Only one choice. Want to know if people think the same as me.
Aware that a few will miss the chance to vote on this before tonight's game.
I know you want to win the cup and stay up, but it's not an option, sorry.
Cheers

Knocked out and stay up.
-
We have to stay up.
-
Knocked out. We've already won the bloody thing too many times.
Going down would actually have consequences.
-
How very provocative of you.
-
Winning a cup and then getting relegated is what Small heath do.
Survival for me.
-
Really tough choice.
As a supporter I want to see us win trophies and for my Son's sake I want nothing more than to be at Wembley with him when the Villa captain lifts a piece of silverware.
However for the longevity and security of the club I have voted to get knocked out the cup and stay up
-
I thought this might crop up at some point. As much as I want us to win the cup (long overdue of course), our survival in this crucial year is paramount. It really worried me at the weekend when N'Zog was subbed with possibly one eye on tonight.
I still think we will win this game easily, but we should never ever put it above survival
-
Cup. 16th means fuck all on the honours list.
However I will repeat what i've said for a while, we're going to win the cup and stay up.

Same here.
It is a trophy FFS.
Records that say we did a Wigan and scraped survival, or won the league cup in 2013? I know what I would prefer. We will come back up if we go down, I am certain of that, we don't get to cup finals every season.
-
Stay up of course

Indeed. Not exactly exciting to imagine the day i'm telling my (mythical) grandkids about the year we lost to Bradford in a semi-final and finished 16th.
-
The relegation will sit on our record just and much as a cup win would.
-
With the money coming into it next season, I'd rather stay up and try and use that to win a few more trophies in the next few that. If we win but go down, it could be the last sight of a trophy we have for a number of years.
-
It won't be any worse trophy wise than the last 16 years of being in the top flight and winning fuck all.
-

Might be slightly worse, but point taken.
-
Stay up and Villa to do what will be reffered to in years to come as "Lamberts Treble" League, League cup and FA (The only trophy I haven't YET seen Villa win
-
Get knocked out and stay up. Winning the cup would be great of course but any good it might do us would be nothing in comparison to the harm relegation would cause.
-
Stay up regardless. A cup win would be a bonus.
-
Stay up. No brainer

What is you preference then Mac
-
The way I see it if we don't get relegated this season then we'll go down next, as Randy just doesn't want to spend any more.
On that basis we might as well win a cup at least.
-
Win the up and stay up, fuck you!! :P
-
Win the Cup and stay up, fuck you!! :P
-
Stay up, but I'd rather win the FA Cup than stay up.
-
Stay up
-
Stay up.
I appreciate it's the league cup and is silverware, but getting relegated with our current financial situation, in a year when the TV money means the lowest placed team will get as much money as the CL place teams do this year would, makes it even more riskier that we'd stay down for a prolonged period of time.
It's easy to assume we'd go down and bounce back up, but I imagine Leeds, Forest, Leicester etc thought that as well.
-
If we go down, it could cripple the club for a long, long time. Staying up would be the priority in the above situation.
-
No contest Win the cup.
-
knocked out in the final and stay up

No brainer.
Tin pot Rumbelows tyg. Now if it was the FA cup I'd have to think about it.

You are right I freely admit, but it is a sad day that essentially winning nothing is more preferable than winning a trophy because of money.

But it's not really the money per se. It's the thought that next season we would be struggling just to try to gain promotion, wheras if we stay up we might win the league.
-
Lol.. yeah we might.

I hadn't heard that the top 16 were in talks about a break-away European league.
-
Out the cup, stay up and lift the FA Cup.
-
Only one option for me stay up. If we go down I fear we wouldn't back for sometime.
-
Out the cup, stay up and lift the FA Cup.
This.
-
Stay up. We'd need to win 30 odd games to come back up, or 4 to get back to this position.
-
A cup win would look nice in the records but these days the glory has become secondary to the finances. Relegation could affect us for years if not decades, especially with an owner who appears to have padlocked his wallet for the foreseeable future. We need that TV money.
-
My answer is stay up but if the question was also applied to the fa cup my answer would be different.
-
Portsmouth won a better one, The FA Cup. Fat lot of fucking good it did them.
As a regular match goer, I'd find it hard to stomach sub-standard Championship football, I've seen enough of it in my time and it's shit.
And for people who think we'd fly back up after being relegated, I say only this - Randy Lerner.
Choosing a cup win and relegation is idiotic.

Agreed. It's basically saying "would you swap places with SHA?"
-
Have to go with win the cup. Cup wins last forever, relegation is a short term problem and be back inside a year, and in 10 years, relegation will be forgotten and the cup win will still be there.
-
relegation is a short term problem and be back inside a year.
You reckon so with the infrastructure of this club?
The hierarchy can't decide from one season to the next what style of Manager/Footballing set up they want.
I wouldn't trust Lerner, Faulkner et al to organise a two car funeral, let alone a promotion push.

Win and get relegated. A trophy is a trophy. And winning them is the name of the game. Not finishing 16th
-
And winning them is the name of the game. Not finishing 16th
The name of the game could well be Sheff Wed, Leeds or Forest with this lot running the show.
Where the fuck have you been anyway?
I see Lord Lucan riding round on Shergar more than I see you.
-
Got to be honest, if it was a choice between being knocked out and the six points v West Ham and Newcastle or through and two draws, I'd take the 6 points every time.
No good going to the final if we're just going to lose again and we have to stay up of course.
-

Pissed off with all the negativity to be honest.

Winning over 16th everytime.
Not over 18th, 19th or 20th though.

So you start a thread forcing people to choose between winning a cup or getting relegated?!
-
I forgot to mention the snidey comments.
-
Well at least now we know we're staying up.

Lambert couldn't keep anything up, I pity his wife.

What on earth was snide about that?

These two posts are ridiculously short-sighted.
Relegations will be noted in the record books too, and will surely have greater consequences.
-
Stop up, if we're lucky.
