Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere but Sky are running a pole for the PFA players player of the last 40 years. This week God 5 is in the running.
"1993-2002
The PFA is celebrating 40 years of the PFA Players' Player of The Year Award, but of the 35 winners to have lifted the trophy, who was the greatest of all? We want you to vote for your favourites in a series of polls taking us through the last four decades. The two most popular players each week will be put forward to our final vote in April. So get voting and don't miss your chance to win two tickets to this year's PFA Awards Dinner. In week three we're looking at the nine players who won the award between 1993 and 2002.
Choose your favourite player"
He is in there with some heavy hitters and at the moment Bergkamp is way ahead but it'd be nice to get him through.
Anyway here is the link http://www1.skysports.com/pfa/28573

Voted but he has no chance. The un-flying Dutchman currently had 63% of the vote of the nine players in God's pot.

Come on Villa folks, no doubt the Gooners have all been voting...we can do the same!
-
Much as Paul was the best villa player I've seen by a distance my vote would probably have to go to thierry Henry.
-
It's the top two from each decade so it would be nice to get him through to the final if nothing else

He's not an option it's players who won it from 93 to 02. I'm sure he will make the final though.

Done
-
He's now catching Cantona (not for the first time)
-
Running a pole.
It's got to be Robert Warzycha.
-
Did it earlier.
-
voted - 0.2% behind Cantona so come on lads we can do this
-
Done and he's in the lead
-
He is ahead of Cantona, but Bergkamp is massively in the lead.
-
Bugger read it wrong , bergkamp is pissing it
-
Emile anyone?
-
Bergkamp for me. Best player I've ever seen in the flesh and some of my most memorable MOTD experiences. Truly unbelievable player.
-
Done. Bergkamps still in front, but The Lord Our Mcgrath is in 2nd place.
-
No doubt that McGrath is the best player I've seen at Villa....but better than Bergkamp and/or Cantona? No Way.
-
Omg california villa catona is the biggest pile of over rated shite i have ever known. he's not even in the top 5 of man ure players of the last 20 years let alone the premiership. its an absolute myth about how good he was.
He's only lorded because he was the last piece in their jigsaw.
its like saying that peter withe was the greatest player ever to grace the mighty lions of aston

He did score quite an important goal.

I've never really thought about it but I probably agree with this.
His king-fu kick probably duded to his aura.

A myth! Cantona was very good.
-
Andy Gray ? won both young and PFA player in the same year, or did I imagine that ?
UTV

-
Bergkamp gets my vote. Great player.

Correct
-
Bergkamp gets my vote. Great player.
Scab!
-
It's obviously difficult to compare players in different positions, but I doubt Bergkamp was anywhere near as consistent as McGrath.
Plus he was shit in the air.
-
Bergkamp gets my vote. Great player.
Booooooooo!
-
Ahead of Cantona now
-
Cantona was absolute class, one of the top 3 all time prem players for me
-
My vote is in and Lord McGrath on 17% in second place.
-
17.1% after my vote, still way behind Bergkamp.
-
Our bloke , easily. God.
-
Just voted and he's still in 2nd ooh ahh Paul mcgrath
-
No doubt that McGrath is the best player I've seen at Villa....but better than Bergkamp and/or Cantona? No Way.
He was miles better than the pair of 'em.
-
I just voted and McGrath is now on 17.3%, Bergkamp is on 57%
-
Ooh aah Paul McGrath or Ooh aah Cantona ? Come on, there's only one winner and it's not desperately seeking Eric.
-
No doubt that McGrath is the best player I've seen at Villa....but better than Bergkamp and/or Cantona? No Way.
He was miles better than the pair of 'em.
Total garbage.

Yes he was.
-
I cant understand this love in for cantona.
Good player yes but great never
you can real off players who were better than him without even thinking about it
i honestly dont think id pick him in any all time premiership side where as mcgrath would walk in.
Paul mcgrath is by far and away the greatest defender that its been my pleasure to see.

It's always hard comparing defenders with attacking players, as obviously people will always appreciate the end result of a goal, especially the sort Bergkamp used to score. But McGrath is the best defender I've ever seen, and the only one who was a joy to watch. So he wins in my eyes. Dwight Yorke was better than Cantona anyway.
-
You have it in a nutshell.
The best defender I have ever seen. The youtube of him defending against Italy, with Roberto Baggio in his back pocket is sublime. Knowing now that he was struggling with alcohol and painkiller addiction makes it all the more remarkable.
-
Paul McGrath was one of the best centre halves to ever play the game. He is up there with the very best, certainly in the top one.
You cannot say the same about Begkamp or Cantona.
-
I saw most of Paul's games home and away for us and apart from a day at the baseball ground when dean Saunders gave him the run around i can't really recall seeing him have a stinker- his level of consistency and performance were outstanding - i had the privilege of having a drink with paul at the Mikita tournament at Wembley in 1990 (he had an orange may i add) and found him to be a really nice bloke - the word legend is often overused.
Paul McGrath was and always will be a real legend!
-

Nope, not total garbage. Check out McGrath beating World Champs Italy single-handedly. On his day McGrath was from another planet. I'll grant you Bergkamp could produce flashes of brilliance at the very highest level, but he had a very talented supporting cast of Dutch players around him.
As for Cantona, a great player at club level who seemed to go missing at higher levels.

Look at what Arsenal won with Bergkamp and didn't win without Bergkamp.

A pretty poor argument unless you think David Geddes and Tommy Johnson were better players for Villa than Billy Walker or Pongo Waring.
Since Bergkamp left, Man City have come to the fore and Arsenal have been forced to sell most of their best players. I think the loss of Fabregas, Nasri, van Persie, Toure and so on may also have affected Arsenal's chances of trophy glory. That and deciding to play a blind goalkeeper against Small Heath.
-
McGrath was a good as any of them in England and International Level. Only Baresi was better of his peers at the time.
He head Baggio in his pocket that day in New York and kept Gianinni quiet 4 years early when in M/F.
Genius in my book.
-
Anyone care to name a better defender who has played in England over the last 25 years?
-
Titus Bramble
-
Better defender than McGrath? After OJ's solicitor I'm struggling.
-
The big man came third overall. Not sure i agree with the winner though http://m.skysports.com/article/football//8651986
-
God damn pole has closed >:(
-
He would piss all over Gerrard in midfield and as for Henry well another one in his pocket. He may have struggled once or twice v messi
Le Tiss was the only player to get the better of him more than once
-
How the hell did Gerrard win that?
Of course I think God should have won it but if he didn't how the hell can you say that Bergkamp is not as good as Gerrard?

Scousers hijacking the vote I'd say.
