With snow forecast well into next week, when do you think we'll be playing next?
-
Millwall.
Anyone know when we'd play the Bradford game if it's called off?
Would the Newcastle game have to be moved for that?
-
Are we expecting the Baggies game to be off?
-

I guess it would. The week after is potential FA Cup replays, which I believe take precedence over everything, then you're into less than a fortnight before the final, which makes planning impossible.
-
Saturday 5:30pm.
-
I've gone for Millwall. Think tomorrow will be snowed off, and the Bradford game may be affected by the state of roads around VP, state of car parks, and difficulties for Bradford fans travelling.

Fuck 'em, they didn't wait for me when I was late for the first leg.
-
This weather could be a blessing in disguise for us.
Extra couple of weeks for the injured to recover and the others to recharge their batteries.
-
How deep is the snow in Brum?
-
I've gone for Bradford.
-
Olbiyun are not on a good run, I think that we can get something if the game is on tomorrow.
-
Are we expecting the Baggies game to be off?
Have a look outside
-
How deep is the snow in Brum?
It's deeper than a French philosopher.
-
Saturday 5:30pm.
With the forecast showing constant snow between now and tomorrow lunchtime I can't see it!
-
How deep is the snow in Brum?
Was that the bee Gee's.
-
Personally, I could do with the Baggies game being cancelled.
I've just a tooth extracted and don't fancy driving to Smethwick tomorrow
-
A lot depends on what the public transport situation is like. If it snows on the day - and the forecast for tomorrow and Tuesday says it will - then do you really want 26,000/40,000+ making an unnecessary journey?
-
I live in Stripeyfilth land and it's been snowing non stop since early this morning. It's not looking good for tomorrow so i'll go for the Bradford game.
-
the met office 5 day forecast for birmingham has changed for birmingham saying it will snow constantly all day every day till tuesday.
next match may well be millwall.
-

This is a good point. The Metro can't run to a proper timetable as it is never mind having to cope with snow as well.
-
Man city at home.
This snow is apocalyptic.
-
Man city at home.
This snow is apocalyptic.
Life as we know it is at an end.
-
It will be below freezing tonight with more snow forecast for tomorrow. I think we might be getting an enforced winter break.
-
Will they call it off today?
-
Millwall.
-
Will they call it off today?
It'd make life easier but with it being a derby they'll probably wait until last minute.
-
Bradford.

I need at least three hours notice Dave. Please have a word with the Baggies for me. ;)

I would say that there may be pressure from WMP to call it off, but then its a toss up between whether they think policing a derby at night is any easier, especially considering how we behaved at the last night derby.
That said, there isn't the same level of animosity and for me, I would hazard that allowing people an extra two hours in the pub on a Saturday is worse than an evening kick off.
-
I hope it's off tomorrow as I don't have a ticket and there's bound to be some spares if it's moved to a Wednesday night. Self, self, self...

You can have mine if its postponed, I won't be able to make it up again if it is.
-
The OS says the game is expected to go ahead, despite them sending all of the ticket office staff home!
-
Personally, I could do with the Baggies game being cancelled.
I've just a tooth extracted and don't fancy driving to Smethwick tomorrow
Well don't go upsetting any of their fans or you might lose some more teeth!
-
With it being a derby game they can wait until the last minute to decide as all the fans are local. Apart from a few out of town glory hunters. Eh Mr Sox!!! ;)

More drinking time tomorrow for most than a midweek game where people are finishing at 4 or 5

The referees have got to get the grounds to make pitch inspections presumably. If any can't travel the FA may call on more local officials. Now who is a relatively local referee just up the M6? Oh no, Phil Dowd.

The pitch will almost certainly be playable, it will be conditions outside the ground that dictate whether it goes ahead or not.

The pitch surely won't be a factor, just the ability of fans to actually get to the game and safety around the stadium.
-
I'll say Tuesday will be our next game
-
Elf and Safety will prevail. It will be called off early tommorrow morning. The pitch will be perfect.!
-
Millwall.
The snowballs around the Den are harder than anywhere else on earth. Even in Summer.
-
Judging by the state of the roads and pavements there will be no game tomorrow.
-
The fact is, Albion have known about the weather wituation all week, so presumably would have made all the necessary preparations to make sure the surrounding areas are safe.
They will have had staff continually gritting the streets and stadium, and also ESPN will be putting the pressure on the game to go ahead.
I live in Sedgley, one of the highest points in the midlands and although we have had a lot of snow, the roads and pavements aren't too bad at the moment
-

Just driven home from town, and they would be mad to have it go ahead
-
Town is gridlocked. The pavements are treacherous and will only get worse when it freezes overnight. Will be very surprised if the game goes ahead.

I actually came back from Trinity Road, via town picking up my wife. Getting out was a nightmare, people took forever to go nowhere.
The roads and pavements by VP were pretty bad. Sticking another 3 days of freezing on before Bradford, I would be amazed if that happens too.
-
Some shitty stories of the traffic problems came in from those who left around 1.
-
Oh, and I am at The Hawthorns station now. The platforms are a mess.

Collymore?

A farcical match on a treacherous pitch with an orange ball may be our only hope of a result.
-
Millwall!
-
Forecast now saying it should stop around midday tomorrow.
-
Oh well. I am now safely home and sat in front of a bacon sarnie.
-

Very good point . We need some form of leveller :-)
-
Apparently strictly come dancing is still on tonight at the NIA. If that bunch preening primadonas can get their gig on, surely ours can...
-
How deep is the snow in Brum?
Was that the bee Gee's.
Is your snow, isissss your snow, how can you slip over now, coz we're living in a world of snow.
-
Even in our current plight, I hate weekends without football.
-
I remember just after the war. Six foot of snow fell during the night. Still managed to get me self into work on me pushbike at crack of dawn.
-
By a strange quirk of fate the weather here on the North West Coast and at my place of work (Bolton) has not been that bad although a freeze tonight might make things a bit dodgy.
Hopefully things will be ok for Tuesday as I managed to get a half day off for the game.
-
West Bromwich Albion say "concerted efforts" are underway to ensure Saturday's West Midlands derby with Aston Villa goes ahead.
"We hired gritters to service both inside and outside the stadium yesterday and they will remain on site for the rest of today and tomorrow," says Mark Miles, Albion's head of facility operations and development.
"The under-soil heating has been on for several days, which is keeping the pitch temperature at ten degrees celcius. We are making concerted efforts to remove the heavy snowfall from in and around the stadium and this operation will continue tomorrow morning."
-
Personally, I could do with the Baggies game being cancelled.
I've just a tooth extracted and don't fancy driving to Smethwick tomorrow
As I posted on another thread yesterday, the game definitely won't be cancelled, but it could well be postponed.

Millwall

Albion tomorrow. Just watched weather forecast and only possibility of light snow tomorrow. No longer on any alert.
-
Good luck with that pauline , more chance of us signing a new player that a game at the hawthorns tomorrow.
Off by 10am i suggest.
The police will have a huge say in things.

I felt the same as you all day but now it's stopped snowing I think it'll be on. Just got this horrible feeling I'll slip over and break my arm. I seem to spend most of my time at hospitals these days.

The snow will turn to ice and become even more treacherous i think.
Safety is the most important thing.
If you do go get dc5 to pull you on a sledge.:)

Get pissed before you leave. That way
A) You can blame the drink as the reason you fell over
B) It won't hurt as much
And try and land on DC5 to cushion your fall.
-
Excellent suggestions eastie and PWS. Have to admit I'd not planned on having a drink before the game. Can't see Jon pulling me on a sledge.
-
I hope Tuesday on just booked half day to come down to brum
-
Now is the time for that January sales bargain:

Snowing lightly again here in Stripeyfilth land.
-
It will be on, and Tuesday will be on and the Newcastle game will be on.
We will be six points better off and going to Wembley. Happy fucking days. UTV
-
I'm caught between wanting the game to go ahead tomorrow and wanting to not have to go into work.

I love your positivity.

Nursey's on TalkSport right now and sounds like the game will go ahead.
-
Of course it will.
-
We'll win. I just have a feeling. It'll be Benteke's day.

You'll be alright. That kind of thing only happens to Leeg
-
Most definitely. I'm stopping in front of the laptop for this. Going nowhere.
-
We'll win. I just have a feeling. It'll be Benteke's day.
If we play tomorrow with all their absences and the crap weather I can see 'lump it to Benteke' actually working this time.
-
I imagine ESPN will apply huge pressure to get the game on.
Sky have managed to get Leicester to play tonight and there's very few fans inside the stadium.

Yes it's clear by the empty ground that people have given up trying to get there. Boro's coach took two hours to get there from a hotel four miles away.
Clearly no thought whatsoever has been given to the people who have paid up front for tickets. They won't get a refund that's for sure.
-
If I get to that dump and it's off I'll be a unhappy happier person.
-
Of course it will.
What makes you so certain?
-
Tonight's game is on.
-
Well it's going touch and go. The pitch will be fine but the old health and safety issue will probably win over as usual
-

Different approaches to the ground, and there wasn't going to be 26k there.
-
I suspect tomorrow will be off, Tuesday will definitely be off as I'm going.
-
let's get it on. We'll go up their with our gravel and shovels and dig the game on.

This the West Midlands. Where you can't even serve beer from backpacks on the concourse at matches because the council won't allow it. They'll find some reason or other.
-
Well let's hope they make the call early so everyone can get on with their live's
-
There's been a damn sight more snow and ice round here than there has been in Lesstuh today.

So we have had more snow that is now lying on top of frozen snow. Knowing the area around the Apollo warehouse in Handsworth there's no chance of the match being payed today.
-
@WMPVillaFC: #avfc #utv At the present time the Match is ON, Motorways and major roads r all fine, Public Transport is okay, so @ present i repeat is ON
-
I can think of 500,000 reasons the boggies will want this on.

Not quite as catchy as the Jay-Z version.

It's absolutely fine around there and pretty much the whole area. Drove past it on my way to work and detoured down Halfords Lane and back up Middlemore Road (which comes out by Apollo 2000) and it's all clear. Metro, trains and buses all running okay as well.

Not sure how they can be sure this far ahead, as an alternative from the BBC:
936:
WEATHER UPDATE
West Brom against Aston Villa is today's 1730 GMT kick-off and that game is under threat. Albion are saying they are making 'concerted efforts' to get The Hawthorns ready.
-
@WMPFootballUnit: #wba have confirmed that unless there is a severe deterioration in the weather later the game will go ahead #villa
-
Yeah and a severe deterioration is very unlikely today, so looks like it'll go ahead.
-
Bugger.
Lets hope we can pull out a miraculous win and salvage a little hope from this sorry, sorry season so far.
-
I am going to leave at 1 o'clock in order to not miss kick off today. Park at Villa and walk!
-

Good to read that Middlemore Road is clear because that's where I usually park for Baggies games.
I think I'll head off now. Getting out of Gloucestershire looks like it'll be the worst bit.
-
Worse than going to Smethwick? I doubt that very much.
-
The Albion had got their ground and the areas they were responsible sorted but the pavement from the station to the ground were treacherous. We walked in the road where we could. Glad the game went ahead but there could have been injuries.
