Excellent news.  I am making my first trip to the Brittania for this game so looking forward to it.

Feel it maybe a pivotal game for our survival.  I've got us down for a draw at the moment, but it's a game we are certainly capable of winning.

UTV!!

That's good and is in line with what Scott the Ticketing Manager told me that he expected to happen

]Only good thing about a trip to stoke is that its no longer the victoria ground - i remember attending a game there in 1979 and being sat right behind a pillar - worst view of a game I've ever had .

Must admit i'm tempted to try and go to this. Not been away for donkeys years but always figure the shitter we are the more they need me. Only downside is hardly any of my old lot even go to homes let alone aways and can't help thinking it's a bit crap going to an away as Billy NoMates.

My first "proper" away game was at the Victoria Ground in 1975, our first year in the First Division.  I'd been to WBA before, but this was the first outing.  I remember Andy Gray wasn't fit and some fella named Deehan made his debut and was outstanding.  The main thing that I do recall that day was the thousands of Villa fans at the ground and the amount of balloons that were released as the team came on to the pitch.  Stoke were decent then and we came away with a creditable 1-1 draw with Graydon scoring if memory serves.

Just to tick off the ground mainly.  The game will be crap for sure, but as I said above feel it's pivotal and we are capable of getting something out of it.

I think we will win that game to be honest , stoke will have little to play for and we will tear them apart 1-0 .

Nice one, cheers Mr Sox. I'll PM or text you when I know. I don't qualify until the 12th March (my birthday!) so will have to wait to see if there are any left by then..

Cheers Chelts. Possibly a dumb question (nothing new there!) but how does it work using someone else's reference? Can I use it to buy a ticket at the club shop in town as i'm waiting for a new debit card so can't buy online until it arrives. And would the ticket be sent to Chelts or me? Ta muchly.

You are welcome to come along with the North Walsall Lions. A friendlier bunch you could not wish to meet. Just put your £20 in the kitty for the pre match drinks and "Bobs your uncle" ;)

I was at the last ever game played at the Victoria Ground. Stoke, unsurprisingly, beat the Albion 2-0.

The last game I can recall watching while clinging to a fence at the front. They still haven't sold the land. I always have a look if I'm on the A500.

If you go round the other side, there are the remains of the steps that led into the Boothen End also the brick culvert vents that stood in the car park where it all used to kick off.

Yep, it was nippy in August for their first game in the PL, despite the sun shining.

I don't believe we've won at the Britannia yet? We will this time. Pleased about the allocation. Got my ticket and looking forward to it.

No, lost the first time due to a long throw hitting Pericard on the back of the head and going in. Drew the second in a snore-draw, where Fuller had the only decent effort of the game and lost the third to a scrambled freekick which Pennant had done a ridiculous dive to win. Is that all of the games, or was there one more?

We also drew there in a traditional nil-nil Christmas cracker.

For those that are going to Stoke, a couple of tips. Firstly, don't forget your cameras. You'll be wanting to take lots of pics! Secondly, try to get to the main glamour spots early in the morning  before all the tourists arrive so you can properly enjoy the city's untamed beauty.

There are some good pubs in the Stoke area, not necessarily near the ground but they are there. Some hidden gems for beer drinkers.

Tbh I'd just advise anyone who wants a drink or three just to have them in Stone or Stafford which have some good boozers. Then catch the train or the 101 bus which dosen't stop far away from the Brit.

Or drink in Newcastle under Lyme which is generally calmer and less hassle than Hanley.

Stoke are just the modern day equivilant of Leicester to us aren't they? Our record against them was shocking even when we were good.

Gives you hope that this season will be the one where we score five in fifteen minutes like we did away at Leicester to break the hoodoo.

There is no width allowed on that pitch at all so yeah the narrow way Lambert sets us up should help us there.

Got the ticket booked today, a big thank you to Chelts, Leeg and Mr Red Sox, you are all stars, it's much appreciated. *doffs cap to all 3*

For those interested, the chap in the TO in town reckoned it would go to ST holders with no away history. Obviously it's not guaranteed but he was confident it would go that far.

Premier coaches do as do Chaffeurs.

They both stop on the way at pubs (both coaches don't use the same pubs).

There is no width allowed on that pitch at all so yeah the narrow way Lambert sets us up should help us there.

Their pitch is the same size as all the others now following the Premier League rule change this year.  Which might be why their home form isn't what it used to be and Rory Delap gets nowhere near the team any more.

Villa's pitch is a good few yards narrower than Stoke's I think.

And Stoke's home form - lost only 2 this season - is the only reason they're not deep in the shit with us.

It's not.  It's 105m by 68m as prescribed by the Premier League, unless the ground is physically not big enough and the club have got explicit permission from the Premier League to have a smaller pitch.

And as for Stoke not being deep in the shit, they're only 4 points above us and are in absolute freefall having won 1 (Reading) of their last 13 league matches.

But then, the thing every team needs when they're on a bad run is a home game vs the Villa...

Rory Delap doesn't get in the team because he is on loan at Barnsley
