Makes me feel a lot more confident seeing the squad as strong as that. Great to see if Bent can recover his form, because we all want him firing. Interested to see how Bowery does in his first start too.

Well this is an opportunity for Darren to show his class, serviced by 2 out and out wide players in Albrighton and Nzogbia today.  Hopefully we can get some width in the play and Darren will shine.  I'll go 3-0 win!!

From all accounts, Bent started well against Norwich and was showing more than we've become accustomed to. Maybe he needed a kick up the backside? We'll see.

Bent, N'Zog, Baker and Gabby being back is a huge bonus. Need to get Vlaar and Westwood fit and with new signings we'll look ok.

I'll put Benty down for a brace today and a cheeky one for Bowery in 3-1 win

The midfield is clearly the obvious issue here, but the team is a lot stronger than I thought it would be. Come on Villa.

It's interesting to see us going back to a 4-4-2 with 2 genuine wide players given the talk pre-season about how wingers are a dying breed. I know there are games where we would get absolutely buried playing that shape but it's good to know that there is flexibility there and there may still be a place for that style in certain games.

stronger than i expected , would have liked to see carruthers get a start but nice to see ijuries clearing , the fact bent starts suggests he may well stay as im sure if they wanted to sell they wouldnt cup tie him or risk injury.

My only greater wish would have been to leave Benteke and Weimann at home and fill the bench the youngsters to give them a go when we are winning 3-0!

They've conceded something like 9 in 9 so they've improved just in time for our game against them - typical of our season really. I know we've been crap but all season we seem to have been playing teams at the wrong time.

The co-commentator (Mick somethingorother) is all "us", "we" and "our".  Thinking about it, could it be Mick Mills?

He's clearly a confidence player who has has suffered from a lack of that and various injuries. He wasn't shite all the time last season (remember him having a fine game at Bolton and scoring the 10,000th Preemier League goal against Arsenal at VP), just not as good as when he was shining under MacDonald and Houllier and he's forever being compared to that peak form.

MOM for Bennett.  Good lad

Anybody got the radio link? Just tuned in
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football-20909223
Just got banned by the admin from VT for posting that, bloody jobsworths!
Still serves me right for going on their crappy site :)

An official BBC link? I could understand if it was an illegal link. Although maybe that don't allow any links posted in the match thread.
Thanks guys for the support :) It does say no streams, someone asked for a link to the radio and I just put it up there! Then I commented saying I didn't realise and banned!

Probably for the best anyway!
Didn't even get a yellow?
I got an email to which I posted saying "sorry, I didn't realise it wasn't allowed," that message got me my second yellow! I also find it strange as they have a whole thread linking to illegal streams  ::)

I had us to be losing at ht and winning on 90 at 25/1

I also have correct score. 3-1 and us to win on a -1 handicap so a third now would make me even happier

eck. well played.

How does the handicap system work?

Villa to win with a -1 goal start, ie need to win by two goals.

Macc or Luton next round please.

That'll do, at home of course! The draw is about 3.30pm tomorrow I believe.

Please end the game, much more of Mick Mills and my brains will leak out of my ears.
The mind boggles to think what his speeches as England skipper must have been like.

Great stuff, delighted to hear Bennett had a good game. Left side has been our weak spot all season despite some solid Enda Stevens performances.

We tried the separate link thread here to stop each page from containing five of the same link. And if they yellowed you for apologising then Fergal is right on the real reason then.

Argh that Limpdick sorry Limpid who runs VillaTalk is an arsehole in all honesty, I got banned from there too. You don't get any warning just a straight ban without explanation. I'm all for order and rules but the level of communication is terrible from him so I didn't bother fighting my innocence.

Better off over here :)

Glad we safely negotiated that! Only caught the last 15 mins on the radio but any longer and I would have been questioning the will to live thanks to Mick Mill's commentary - Jesus!! How dull is he?? Looking forward to seeing the 2nd goal (if Mick Mills said it was good then....)

That's what I tried to explain to them in an email.
On here, PWS or someone would just point it out in a helpful manner and that would be the end of it.

I got a yellow card once for asking the general about keepers shirts and the wome's team.

Ahmaad kept sending me PMs that I was being watched and that they knew I was from H&V. Not fucking difficult consiodering my opening post was - I'm peter w from H&V and the site is down so I've come here. To be fair there were one or two decent Mods over there but he was a prick. Was he the one who also came onto here to say goodbye to everyone and trhat he was of to Turkey? To which everyone replied, 'Who are you'?
