Title: Replica shirts £10
Post by: PeterWithesShin on March 14, 2013, 06:05:34 PM
Away and home shirts are £10 in the shop in town (and i'm assuming Villa Village) if you have your ST card with you. You must have your card to get them for a tenner. I bought both today, bargain for £20.

Apparantley £5 was put on every season card prior to Christmas so a top should be a fiver.

Also anyone buying tickets for any of the remaining games (including the QPR one) should have received an email with a voucher code or something on which will also get you a shirt for a tenner.

I always like a black away shirt more than any other but the lime one is not bad.
You seem healthier than this morning Tom , was it the rum or the prospect of a cheap lime shirt that perked you up?

How long is the macron contract and genting deal?
Title: Re: Replica shirts £10

That's annoying - I paid £20 a week ago for the away top.

Both! Even if I have to come armed with kleenex and lemsip I'll be there I've decided ;)

Also, in answer to your second question I recall reading on here a few days ago that we're getting a new kit sponsor and manufacturer next season, but I could be making that all up.

I'm not a ST holder but got 2 x vouchers to get a £10 shirt when buying tickets yesterday. I wisely used them to wind up a Coventry fan who proceeded to rip them up.

What I would like is an adult shirt with no sponsor.

This has been raised with the club before and they're not allowed to do it because their contract with whoever is the shirt sponsor requires them to have the sponsor on every shirt sold.  I believe it's a legal requirement that they don't have them on the kids shirts which usurps their contractual obligations with Genting.

Yes, bought two. Home one for MV junior,  and away one for me. Never thought I would wear a football shirt, but for a tenner the lime green one is ideal for a cycling top.

The shirts are also available for £10 with ST at the shop in town.

No problem.

Good suggestion with the badge, although I think the current one is better than the previous one from the 90's/00's.

The ideal badge would be the 81/82 badge with a star above it but Premier League rules don't allow that.

I made a mock up - http://oi48.tinypic.com/2imay3b.jpg

Then obviously with 'Football Club' in the place of 'Former Players Association'

Paint skills aren't the best sorry.

The star has to be incorporated into the actual crest and can't be above or outside it ala Bayern Munich, Juventus etc. It's the reason why Chelsea can sell these - http://www.chelseamegastore.com/stores/chelsea/products/product_details.aspx?pid=115565 but not play in them.

Manchester City actually have three stars "above" their crest but I'm assuming those stars are allowed because they don't actually respresent trophy wins, they're there purely for decorative reasons and to make the crest look more "continental" as they got the inspiration from teams like Juve. No wum.

Just picked it up. It's a Villa shirt, so it's great.

On the way back, though I stopped at a Nike store and had a look at some other kits. Barca, Juve, Brazil etc. The quality of them dwarves that of Macron. On one of the rails they had some un-badged 5-a-side kits which were good too. I know Macron pay us more, but they seriously need to up their game quality wise. As a consumer, I miss Nike.

The problem was Nike couldn't care less about us. With the likes of Barca, Man Utd, Arsenal and Celtic on their books we were like the runt of the family. I remember asking a guy working in a Nike shop if they sold any Villa replica shirts and he said he didn't realise Villa were made by Nike (yet the whole shop was adorned with the afore-mentioned clubs items).
Title: Re: Replica shirts £10

Like I said, Macron may pay us more, and pay us more attention, which is fine and best for the club. As a consumer though, I think the product is cheap and not of very good quality. To think full priced adult shirts were costing the best part of £50 is astonishing for the poor quality material. I much preferred the Nike gear. Even if it felt we were an afterthought, the shirt had the right colours, the right badge and felt like quality. Even Diadora and Hummel made better products, and you wouldn't consider them an 'elite' brand. To reitterate, they need to do much better with next seasons kit.

Anyone been into the shop in town today?  I want to get our kid an away shirt - are there any left?

There were loads in there 2 days ago so i'd assume they still have plenty left. Just remember to take the ST card to get them for £10.

If not pop into sports direct - loads there for £9.99 as well as online.

I disagree about Nike.  With the exception of the legendary black socks last year, their kits were largely templated & unoriginal.  At least we have a design just for us at the moment, even though the blend quality is shoddy.

Same here, I've got the home shirt that is the same as the RC Lens kit - http://robosvillablog.files.wordpress.com/2010/09/maillo11.jpg

The quality and fit is awful. I like the Macron home shirt this season, feels really nice and the fit is great. I don't know why people keep saying the quality is bad at all.

Isn't the main issue the Macron logo on the shoulders coming off when you wash them? Overall i'm happy with both home and away shirts.

I also really like the bench coat that was £30 in the sale. Keeps me ridiculously warm.

As I said earlier, if you have printed shirts (names and numbers) they will also peel off when you wash them. The way round it is to wash the shirt inside out inside a pillow case and then iron over the logos with the shirt inside out.

Do people really like the away shirt? I think it's disgusting.

I doubt it.

They've probably just found themselves with more stock on their hands than they envisaged.

Have to say, I don't buy replica kits (they look a bit daft on 40 something blokes, in my opinion), but I think these Macron ones look absolutely shite. It's a horrible, cheap looking, over-fussy design.

Ive got to say when the home kit was released I really liked the look of it. In hindsight I think I was simply hoodwinked by claret and blue. Its shit quality above anything else. My Nike Acorns kit is the best ive owned, the quality was absolutely outstanding. I took that shirt travelling around the world with me for 2 years and it is still in such good nick im getting it signed by ex pros with the intention of framing it.
By comparison, the tat i paid £45  for this season is fraying at the sleeve, has those shit macron men falling off the shoulders and the label is coming off. It is cheap as hell material as well, ive come to hate it - an indicator is the fact that I only wear it on match days....Im disapointed its not even going to make it through to my annual holiday in good enough condition to warrant taking it.

If we have Macron next year they need to massively up their game. Those shoulder men need to go for a start....

Not convinced the Nike shirts were any nicer.  Maybe just me but the fits were horrible - massive necks and short arms.  I always buy last years kits to play indoor football and the Macron away is a nice fit.  Bargain for a tenner.

This season's kit is fine. I got one as part of the deal and have worn it a few times playing 5-a-side. It's comfortable, washes well and is fit for purpose.

Plus the sizing is right. When I bought it, I was told the smaller shirts are large fitting and the larger shirts smaller.

I very much doubt the club will let them churn out a shitty design for next season.

It doesn't cost £10 to post a shirt  to Ireland.
It's the cheap price for  goods v post cost that rankles. I phoned the ticket office to buy a ticket yesterday and they wanted a booking fee equal to 40% of the ticket face value. Appears very wrong but the ticket cost was £5.

Sod it , I bought it anyway plus the full kit for my 5 year old.

Everything else seems fine, Really happy with what I got, couple of books, 2 DVD's, sweatband, 81/81 away shirt and a pennant for less than £30. Just a shame the globe was broken. Not worth returning it for a quid though, as long as that pound helps sign Messi.

My globe was ok - nothing better than giving it a good shake in the morning.

Question has to be, how much drugs and alcohol will I need to watch the 2011/12 season review DVD?

New shirt unveiled in 4 weeks and is rumoured to be based around the 1982 kit so it will look quite retro.

Personally I'm bored of the claret body/blue sleeves combo that we've had for God knows how long so this is a welcome change imo. Just hope those awful 'Macro men' aren't on the shoulders.

Based on the rumours, I found this mock-up online:

Obviously that won't be the crest but I reckon it won't be far off that design.

I've only ever bought 3 Villa shirts in my life, 57 cup final shirt, Champions Of Europe shirt and the Nike Acorns jobbie, if it looked like that, it would be my 4th, I'm a choosy bastard me.

Would love love love that. Do you think it will be based around the 82 shirt? We've heard these rumours for a few seasons now

Then if the away kit is white with claret pin stripes, we'll be world beaters again.

May be if we all queue up at the North Stand with a knife to one of our bollocks then Randy will see sense and change the badge...then again, he took no notice when the fans told him we didnt want that ginger Scottish bloke.

I wouldn't trust Macron to come up with anything that doesn't look like a Spanish third division kit.  They're absolutely gash and would besmerch a sacred shirt (ie 1982) if theywere even to try.  My advice - don't bother.

For those who are interested I was in the club shop today and they are selling the 1982 replica shirt (my favorite design) for £30.

In Sports Direct you can get it for £19.99.

Quite a difference I think you will agree.

Only difference being the £19.99 ones don't
have the ''Champions of Europe'' underneath
the badge, bought the home and away one a
couple of weeks back, word of caution the XL
is a proper XL !!!
