OK so I arrive at the ground at 2.55 as usual.
Walking to my seat, I am stopped by a steward who says that a complaint has been made against me and they need to warn me!
I asked what the problem was and was told that I tend to get 'carried away'.
I asked if I swear, they said no. I asked if I was racially or sexually abusive, they said no!
So what have i done wrong??
I am told that the steward in question has no problem with me.
I stand up and encourage our young boys, I never abuse them or the manager.
I am advised that they know who I am because of how I look (big, bald & ugly!!)
Everyone who sits around me are fine, they have a laugh and take the piss 'cos I always moan about the ref!!
What am I to do? stay where I am or move next season??
The only person to have a dig at me was against Man City, when I told Milner that he had finally switched to the other side! Funnily enough I have never seen this bloke before and he wasn't there today!
So what can I do? No language, no abuse on any grounds, I support our young boys and encourage them for 90 mins but I am still threatened with being kicked out.
So should I move?? But why should I when I have done nothing wrong??
Help me guys!!!

I'm not one to judge, but are you one of those ****** that jumps up and insists that everybody jumps and cheers on your demand, then gets mardy when nobody complies?
Seen a few of them down there.
-
I'd ask why and what the complaint was about via the club.
-
Contact John Handley at the club and ask what's happened.
-
"I'm not one to judge, but are you one of those c***s that jumps up and insists that everybody jumps and cheers on your demand, then gets mardy when nobody complies?
Seen a few of them down there."
No mate I am not!, never have been and never will be either!
Just an ordinary bloke who supports the team, never abuse anyone who wants to keep quiet.
Get sick of those who think that they are bigger than anyone else just because they sing a lot, we all contribute.

Fair enough Simian.

Please stop calling other Villa fans ****** and especially stop with the username antics. I'm fed up of warning you about it.
-
I don't see a problem here but some fans can be annoying by being repetitive with the same shout all through the match.
-
Really, football should be one of the places where you're allowed to be annoying.as it was always supposed to be a safe place to let out our frustrations. There are people by me that piss me off but I'll tell them face to face as part if the whole thing of football being a place whwpre you say what you think. They might have a go back, & it all be a bit worrying, but that was how I always thought it was. If footballis a place which excludes people who get a bit carried away, then I'm not really sure what the point of it is.

Annoying thought that can be, if that's a reason to get stewards warning people, then football really has broken new levels of sterility.
-
If you're a big, bald bloke it could just be mistaken identity? There are about 20,000 of them at most of our games!
-
Football stadiums are getting more sanitised by the week. It'll be like Wimbledon tennis in the not too distant future.
-
Come on Tim!

That's what I was thinking.
-
It's the crate that he brings to every match - really annoys the people behind him.
-
I reckon it was Mike Jeffries. He's always kicking off when supporters fail to join in with his renditions of Half-Man Half-Biscuit songs.
-
If you are not wearing a tie in the Trinity people can become a bit annoyed.

Hmmm, but he's got hair.

Not on his head.

A few whiskers don't count Pauline.

I was being polite, Percy.
-
i think its baldest , oneday we wil revolt and burn our wigs
-
It's probably because you are naked.
-
If you dressed up as an astronaut as a PR stunt for the benefit of the Sky cameras, that would be OK.

i`m afraid mate, this is one of the pitfalls of being pinned down to the same seat week in week out, at least with standing you can move around to suit yourself, and others. I`ve probably pissed a few people off meself over the years but thats life, its a Football ground, not a Library, dont loose any sleep over it mate.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I know who you are as the descripton you give fits you down to a tee (not that I'm calling you big, bald & ugly!). Presumably you sit in the Trinity lower several rows behind the dugouts who frequently gives the ref stick even if his decisions are correct with regular lines of 'whats the matter with ya' and 'you couldn't wait could ya' when he books a Villa player.
This followed with 'we're very disappointed in you' at James Milner recently and Martin O'Neill last season when he came back with Sunderland which amused many of us.
But as you say, you don't actually ever swear, give the team or manager any abuse (thats pretty remarkable considering the past couple of seasons!) and do give the side solid support and encouragement.
If it is you, it would be a crying shame if you decide to move or get thrown out; I sincerely hope not as you're usually the highlight of the match!!
-
I swear like a trooper and nothing has ever been said to me.
-
I swear like a trooper and nothing has ever been said to me.
Yeah, I noticed...
-
I did actually apologise on Saturday when I shouted, "Thank f*ck for that!" at the final whistle due to me turning round and seeing I was stood right beside a little lad and his Dad.
-
I swear like a trooper and nothing has ever been said to me.
Demi God status for you there Legion.
-
I swear like a trooper and nothing has ever been said to me.
Not to your face.
STEWARD!
-
I swear like a trooper and nothing has ever been said to me.
I've had to tut at you a few times, Leeg. ;)
Seriously, it's football and you have to turn a blind eye to things (unless unreasonably bad).
The only people not allowed to swear, rant and rave are my husband and two sons.
-
I've decided to move next season just so I can swear more!
-

I was thinking along the same lines Charlie. We must sit very close to each other!

Get in touch with the FSF (FOOTBALL supporters federation ) they will tell you your rights and what to do next.

Good luck! What I hate is these people who grass on others why not speak to the person instead of trying to get them in the shit?
-
I reckon we sit near you - I think its great that you get behind the team and I for one would be disappointed if you moved seats.
-
Simman - if you are the chap described by Charlie8182, please stay where you are next season. You really are a breathe of fresh air in the Lower Trinity.

Ha, Ha, I would argue that many of the refs decisions are correct!! ;)
Yeah that's me, I guess I can be a bit of an irritant at times but I just try to support the boys.
Having read through the replies, I'll take some of your advice. Will see if I can speak to John Handley to see what is going on, then I'll try and forget about it I think.
When I left yesterday, I asked the steward if I had behaved enough and she gave me a big kiss!! (not quite so ugly, or had she lost her glasses!)
Thanks for your comments and support Charlie8182 & TopCat, pop over and say hello next time, I don't bite!! UTV.

No its not.
Normal rules of good behaviour should apply just as much at football matches as anywhere else.
-
You should be able to react emotionally to a game though. This bloke has said he doesn't swear, he doesn't threaten anybody, the complaint is that " he gets a bit carried away". Amongst a crowd of 30-40,000 people there are going to be plenty of them who see things differently to you and get on your nerves, and you might get on other people's, but football isn't a place whe I go to sit on my hands and I don't expect anyone else to either.

The chap who sits by us is well behaved - just very vocal. He never swears and we all have a good laugh at what he has to say.
-
I'd ask why and what the complaint was about via the club.
They would have sent you a letter if there was a problem. Always used to anyway, I am told!
-
Thought I would give you an update.
I took Dave's advice and contacted the club. I was called back by a guy called Paul who's the deputy security manager. He was really good and told me that if the steward was ok with me then it was good enough for him. He said that there had been complaints about bad language and abuse in the block which is why they had to take it seriously.
He actually said that he thought it was fine being loud and supporting the team as long as it doesn't cross the line into foul and abusive stuff and I get that totally.
He told me that if it helps the team win the next match, I should keep on being loud!! So for those of you that sit around me, sorry but you'll have to put up with me a while longer!! ;)
I'm much happier after speaking to him.
Thanks again for all your input and support. UTV. VTID.
-
looks like you have a bit of a fan club on here mate, so carry on supporting
-
Keep it up then simman!
Can't promise I'll join in but I'm glad that the club have given you the all clear so you feel happier about it all.
-
Common sense wins again. Glad to be of help.
-
He said that there had been complaints about bad language and abuse in the block which is why they had to take it seriously.
That's probably me :-[
Seriously though - glad you've got it sorted and look forward to hearing you on Easter Sunday!
-
Impressed by the call you received. I had a completely different and unrelated mix up at a recent match, over my seat being apparently sold twice - coincidentally in your part of the ground behind the dugouts. The stewards dealt with it admirably and a lady from the ticket office called me on the next working day to explain what had happened. Well done, the Villa.
-
As has been said many times before, you can criticise the club for many things, but its way of dealing with our supporters certainly isn't one of them.
