Has Macron had the boot ?
I know we are buggers for chaging styles every 12 months, but the email I've just had from the club selling all Macron gear cheap, makes me wonder.
I personally dont like their stuff and I cringe to see the Boggies and Stoke in quality Adidas gear.
Here's hoping.

Usual end of season sale as far as i know , apparently the online prices are higher than the shop prices though for some reason .
Some decent bargains to be had though.
-
Although most of their stuff is naff or at the very least unattractive, I really like what they did with our kits this season.

Not too keen on the kits tom , but a couple of the training tops are nice.
-
New shirt sponsor so new kits next season........
-
My eleven year old son is very into his name/number/PL badges on the replica shirts and has been unimpressed from day one that he couldn't have the current sponsors name on his tops.
-
At home last week I picked up a home shirt for £20 in the Villa shop on New St. It would have cost me approx €60 over here. I think it's shit though, and I'm not too impressed but, it's good for the collection.
-
I've got a credit note to spend for about £50 down the shop but dont want to waste it on any of the terrible Macron stuff...I'd be tempted to buy the kit but makes no sense at this stage of a season to forget. Is there actually any merchandise worth buying at the moment?
-
Retro kits?
-
The sale is probably due to the change of sponsor, not manufacturer.
-
Won't be to do to change of sponsor, we kept Acorns across various different kits.
it'll be the same thing it always is - start shifting this shit now, while they've still got time, and next year it'll be a new shirt regardless - as it always is.
-
Retro kits?
I was thinking of getting the home and away 81/82 shirts but they looked poor quality when I saw them in the shop. Has anyone on here bought them and happy with them?
-
A lot of the macron training stuff hasnt got genting on it but is still part of the sale - some decent stuff apart from the huge AVFC across the back .

...and the terrible new badge design. The badge doesnt actually look that bad if its in blue outline on claret top but they only seem to do womens shirts like that for some obscure reason.
-
Hopefully they're getting the boot. Awful tat fit for the Championship.
-
This year's kits are fucking shite. Quite apt really.
-
I hope it''s the end of Macron just for getting the colours wrong.
-
I would like the away kit, I think I'll wait till it goes rock bottom, to be honest I went in the shop on new st the other day and nothing caught my fancy at all, I think it's all shit
-
@KT Couldn't agree more, I said it to the woman in Villa Village and she said well maybe it was Nike that got it wrong..No love it wasn't Nike

I bought a shirt for my dog, but he wont wear it
-
Thing is under Nike I brought loads of casual shirts but the macron ones fit like a bin bag

The Nike casual stuff was very good. Not keen on any of the Macron casual wear at all.

Like i said clamps, a couple of the leisure tops are ok but ruined by the huge AVFC on the back, the away shirt looks nice but it doesnt feel that nice .
I was lucky to get a nice tracksuit off andy blair for a tenner earlier this week, i doubt i would pay even a tenner for some of the macron stuff.
-
I quite like the official shirts. I have'nt brought the away one but i probably will end up getting it to add the the collection.
-
It all just looks like cheap tat IMO. Official shirt, leisure wear, training wear the lot.
Reebok, Diadora, Hummel and Nike have all provided much better quality merchandise.
-
I don't like the Macron stuff.
A classy club like us should have better IMO.
-
There is a huge sale in-store, the online prices are much higher.
Home & Away shirts are £20 a pop, shorts are down to about £8 (I think), and all training gear us under £20.
-
Haven't bought a home kit, not keen on it. Plus, the amount of shirts I see around the ground so early on in the season too which had the macron logos on the shoulders all falling off I thought was terrible. So much for a better quality of kit from macron!
-
If I recall at the time, one of the main arguments for going with them was they'd give us preferential treatment as one of -if not the- biggest names on their books.
Yet what we got was a kit template used by Braga and many others, and identical training gear to West Ham.

Another master stroke by our resident genius Faulkner. Can't we cut his wages to help balance the books? Pound for pound he's as shit as Heskey.
-
I think we were all impressed by the Macron promo vids at the time, but eye brows were raised as soon as details of the finished article were released. The design, colours and quality of the final product(s) leave much to be desired especially when these were the main unique selling points they were trying to promote.
-
I bought the home shirt.
Returned it when the logos fell off after 5-6 washes and got a replacement.
I'll buy the away one at some stage hopefully for a good bit less than £20 to keep the collection going.

When the chevrons fell off my hummel I lost the will to live.

No.
I am one of the living dead.

Not a fan of Macron or any of their stuff. As others have said it looks dire and more suited to a Championship team (insert relegation joke here)
Would be happier with Puma or Reebok. Adidas and Nike manufacture for too many clubs and you end up getting the sample templates over and over again.
-
I reckon they'll be giving this stuff away soon, Villa should definitely re-negotiate if they plan to stick with Macron, I'd want more money and quality assurances. Like a lot of people I tend to buy either a home or away shirt most seasons but pre season I got one of those sky blue polo shirts pre that disintegrated after a couple of washes so I didn't bother with the rest. It is not their designs as such, it's just shoddily made tat. In their defence they put a lot of effort into the launch, the bogey shirt was innovative and at least they managed to get the home kit in the shop before the season started.
Of the alternatives: Reebok were pretty good as were Umbro and Le Coq Sportif, Nike obviously offer a shit deal if you're not a top side and stick you at the bottom of the pile for service but their shirts don't fall to bits so over time the club would sell more. I can't understand why we have never tried to get Adidas or Puma in? I always thought it was a prestige thing with Adidas but they make Stokes kit so they can't be fussy anymore and Claret and Blue Sambas would shift like hot cakes.
-
@KT Couldn't agree more, I said it to the woman in Villa Village and she said well maybe it was Nike that got it wrong..No love it wasn't Nike
Well a quick glimpse through the retro strips should have been enough to remind the bimbo that none of them had sleeves in a poncy shade of near lilac.
-
Why don't we just go back to the 70's design for home and away? Round badge as well. Grumble, etc.

Wouldn't that be sweet! Get Umbro back as well!
-
It's nothing to with us trying to get anybody. At the end of the day Macron offered us more money than anyone else, we don't name the price. Have to agree, the stuff is pretty crap. My Missus who hates football commented on how chavvy it all looked.

Having been bought by Nike (primarily for the valuable England contract), Umbro as a brand won't be around for much longer.

I'm yet to meet anyone who's bought either a replica shirt or some general merchandise and not had an issue with it.
I agree that Macron are rubbish, but I wouldn't want Adidas to make our kit as I'd hate to see their stripes go down our sleeves. It would ruin the look of the shirt. Personally I'd want Umbro.

I've always said that Macron are the worst kit supplier out there. Cheap and nasty and fit for non league teams. So it's anyone but Macron for me. Love to see Umbro reproduce their 70s/80s Villa kit.

They've done some nice kits, the Napoli and Lazio efforts look sharp and professional, and I'd be happy with the white Mallorca away kit.
But most of their stuff does look a bit naff.

The club (hopefully) have an idea about who makes a decent shirt, they will invite bids and set the bid criteria to suit it doesn't have to be the one that offers the most money and if that is the case then I think Macron have proved beyond doubt the highest bidder is not necessarily the one they should choose and not the best option for the fans. I realise we're strapped for cash but what is the best option for the club and the more sustainable one - a better unit price then endless returns of faulty garments and shit sales or a lower bid with better quality products and repeat year on year sales volume? You'd expect better from an Italian based company.
-
It looks awful - the home kit looks shiny and garish, and it just looks cheap. For me, it just radiates naffness.
The away kit I don't mind at all, it's different.
-

Kit designs in general have come a long way since then...I would love to see Villa decked out in an adidas kit. I predict shirt and merchandise sales would set record highs for the club if we went with adidas.

Had a quick browse after picking up some tickets the other week and aside from the retro shirts, there are actually some decent DVDs in there.

this is killing me to write but i went into the olbeyun shop in merry hill and the range they have with adidas is excellent. good quality and very professional.
this doesnt mean that i approve of every one of them owning a shirt and wearing it absolutely everywhere though, tossers!
as for our kit, cheap tacky and not enough done in kids sizes. they ran out of the small orange goalieshirt in october, dumbasses. barely any other training kit for 11-12 year olds at christmas. poor show really. you will be ok though if you want an xxl large adult away shirt!
-
I still maintain that three claret stripes down our sleeves would look horrendous. If you look at Ajax's kit you'll see what I mean.
-
Well it would be up to the designers to make the adidas branding work with the Villa colours to make it look good...and theres no rule that states that all adidas shirts must simply have 3 stripes plonked down the sleeve (admittedly most of them do!).

"Heres one I made earlier!"
I'd quite happily buy a shirt like this and associated merchandise...

Just need the Npower badges on the sleeve and you're all set (sobs)

Bring back Hummel.

You're right, but it was in October 2012, so quite recent.

Jesus Christ, no.
Kits made out of paper, no thanks.

Just bought the away shirt for £10
I also had £5 on my ST so the previous priced £50 shirt cost me a fiver

Surely we'd never have a similar kit to a struggling League One team that also plays in claret and blue...
