I find it amazing with the run of results we've had, the poor football, the negative records being set every other week, the continued lack of leadership through out and the club and the continued wall of silence amongst other thing, that I have yet to hear any singing or chanting at matches about PL, PF or RL. I remember many other managers getting more stick for less including GTmk2, and remember songs directed at Doug. But after all the shit of this season the fans are not yet vocal about it. Why is that?
-
Apathy, patience... a mix of the two?

Sums it up pretty much

people don't like shouting Randy
-
Maybe people are sick of caring when the owner, manager and a lot of the players clearly dont. It's hard to get yourself worked up when you know nothing is going to change. The manager appears to be staying regardless and he doesn't appear to be being backed either
What can we do other than protest with our feet and not go to matches
**shrug**
-
People have realised there are more important things in life than Villa/football. Like paying the bills and looking after your family.
-
That is true, but when that is taken care of your hobbies become passions, the only thing in our control is to boycott games, that would soon get the message home loud and clear.
-
The reason Randy doesn't get any stick is because he's never fucking here, we see more of haleys comet than we do him!
-
Some around me in the Lower North started joining in with the 'Sacked in the morning' chant from the Bradford fans. A very small minority, though.

I think we'll lose to Newcastle on Tuesday, that minority could well turn into a majority chant, not that our brainless owner will do anything about the crisis!

How did those people know enough about your teaching skills to want you sacked ?
-
But there's also a realisation that any managerial sacking should have happened in late-December, in order to give the incomer some time to sort stuff out through January. Protests right against Lambert now will not achieve much, other than giving the protesters something to warm themselves.
Railing against Lerner is - as someone above says - somewhat pointless since he's not around.
Maybe the target should be Faulkner, since he is culpable and in place.

They would still say there were 32000 there if it was empty. There have been a few shockingly low crowds this season but 32k comes on the screen.
-
We're not really a patient bunch in general. Maybe we can see the long term plan. Imagine if we'd been beat by Bradford last season?..
-
Lerner has had an easy ride of it for some time, but remember, he's never at the ground so any voices of dissent are wasted anyway.

The "crowd" at PL matches is always calculated as tickets sold, not bodies through turnstiles, so even an empty ground would show as having a crowd of however many season ticket holders there are.
-
Lerner was a god after his first 2 years in charge, how things quickly turn around.
-
It's because it is death by a thousand lashes, slow gradual decline. With our expectations constantly being managed from the hierarchy. Lots of sell to buy leaked stories, we have no new funds etc etc
-
The argument that there's no point in voicing our displeasure because Lerner is never at Villa Park is a bit flimsy. This is the 21st century. We have televisions, satellites, radio stations, newspapers and the Internet now. If you can start a revolution in Egypt on Twitter, you can get a message to a dim-witted tattooed billionaire hermit in America.
-
We may get a subliminal message from the General to calm our nerves.
-
Lerner owns the club all of it so can do what he likes - and he is never here anyway. Unless we do a Wimbledon 10 years ago and form our own club then there is no point. And we won't - see references to apathy.
Lambert - well he has taken some stick but is he the root cause of the problem or is he the symptom. If we had had OGS or Martinez or Poyet as manager instead of Lambert would we be any better off? Dunno the underlying problems would still be there.
Certainly there should be a lot of ire directed at the senior players who haven't performed, aren't performing and who don't want to perform - a certain shaved head midfielder leaps straight to mind. He is not alone.
That leaves what I deem to be the real cancer at the heart of the club - it is no coincidence since a certain person was made CEO catastrostrophic non thinking football decisions have been made time and time again.
Faulkwit should not be in the employment of Aston Villa - he is a credit card marketing person and is to put it mildly fucking way out of his depth.

After Tuesday nights match I was calling for Lamberts head. Truth is, the buck stops with Randy, this is all on his shoulders & he's damn well got to do something about it!! Lambert can only deal with what he's got, his hands are tied (although some tactical stupidity hasn't helped lately).
With Lambert, I can see what he's trying to do & sometimes it really works. However, chopping & changing formations every 5 minutes isn't helping.
Now Randy, the guy is a billionaire & to say that the books still need balancing is beyond a joke. Compared to many others in the EPL, I would say we are financially sound. Maybe he's cautious after MON but MON wasn't the right guy to give the cash to, Lambert is. He has one week to save us, if he can't then he's the one that MUST go.
-
I don't think the board/owner are getting off lightly these days. I think most fans now accept that they are running the club far below an acceptable standard. As for the manager, many seem to be giving him an easy ride for two reasons: A) He isn't McLeish and B) He was lots of fan's choice to become manager. So they don't want to be proved wrong.
-
people don't like shouting Randy
Rudolph the absentee owner
Used to come and watch us play
But now he can’t be bothered
He should really go away….
Paul Faulkner is a moron
Doesn’t know the time of day
He’s just a mate of Rudolph’s
Walks round saying yes all day
Paul Lambert was our first choice
We all thought of him as good
But he’s now built a worse team
With a back four made of wood.
-
As I've said on another thread it's the lack of communication that is almost worse than anything. There doesn't appear to be any plan to sort us out, our owner and board are up there with the worst in the league.
-
YOU ALL KNOW WHAT TO DO AT THE NEWCASTLE GAME. STOP BEING FICKLE FANS STAND UP AND BE COUNTED IM SURE LERNER WILL BE WATCHING SOMEWHERE IN THE WORLD.
WIN LOSE DRAW HE STILL NEEDS A ROCKET UP HIS ARSE ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!
SHOULD HE STAY OR SHOULD HE GO .

You would think in this day and age they can tell how many people are in attendance.
-
The problem is Randy was the savior after Doug ,Lambert the savior after TSM and both have failed.
So after calling for change which we got the change is no better or in some ways worse than before so what to we call for now.I think the fans have just lost the fight as much as the players now
-

Of course they can. but that's not the figure that is given. Whether or not people turn up is up to them, but if their seat is sold, it is sold.
-
I think last season has taught us that the board do not act, If they do sack Lambert (and I doubt it) it will be at the end of the season. For me personally im fucking pissed off with the board I've said numerous times sacking Lambert will be futile as the next man won't get backed, they may as well let him finish the terrible job
-
Let’s be clear about this, when we protested against Doug it got us absolutely nowhere. Sure we all got to vent spleen, let off some pent up energy, but ultimately it was worthless. Doug did what he wanted and sold the club at the moment of his choosing and not ours. I honestly don’t think that any of us involved in things like AVISA and AVST have any particular desire for another fight with the board of Aston Villa, especially given that this time there’s not even a shareholders’ meeting to vent spleen.
Let’s face facts. We can gather the troops and march down the Trinity Rd once more screaming and shouting but it would be like shouting in an empty room, pointless and worthless.
We are back in the situation we were in when Doug sold us; we have delayed it for a bit, that’s all. We will get relegated and we will simply have to regroup, adapt, learn from our mistakes and come back stronger and a little wiser. No amount of protesting is going to change or alter this. As supporters, all we can do is support and hopefully the rebirth won’t last too long.

That would be funny if there was a complete boycott. The announcer saying that today's crowd is 20,000, thank you for your support!

Randy is getting off lightly because he is holed up in Castle Duckula across the Atlantic

I doubt very much that were he even at VP every week, there would be much in the way of protesting against him.
-
Do you think we are actually planning for relegation now? Not buying players would indicate this to me.
-
If you plan for relegation when you're not in the drop zone in January, you should be ashamed.
-
After two and a half years of anger and annoyance its now an apathetic acceptance of our relegation.
-
I see from todays Birmingham Post that following his sale of the Cleveland Browns, Randy Lerner is now worth £1.1 billion, you would think that he could let Lambert have a few million to buy some experienced players wouldn't you?
-
I am breaking my exile.
I just want to say that Lerner and Faulkner have been given a very generous blank cheque by supporters for the past twelve to eighteen months.
In that time they have been given the benefit of the doubt and right now they are giving it back to the supporters with both barrels. They are destrouing the club.
-

Thing is, you don't plan for relegation. It's not a goal that would be set at the beginning of the season & it's not a goal that should be set now. You plan for survival & if this is the dipshit mentality of our board then they need to be lined up & shot because they really are fucking idiots.
-

This.

We can shout as loudly as we want at Randy, he wont hear us over in America.

He sits in a soundproofed decontamination chamber wearing his Browns shirt, there could be a riot going on outside his lair and he wouldn't know any different.

As quick as our journey from champions league to relegation candidates.

Lerner is our owner, not "some American". He did not arrive as a football expert, but as a man with some cash which he duly put into the club.
He can be critisised for not recruiting sufficient football knowledge onto the Board and into the club. But crude xenophobia is uncalled for.

Agreed there is no place for that language
I was less than endeared to the last but one manager hailing from across the Channel though that had nothing to do with his country of origin just the many professional and personal attributes that used to wind me up related to his approach to Villa.

Yeah no need to make derogatory comments about Americans *cough * Married to one *cough* 8)

Totally agree with this.
The people they succeded is the main reason why both are getting off lightly at home games although I suspect that will change if we lose at Millwall and then are losing at home to Newcastle.
