
-
He was inspirational this evening, despite his early missed attempt.

Ah right. So he was pretty much redundant from 92-95 with Big Ron not fancying him?

I'm so excited i've knocked nearly 60 off tonight. Wait, that's not what you meant is it?

heh. if you can't knock one off tonite, when can you?

11 goals in all comps, playing from wide. Pretty good. We know Gab isn't ever gonna be prolific, but he should be hitting double figures each year. He did every season under O Neill.
Our front 3 are hitting form nicely. 22 in all comps for Tekkers, 12 for Andy and 11 for Gabbaldinho.
Some goals from midfield next season and a top quality center half, and we'll have no worries of relegation.

There was a point when he wasn't getting a sniff, remember. Nearly ended up going to Man City for a million quid but nothing came of it for some reason.
-
We need Benteke to stay and notch a few more if only to knock Joachim out of that top six.

1 more season with us and he'll break that top 6, I'm sure of it.
-
Well done Gabby let's hope he get's another sixty.
-
Great night for our goalscorers last night!

Strange, the collective amnesia over this. O'Neill said at the time he didn't know anything about the bulking up, and wasn't sure it was a good idea.
-
Yep, general consensus was Gabby took the decision on during the summer to bulk up as he felt he didn't have the strength needed to lead the line. Especially when he had that stint on his own up front.
-
Joachim? 39?!
I asked him tonight how many goals did he get for the Villa, to which replied ''about thirty I think''? He genuinely couldn't remember.

I'd completely forgotten he was with us for so long, I thought he was here 2-3 seasons at the most for some reason.

Glad to hear it and that Jules is still kicking and breathing.

Glad to hear it and that Jules is still kicking and breathing.
I see him quite often.
He's not really into his football anymore. He'll sit down and watch a game, but thats about it.
He lives off his properties now and does the usual father bit each day, school run and that.
He doesn't really keep in contact with many players apart from Tommy Johnson and Mark Draper.

I always thought that Billy Walker was our top league scorer, but apparently it's Harry Hampton. Walker is our top scorer in all competitions.

Joachim? 39?!
I asked him tonight how many goals did he get for the Villa, to which replied ''about thirty I think''? He genuinely couldn't remember.
In over 30 years watching the villa no player worried me more with one on ones than Joachim - his finishing was awful.

IIRC was it because Peter Reid got sacked at Cit-eh and they didn't pursue him.
Travesty he spent so much of BFRs time on the bench, more so he did well when he actually played.
-
And didn't BFR often play him as a winger when he did get a game?
-

Doesn't he still play? I'm sure a few months ago I saw he'd scored for someone.

He did a grand farewell tour of East Midlands and East Anglia non-league clubs, last seen at Coalville I think, but he's retired now.

I think I'd take Joachim over Vassell in that situation.

Still playing for Freiston reserves, fair play to him.
Former Premier League striker Julian Joachim was on target for Freiston Reserves in the Boston Saturday Football League this weekend.
The ex-Aston Villa, Coventry City, Leeds United and Boston United forward - who was raised in the town - played his part as his side beat Mareham United in the Taylors Peugeot Division One.
Dane Harper and Perrie Dale also found the net.
Joachim isn’t the first famous name to turn out in the Boston league.
Snooker champ Ronnie O’Sullivan once got a game for Old Leake when he was staying in the town.
-

Don't start the penalty debate again!
-
Julian Joachim played against my Sunday side about 3 years ago in the FA Sunday Cup, Magnet Tavern, from Boston, beat us,Travellers 2 - 0 and he got both goals both great strikes which had a touch of class in how he got the shots off.
-
I always thought Jules was decent. Great pace and when on-form a deadly finisher. The transfer request was probably not the brightest thing to do but he had 3 solid seasons of good goal returns and was far better value than the bloke we swapped him for plus cash, Hadji.

He had a serious bust up with Gregory, which I wont go into details over a public site.

Yeah same for me.
Just a month before we sold him to Citeh he had a one on one at home to Bolton. I didn't even rise from my seat as I expected him to hit it straight at the keeper. Which he did.
-
Vassell worried defenders but rarely worried keepers.
