Available Wednesday evening.
-
VILLA: Guzan, Lowton, Baker, Clark, Bennett, Holman, Westwood, Herd, El Ahmadi, Delph, Benteke.
-
Right come on you Villa boys, you owe us massively for the other day.
-
Packing the midfield with Benteke up on his own? Theres a lot of hussle and bussle in midfield....not a lot of guile though....hmmmm!
-
That's a mcleish team! I'll have to apologise, looks like weimann is injured after all. That's all we need
-
Not necessarily Delph and Holman are better going forward than containing.
-
Very defensive line up, looks like we are aiming for 0-0 on this one.
-
Presumably Holman with Benteke, kea in holman's position? Very defensive.
-
Not much option really, with gabby, bent and Weimann all injured, is nzogbia on the bench? Bit surprised Ireland didn't get a game in midfield but all to play for .
-
Shit the bed, what an uninspiring line up. Can't see many goals in that side.
-
More workmanlike certainly, but I don't think it is that defensive.
-
3 strikers out as well as Nzogbia apart from Ireland in the team not much else we could do.Be lucky to get a point looking at Spurs team
-
Not so much defensive but more of a solid look to it...which is only right after the last game. Go gung ho against this lot with the pace they have and it could get ugly for us very quickly...
We really are lacking creativity in the squad...
-
Look, he needed to keep it tight for this game and some players needed a rest. A point tonight would give us a great platform to go on and beat Wigan. Draw Spurs tonight and beat Wigan and we'd be looking at needing only about five more wins this season to be pretty sure of staying up.

I'm looking beyond staying up, win today and we will be 4 points of 8th place , it's really congested mid table and no reason why we can't get amongst it.
-
The question is whether he lines up with 3 at the back. This is what hurt us on Sunday. 4-5-1 will work tonight.

So after one game you want to change the formation forever. What about the games leading up to the Chelsea game???
-
We definitely need a creative spark.
-
Perhaps could've been an opportunity for Bowery to have started today?

Save it for teams who are not strong down the flanks, like Liverpool.
The formation was a big factor on Sunday.
SKY showing it as still 3-5-2 with Holman up front.

Your optimism is great, and think best we can hope for today is a draw, don't see us scoring unless on the break and nor sure we've the guile to break them down.
Hope I'm wrong
-
Nice start until Herd got involved.
-
Delph's not a clever man, is he?
-
Come on Delph that's so fucking clumsy.
-
Nice start until Herd got involved.
Get over him, Paul.
-
January is going to be crucial for us, we have to pick up 2-3 wins at least in the league. It's a big worry that we seem to have so few forwards fit as we'll need to get some goals. Would take a dull 0-0 today
-
Come on Villa. I don't want to her these wankers do that elongated "marching in" song.
-
KEA for fucks sake, awareness.
-

I'd go along with that under the cicumstances. Just hope spurs don't knacker us with an early goal.
-
And I DO NOT want to see that monkey faced cheating twat smiling either.
-
Looked like a foul on the big man.
-
Nice start until Herd got involved.
Get over him, Paul.
In fairness it was going ok. I've no problem with Herd, I just don't think he's good enough to start.
-
Stupid.
-
Case in point with that challenge.
-
Silly.
-
Not many options in there though.
In fairness, Benteke should have had a nailed on free kick 30 seconds before, then they got one Herd looks to have got a touch on. The rub with the refs has not been with us this season at all.
-
That was a free kick ref! Teh Villa man touched it away and the spurs guys comes through 2 footed!
-
Sounds like we're under the cosh?
-
Need to get on the ball.
-
All Spurs so far. Not created much yet mind.
-
Case in point with that challenge.
Are you his wife? ;)
-
Ten minutes gone, and it looks like we're going to be in for another long, long game of football.
-
A very concerning start.
I thought we'd already played at Spurs this season?
-
Ten minutes gone, and it looks like we're going to be in for another long, long game of football.
Aye. We look redundant as an attaching force. Nerves I hope.
-
Stop Brad.
Could be a long, long afternoon. Need players. 5-6 out injured is beginning to bite, especially with them all being the only senior pros we have.
-
alamo
-
Grea save Guzan. One way traffic.
-
We really need to get on the ball.
-
I think it could be 4 or 5 today, so, an improvement.
-
Men against boys so far, lets hope we can stay 0-0 and then get a toehold in the game
-
This is really poor at the moment.
-
Sounds tits.
-
I'm looking forward to seeing the ball in the Spurs half at some point today. Maybe.
-
The Vlaar, dunne, nzogbia injuries have all been far longer than expected and that's really hurt us. If the side we have out today goes a goal down its hard to see us getting back into it
-
Poor poor touch from Holman.
-
Fucking shit Holman. He works hard, but there are times he looks a pretty poor player to me.
-
That was poor Holman.
-
On the law of averages, we are going to concede before half time, we aren't getting any time with the ball and haven't been in their penalty area yet.
The defence will be knackered by half time on this showing.
-

We've barely been out of OUR penalty area.
-
saw curtis scored 2 today, can he come back? We are a pub team now
-
We have to get on the ball, this is nowhere near good enough.
-
Bbc reckons we've not been out of our box yet. Can't help but think we are partly inviting this on ourselves with the 541 line up. Tho clearly our choices are limited
-

True,
stats show we've been in their half 9% so far
-
Finally KEA actually gets near someone.
-
can you imagine if we had a man sent off now!
-
Another game in which we may as well just have a keeper and defence and leave the other players at home.
Only a matter of time until Spurs break through, this is very poor.
-
Have Spurs sneaked an extra 20 men on the pitch?
-
"Spurs are looking forward every time they get the ball. Villa have not touched it for five minutes."
Dion Dublin. Worrying.
-
can you imagine if we had a man sent off now!
It wouldn't look any different.
-
I know we got battered last time out but playing a formation today which is inviting 90 minutes of backs-to-the-wall defending isn't what the doctor ordered surely?
-
We got a free kick!! Blow me over.
-
YES!!!! Benteke just stepped in their box!
-
Better passing for a second there.
-
Fucking come on Villa this is bollocks, sort it out.
-
Holman and KEA have to be better. Westwood has passed to both in the last 5, and neither have controlled the ball at all. Not good enough at all.
-
Holman isn't doing us any favours, Westwood just played a nice pass but Holman fucked up a simple touch.
-
This is really poor.
-

Gingascotti tried that last season. It didn't work then, either.
-
Westwood! Grrrr
Can see the confidence is totally shot to bits.
-
Great block, Herdy.
Agreed.
-
Piss poor Westwood, Delph had done well there.
-
Get ball, pass ball, give ball away. Wait......................... Get ball, pass ball, give ball away. Wait.........................
-
Great stop.
This really is shockingly bad so far. Really fucking shit.
-
Save Guzan. This is fucking dreadful, sort it out Lambert.
-
Chances coming for them now.
-
What's the point in competing in sport if you have no interest in winning?
-
Not for the first time ths season, it's thanks to Guzan we're not two down already here.
The complete lack of keeping the ball is very McLeish-like today. Just a lack of genuine quality in the midfield.
-
Benteke has been poor the last two games.
-
KEA has to put that in front of Benteke there.
Baker did brilliant
-
Were gonaa frusrate them to death then score I hope.
-
can we stop passing to them!
-
Great block, Herdy.
Agreed.
Was a good block.
-
Lets have Bannan and Ireland on before we concede a couple, rather than after it.
-
KEA isn't up too much.
-
What's the point in competing in sport if you have no interest in winning?
I have sympathy in that the team selection has been dictated by availability. The performance is being consumed by the result last week.
-
the whole midfield is the problem-too many sideways passing, one paced players-woeful. come on Villa for fuck sake
-
This formation ain't working. Sort it out PL. Time to manage.
-
Anyone think we can pull off a shock shot today?
-
KEA isn't up too much.
Does anyone actually know what his role in the team is? He doesn't seem to have any standout qualities. A poor man's Reo-Coker?
-
i'm delighted its still 0-0
-
Lowton's been good. *whistles in the dark*
-
Spurs player had his Speedos on before the tackle was made. Twat!
-
Formation is fucking hopeless, but if you keep passing to the opposition there's not a lot you can do. We seriously need some experience, also when the fuck is Vlaar actually going to be fit?
-
Disgraceful from KEA. How was that not a yellow?
Is that really the kind of team we're becoming?
-
KEA isn't up too much.
I think he is an awful player. Has not looked the part once
-
23% possession according to BBC. Don't tho m I've ever seen a figure that low!
-
The first time we've pressed them in their half and Gallas punts it out. It leads to an ATTACK!!!
-
We almost succeeded in passing it to both corner flags there.
-
We got forward then. Shit the bed.
-
Fucking hell that was an attack.
-
Slowly getting into it.
-
Formation got us a 3-1 at Liverpool, 4-1 at Norwich and was unbeaten in 6 before chelsea. It is confidence, not shape, and ability in midfield that is the issue.
KEA, Delph and Holman are not very good! Westwood has played some nice balls. Bennett looks like he can be a real threat going forward
Herd looks very, very nervous.
-
We're all over them.....
-
Watching on Fox bloody Aussie pundits very patronising toward Villa

Bang on re: Herd. He looks terrified
-
Lambert this team is not good enough, we need some quality depth in our squad.

Where about's in Oz are you?!
-
It's like the players think there are only goal posts at one end of the pitch and it's not their turn to attack until the second half.
-
Plucking hell, this is like watching MON's Villa. Not a bloody clue what to do with the ball.
-
FFS. Holman has GOT to be better than that.
-
Heaven help us if Guzan gets taken off by a giant buzzard today.
-
Holman fucking hell that is appalling.
-
Fucking hell Holman! Did great, then kicks it out of play! Bennett is not Usain Bolt. His passing is really awful
-
Great block, but atrocious play.
-

In UK watching a streaming site I can't mention
-
Lambert this team is not good enough, we need some quality depth in our squad.
Until Jan there is not much he can do!?
-
Good break. More please.
-
That sounded close on the wireless.
-
Fucking Christmas. I fucking hate it. Fuck off.
-
Lambert this team is not good enough, we need some quality depth in our squad.
Until Jan there is not much he can do!?
Well I was referring more towards January, but he has to address it then.
-
Does that count as a shot? Only, I've got a bottle of champagne I've been keeping for a special occasion.
-
Benteke slides there we lead.
-

Ah!
-
176,567th corner for Spurs...
-

He bought 9 in the summer. He will be active I am sure. He knows we are not good enough, but it is going to takea long while before we get to where he wants us I would imagine.
-
Lennon shouldn't shoot that hard, he nearly caused a genocide.
-
Poor from Clark allowed Vertongen to get goal side.
-
Can't help Holman's agility wearing granny pants like that.
-
Fucking hell KEA how do you not win that ball?
-
Filthy tackle from KEA.
-
KEA is a dirty bastard. I don't want him in my team.
-
I'm watching this with a thousand yard stare
-
I don't know what KEA does, I really don't.
-
KEA is lucky Clattenburg is a lenient ref. He could have been off by now.
-
KEA is a dirty bastard. I don't want him in my team.
To be fair, I think he's just miles off the pace.
-
I don't know what KEA does, I really don't.
Gets the wrong side of the man and then fouls him. Much of the time.
A really good centre mid would be the best Christmas gift ever.
-
I'm watching this with a thousand yard stare
**snigger**
Highlight of the half.
-
Is Van der Vaart still at Spurs?
-
Sounds like are getting a bit more composed. More Frank Spencer than Norman Wisdom.
-
Is Van der Vaart still at Spurs?
No, I think he went back to Germany.
-

Excellent analysis.
-
KEA is a dirty bastard. I don't want him in my team.

That's reason enough not to play. I've counted 3 bad tackles. If he was an opposition player we would be calling him all kinds of names.
-
Anybody seen our midfield?
-
Is Van der Vaart still at Spurs?
No, I think he went back to Germany.
Ta. Good for us. Looks like Spurs miss him and Modric rather badly.
-
Strangely (for a team that let in eight) it's not the defence that's the problem as far as I can see, and with Vlaar in place of Herd I reckon that'll be alright, with Lowtn in particular and Bennett too getting better with time.
It's the midfield, and I swear I've been saying that about Villa for the last ten years! We just never seem to get the balance of power and panache that you need.
-
No not Baker injured. Please god.
-
Anybody seen our midfield?
I think they're doing a bit of shopping in the sale.
-

We never replaced Ian Taylor, that's our problem.
-
14 corners to Villa's nil, says it ll so far
-
We're getting battered because Westwood apart our midfield is fucking useless.
-
Benteke really needs to learn the offside rule.
-
Lets nick a goal before half time... or is that being silly?
-
I'm watching this with a thousand yard stare
**snigger**
Highlight of the half.
Perhaps instead of lobbing confetti and streamers we should have used mustard gas?
-
Baker off, Ireland on.
-
Baker off injured.....Ireland on.
-
Lets nick a goal before half time... or is that being silly?
I'd settle for a shot. On goal or tequila, either will help.
-
Ah good enough centre half injury.
-
I agree with Pleat on that: playing this formation with these personnel against these opposition is a dead end.
Change happening now anyway. Ireland on for Baker.
-
Bollocks. Baker has been our best defender by a street. Will be an avelanche second half with Herd and Clark.
Injuries are fucking decimating us
-
Anybody seen our midfield?
It's just arrived.
-
He was on then FFS!
-
I think I'd prefer Lowton at centre back and Herd on the right, really.
-
A corner!
-
Me too DJ
-
A shit corner!
-
Waste.
-
Fuck me we had a corner
-
Hands up if you would take a point!!?
-
Half-time summary: it's been like watching a haddock have a scrap with a battleship.
-
How the hell is it still 0-0? Shocking display!
-
We must buy a centre back ASAP in January. And possibly a forward now. And a midfielder.
-
Well the only positive is that somehow we're not losing. Other than Westwood(who hasn't had a good good I know) all the midfield may as well go, because they're not good enough.
-
Me too DJ
In fact, I think I'd bring Lichaj on at right back, with Lowton in the centre. Herd doesn't look like he's at the races at the moment.
-
Hands up if you would take a point!!?
I'd take a point and a clean sheet, deffo.
-
Amazing we;re not losing, Worrying that PL doesn't seem to want to change things when we're so obviously second best.
The first 25 mins were as bad as I've ever seen us play. We started to press a bit higher and looked marginally better. Not good enough.
-
Made it to half time goalless, Amazing.
-
Hands up if you would take a point!!?
I'd take a point and a clean sheet, deffo.
All day long.
-
if we were a dog, we'd be a rain soaked, beaten, abandoned, ugly and very shit dog
-
Hands up if you would take a point!!?
No way. We are going to stove these lot in second half.
-
How is it 0-0?
Fifteen corners to our one? Something like sixteen attempts to our, one or two? Any time we attack we are offside.
Still, getting to half-time 0-0 after such an onslaught is good. We can improve, they haven't much else in the locker. We do need more experience and a bigger squad though.
-
Be a miracle if we can keep a clean sheet if we have to go through another 45 minutes like that and I can't see it changing.
-
Hands up if you would take a point!!?
I'd take a point and a clean sheet, deffo.
That would be very good result today! Still, there were promising signs at the end of the half there, as Spurs seemed to be falling into a bored stupor.
-
Our main problem is pretty clear - too many of our players are simply not good enough, and we are way too over-reliant on youth.
I can see what Lambert is trying to do, and sometimes it pays off, but if you look at the cumulative results this season thus far, they suggest we're really not very good.
My big hope is that Lerner and Faulkner don't think we can just sail through january, maybe throw a few more lower league players in, maybe a Morrison, second string attacker from another mediocre side, because if they do, then I think it is going to end in tears.
They've absolutely got to back Lambert with money, and he's going to have to get some experience in, because, although we don't play Chelsea every week, and we won't get embarassed on our own pitch by Spurs too often, we also don't beat anything like enough of the shit sides, either.
-
On the plus side it's unlikely we can be that bad in the second half. Delph, KEA, Ireland you are playing for your Villa careers.
-
Really poor stuff, kea dreadful, hopefully Ireland will inject some spark.
-
I've missed the first half as been in the car. Do I watch the second? Not sure I want to by the sounds of things. Very worried about our cb pairing now. Is there any update in terms of when our various short term injuries are likely to be fit again? Could really do with Vlaar and weimann back in particular. Even gabby and nzogbia would give us options we don't have today
-
Need a midfielder so badly. Somebody like Craig Gardner would fit the bill.
-
Just as bad as Chelsea, only difference being is spurs have not punished us. We need some serious investment in January or I fear for us. At this rate Bradford may be a bigger test than we anticipate too
-
On the plus side it's unlikely we can be that bad in the second half.
I'm fairly sure I said that at half-time against Chelsea :-)
-
Kea just hasn't adjusted to the premier league yet - too weak and can't cope with the fast pace. Get bannan on in his place?
-
We need three or four quality, experienced pros. Surely the funds are there for it - we must have one of the cheapest squads in the PL at the moment?
-
Get bannan on in his place?
Oh that's how this could get worse.
45 minutes of misplaced would-be Hollywood passes will do the trick.
-
We are desperate for reinforcements. I'm glad we are just before the window instead of just after it.
-
how many times this season have we actually been totally outplayed and dominated?
-
Get bannan on in his place?
Oh that's how this could get worse.
45 minutes of misplaced would-be Hollywood passes will do the trick.
Harsh on Bannan. He's been our most improved players this season and was very impressive in some of the games we have won.
-
how many times this season have we actually been totally outplayed and dominated?
Apart from Swansea, Liverpool and Norwich...pretty much every game? Oh and Man City in the cup.
-
We had more of the play in the 4 minutes after the enforced change in formation than in the previous 44.
I would have hoped that it was change Lambert would have made at half time anyway but with herd off instead of Baker.
Either way we need substantial reinforcement in midfield. And if Vlaar is not back soon in central defence too.
-
I just don't think hoping to hang on for another 45 minutes while giving Benteke no service at all up front and allowing Spurs to waltz through our midfield at will is the way forward. Ireland's already on, let's try Bowery up front with Benteke.
-
Westwood off, Albrighton on.
Blimey.
-
Could really do with Vlaar and weimann back in particular. Even gabby and nzogbia would give us options we don't have today
That's our problem we have too many important players out injured. Lambert is having to select a team from the few available. I can understand now why KEA hasn't been getting a game. Holman, for all his effort reminds me of elephant football. Benteke is constantly offside.
Albrighton on for Westwood!
-
Lol westwood off and albrighton on ?
Just give them the 3 points now
-
wtf .. is Westwood injured?
-
Get bannan on in his place?
Oh that's how this could get worse.
45 minutes of misplaced would-be Hollywood passes will do the trick.
Harsh on Bannan. He's been our most improved players this season and was very impressive in some of the games we have won.
He has his moments, it'd be an improvement if he didn't seem to be under the impression that he's the Glaswegian Iniesta, though.
-
Instant improvement. Let's keep it up.
-
Fuck me the only midfielder I rate off. Oh well Albrighton you owe us.
-

Before slagging him off, it's worth noting that Bannan has created the most chances in our squad this season.
-
Strange sub...I'm nearly afraid to watch.
Anybody else get the impression Lambert is treating this as a smaller game than Wigan? It's as though he is keeping his best side fresh for the Wigan game.
-
Nice to see a big crowd at Villa Park.
-
Started brightly this half
-
Fuck me the only midfielder I rate off. Oh well Albrighton you owe us.
surprised to see Westwood off
-
ah albrighton, that will toughen our midfield up
-
We have stop giving the ball away, Hollman is tyhe worst offender, he can get away with it vs lower teams, but not against these. I would put Bannan on for him.
-
What's the shape now? Alby and Holman wide of Ireland?
-
Shape is much better, 4231 again, not sure why he changed from it.
-
Wouldn't be surprised to see us have 5-10 mins of better attacking football and then spurs score twice
-
better lads, come on Villa. Stop this long ball to Benteke....keep the ball Villa. Get holman and albrighton in the game more
-
The long ball to Benteke would be more useful if the big man could stay onside. He's quicker and stronger than both of their centre backs.
-

Yes, you're right mate-we're looking more up for this now...almost a goal there. Come on the Villa!
-
I love 'im an' all, but Benteke doesn't half find himself offside a lot.
-
Benteke has got to get to grips with the offside rule.
-
Oh Christian...,
-
Miles better.
-
was that not a corner after Lloris made the save?
Ah, offside
-
Great tackle from Walker.
-
Foul on Delph please!
-
Fuck sticks
-
Fuck off you ******.
-
fuck off Defoe.
-
Nice rendition of Holte Enders in the Sky there. If the crowd make a lot of noise, it really looks like it lifts the players.
-
Was offside anyway but that was a top save by Lloris.
-
Overall - deserved.
-
Phrases heard most often during this game:
'Tottenham corner.'
'Benteke offside.'
'wtf?'
'what's Delph doing?'
'shit!'
-
game over. can only see them scoring more on the break.
-
Bollocks, our best spell of the game then shit happens.
Need something special now
-
That's....that's just really bad defending from Villa there. Very poor goal to give away in the end.
-
Wouldn't be surprised to see us have 5-10 mins of better attacking football and then spurs score twice
Half way there
-
Only 8 more to go to set a new record, lads.
-
Sorry guys. I'd just turned on the laptop and see I've jinxed it!
-
When did we last win from behind?
-
Injured centre back? No fucking way.
-
Oh do fuck off.
-
Fucking RUBBISH.
-
FUCK OFF.
-
2-0 all over now FFS
-
Fucking hell.
And you know what? Benteke is having an absolute stinker of a game. A stinker.
-
a few bright moments aside, this has been another fucking tedious season. Maybe it's being 8 hours ahead of England and staying up to silly o clock on work nights to watch Villa play shit. Fuck off Bale and fuck off Villa, rubbish
-
Fucking abysmal.
That's enough for me.
-
That's the worst goal we've conceded all season.
-
Criminal and get what we deserved.
-
Yo get the feeling when we go behind to a decent team that its game over- benteke shockingly to blame for 2 nd goal- dreadful .
-
GRRRR. thats football
-
We give the ball away at the other end and bang we're caught on the break
-
This is where we are unlucky. Delph was fouled the other end and it was clear Benteke was not getting there, but he played on.
Now we give the second because of a shit ball by Benteke that Ireland did not move for.
Bennett got there first, but Herd was fucked by Bale.
-
Absolute rubbish. 10 goals against and none scored in two games. Where's their sense of self respect? Bloody useless.
-
Wouldn't be surprised to see us have 5-10 mins of better attacking football and then spurs score twice
Sorry. Benteke and then Clark really fucked that
-
Shit team, Lambert better sort this crap out in January.
-
I was gonna ask how its going but......
-
This has been fucking awful.
-
Bannan on please.
-
Oh well. This is what happens when most of your opponents have miles better players than you.
-
I know this sounds bad but part of me hopes the scores stay the same as there's a chance we concede another couple or more here
-
Benteke has been awful all game unfortuantly we have no one to replace him as 3 other strikers are injured
-
How the fuck do we go from the Liverpool performance to this shit? I won't accept injuries as an excuse. Seven of the players that started today started then too.
Fucking. Shambles.
-
I'm curling up in the foetal position and going to sleep...night all.
-
I was gonna ask how its going but......
We're getting precisely what we deserved. Unless Westwood's injured then taking him off and not KEA was madness.
-
Looking like another 5 or 6
-
10 goals in 2 games, happy fucking Christmas, New Year & Easter.
Lambert needs to turn this around sharpish against Wigan where a point and a clean sheet might be a blessing in disguise.
-
Not worth looking for a feed then?
-
Really needs a big transfer shake up in January- so much lack of quality it's frightening.
-
AG is jizzing in his Farahs.
-
I don't think Benteke is to blame tbh, Ireland gave him nowhere to play the pass, he needed to hold right back or commit to the front post.
After that Bennett really should've kicked it to touch.
-
This is dire. Where's the improvement that was supposed to happen after the Chelsea capitulation? I suppose 2-0 at home is a minor improvement.
-
Absolute rubbish. 10 goals against and none scored in two games. Where's their sense of self respect? Bloody useless.
Absolutely spot on. A bland manager looking a bit lonely on the sidelines-and rightly so, considering the dross he has by large picked this season. I'm going off Lambert, I must admit. January will be where he earns his corn
-
Come on Villa. Fucking score.
-
What a load of utter shit We are fucking down make no mistake
-
I thought we were all supposed to be waiting for things to go right with Lambert as opposed to waiting for it all to go wrong?
-
sounds like I missed a good game...
-
I don't think Benteke is to blame tbh, Ireland gave him nowhere to play the pass, he needed to hold right back or commit to the front post.
After that Bennett really should've kicked it to touch.
Disagree, benteke far more culpable for that goal than Ireland or Bennett, and he needs to stop getting caught offside, plaudits when due but tonight he is poor.
-
I am at least enjoying watching Villa more this season than in the last two, that must say something.
-
another shit game.
-
Absolute rubbish.
As bad as things are I have faith in this manager, give him time and a few transfer windows, he will sort the shit out.
-
Aaaaaannnnd....there's the Delph yellow card.
-
Most mistimed tackle I have ever seen there by Delph.
-
This is dire. Where's the improvement that was supposed to happen after the Chelsea capitulation? I suppose 2-0 at home is a minor improvement.
Losing pretty much every senior player to injury and then our best defender just before half time not at all mitigating? Or that Spurs are a very, very good side and we are not near that yet. We have been poor without doubt, but after the weekend it was hardly likely to 1970 Brazil was it. Lost more players since then and none returned to improve the situation.
Delph tackling at its best there.
-
At least the ref's on our side.
-
Great tackle, Delph.
-
Considering how bad the last two games have been, thank god for a) the Liverpool result and b) the teams below us keep losing. Wigan is a massive game now isn't it? Really could do with more players coming back for that one
Fucking hell delph, how slow were you there?
-
PLeat saying Bale doesn't dive. Yeah, right oh. That wasn't a dive mind you. Just a shite tackle.
-
Lambert has made some good signings, but his most important one was KEA, and I'm afraid he fucked that one right up.
-
Delph and KEA are the two shittest tackling midfielders in the league.
Joy.
-
Sadly I am listening to Alan Green...
-
They should just put KEA and Delph on a pitch alone and let the useless bastards take care of each other.
-
When did we last come back from 2 goals down in a league game?
-
Aaaaaannnnd....there's the Delph yellow card.
But at least he gave Bale a whack!
-
I'm afraid Karim El Ahmadi isn't good enough for this league. He is a mile off the pace.
-
I suppose Chelsea Liverpool and spurs and 3 points from them is not too bad a return but the last 2 games have been quite shocking .
-
What a load of utter shit We are fucking down make no mistake
Really? 3 points out of the relegation zone half way through the season, with January to come. We have lost 2 games most of us thought we would, after not losing in 6 and making a cup final.
-
Absolute rubbish.
As bad as things are I have faith in this manager, give him time and a few transfer windows, he will sort the shit out.
I think he probably is a good manager, and he seems to be certain in what he's doing, but he's playing an awfully risky game with his 'young 'n' hungry' policy.
None-the-less I've no doubt that we'll pick ourselves up and go again, again.
-
How many players do we need to make us a mid table team?
-
Aaaaaannnnd....there's the Delph yellow card.
But at least he gave Bale a whack!
and it puts him out of the Wigan game - every cloud blah bah blah
-
They should just put KEA and Delph on a pitch alone and let the useless bastards take care of each other.
You would think Bannan would come on.
-
Bannan on please.
This says it all really. Bannan is ineffective and shit, yet we miss his shitness
-
Fuck 3-0
-
This is dire.
Delph tackling at its best there.
Finally some sense.
3-0 this is going to be another battering now
-
Absolute rubbish.

It is a fair enough point. It is just a very frustrating time, largely because we look bereft of creativity. And that ****** scores again..bollocks
-
Walked through a flat footed defence, there.
Bollox.
-
Shit.
-
What a great Christmas, this is getting extremely concerning, we need to enter the transfer market with some very astute buys this January
-
Here we go capitulating again, fucking awful.
-
this is dismal.
-
Why cant we show a bit of fight? 11 goals in 2 games? shit
-
Ireland's been a bit of a pussy since he came on. He's not competing for fifty fifties at all.
Fucking hell. Make this end please. We look all over the place. We need help. What are delph and kea doing to protect the back four
-
11-0 in two games. You can stick your excuses, because this is just embarrassing.
-
Herd is nowhere near good enough to play centre half in a flat back 4.
Losing Baker has killed us today.
-
Kea....Ireland and Albrighton ....so many powder puffs in midfield
-
When we're bad, we're the worst team in this division, bar none.
Buy some players next week or we will be relegated for absolute certain.
-
Well, there it is.
3-0, at home. Eleven goals shipped in two games.
And they might score more, too.
-
11 goals in 2 matches and counting
-
See you guys later I'm off to
This is dire. Where's the improvement that was supposed to happen after the Chelsea capitulation? I suppose 2-0 at home is a minor improvement.

Delph tackling at its best there.
Finally some sense.
3-0 this is going to be another battering now
Stop talking sense I'm off to the relegation thread post haste.
-
We need to get a bit of steel in the squad.
A paper thin squad......
-
Herd is nowhere near good enough to play centre half in a flat back 4.
Losing Baker has killed us today.
He's nowhere near good enough to play in the team.
-
When we're bad, we're the worst team in this division, bar none.
Buy some players next week or we will be relegated for absolute certain.
Familiar story.
-
Please make it stop....
-
11-0 in two games. You can stick your excuses, because this is just embarrassing.
Yep, I can't think of one single mitigating circumstances. Lambert needs to sort it very very quickly or he can go as far as I am concerned. This is quite simply unacceptable and extremely embarrassing
-
Monkey Magic. Fuck right off.
-
I do hope Lerner is watching this & squirming with embarrassment.
-
I've concluded my question about what delph and kea are doing to protect the back four. Nothing
-
11-0 in two games. You can stick your excuses, because this is just embarrassing.
They are not excuses, they are putting it into a bit of perspective. I try and see reason, not just simply state my misery every 2 minutes. Until Baker went off as poor as we were with the ball, we had not conceded and had not looked like doing so, Spurs did not have a way through. Since he went off and had to go back to 4 at the back, we have been wide open.
-
Only Spurs could make me hate them more with their stupidly slow rendition of When the Spurs go marching in. It has to be the wankiest song ever.
-
Depressing Ive turned it off. Still lasted longer than the Chelsea game. Ill do something else eat another mince pie or two.
-
-20 goal difference too...have you ever seen Villa with this bad a goal difference?
-
Randy needs to back this manager big time of sell up to someone who will...
-
I do hope Lerner is watching this & squirming with embarrassment.
It'd be nice, I wonder if he even knows we're playing.
-
God, albrighton's dribbling technique there was embarassing.
-
The midfield just seem to be looking in the opposite direction whenever the ball comes near them...shocking display from them
-
We need to get a bit of steel in the squad.
A paper thin squad......
No steel, no fight , little quality , no experience- bleak times.
-
I've concluded my question about what delph and kea are doing to protect the back four. Nothing
Delph's a brainless imbecile. He's about as far from Premier League quality as it's possible to get.
-
We need to sign a midfielder who can tackle in January. Built like a brick outhouse if possible. Our midfield is too light weight and has no leadership.
-
Norwich and Liverpool flattered to deceive, we are going to just about survive if we are lucky and get some quality in January, other wise the Savage prediction might yet come true.
-
We are fucked. More worried this season than last now.
-
Randy needs to back this manager big time of sell up to someone who will...
This manager needs to sign some quality experience.
-
This could just as easily have been 8 as it was on Sunday.
-
We are a fucking joke.
I'm embarrassed to be a Villa fan.
-
Of course the truth is somewhere between the armageddon scenarios being discussed and the wankfest (to use the vernacular) the other night. But yes we do seem to be better than almost anyone else I can think of at exposing ourselves to total football humiliation.
-
Please make it stop....
Where have I heard that before!!
-
Ireland and Kea have not played above walking pace at anytime in this match
-
Still, as it's only early afternoon here, I can go to a bar and have a few beers when this dross is finally over.
-
maybe not the worst villa team I've seen, but the most hopeless
-
It's all well and good hoping the manager will bring in experienced players, but what if he hasn't got the money to do that?
-
why the fuck isn't Bannan or Weimann playing? I can't understand if he's trying to rotate the team so if so where is Gabby? Why didn't Ireland start?
I swear any hint of progress we make we manage to fuck it up very quick.
-
Herd is nowhere near good enough to play centre half in a flat back 4.
Losing Baker has killed us today.
He's nowhere near good enough to play in the team.
Neither is Holman, Delph, KEA and on the last two games, Mr Offside Benteke.
-
My decision to give up Sky last summer is proving a most astute one
-
Please make it stop....
I don't think Bruce Willis is going to save our arse today.
-
Saddest thing is we were very lucky to only lose 8-0 on Sunday and we are lucky to only be 0-3 tonight- not good enough .
-
It's all well and good hoping the manager will bring in experienced players, but what if he hasn't got the money to do that?
Then we'll get to visit a few new grounds next season.
-
Herd is nowhere near good enough to play centre half in a flat back 4.
Losing Baker has killed us today.
He's nowhere near good enough to play in the team.
Neither is Holman, Delph, KEA and on the last two games, Mr Offside Benteke.
Delph and KEA i'd give the boot.
-
Can't wait to hear Lambert mumbling incoherently about how "we go again".
-
Please make it stop....
Where have I heard that before!!
Its just so painful, I love this club, its not just the score its how we are playing.....
-
Damage limitation now, try to keep it below 6 more against
-
why the fuck isn't Bannan or Weimann playing? I can't understand if he's trying to rotate the team so if so where is Gabby? Why didn't Ireland start?
I swear any hint of progress we make we manage to fuck it up very quick.
We are not out of the woods yet. The cancer that has infected the club since Summer 2010 is still there. It's like we crumble at the first sign of danger.
Make it stop x100
-
You can tell you've just been hammered 8-0 when 3-0 doesn't seem so bad.......
-
Worst Christmas in Villa's history?
-
why the fuck isn't Bannan or Weimann playing? I can't understand if he's trying to rotate the team so if so where is Gabby? Why didn't Ireland start?
I swear any hint of progress we make we manage to fuck it up very quick.
Gabby and Weimann are injured. I would imagine Bannan is being rested for Wigan and maybe Westwood too if he has any sort of knock.
-
If we dont strengthen
OH FUCK
-
Sigh....4-0....
-
sigh. good night everyone. merry christmas
-
0-4, ah good stuff. But promising team and all that....
-
4-0 we are a shambles ..
Youth or whatever but in 2 matches on TV we have conceded 12 we look like the worst team in the league by a mile now
-
Can't wait to hear Lambert mumbling incoherently about how "we go again".
Get fat Sam in eh??
-
I am ashamed of this club.
-
Please make it stop....
Where have I heard that before!!
Its just so painful, I love this club, its not just the score its how we are playing.....
I know, me too. I can't believe that the pathetic struggle for survival we have been reduced to is ongoing.
Wigan is our biggest game of the season now.
-
Great.
This, my friends, is about as bad as it gets.
Absolutely embarrassing. Utterly, utterly fucking bad in every single way.
-
This is truly shameful, and the most embarrassed I have ever been to be a Villa fan.
-
4, 5, 10? Does it really matter any more?
-
Jesus, this is bad. Very bad.
-
This is disgusting and totally unacceptable
-
Crikey
-
Reaction huh?
-
I am ashamed of this club.
Not me. I am shamed of the club's leadership. Bright future my arse.
-
Welsh twat...
-
Can't wait to hear Lambert mumbling incoherently about how "we go again".
Get fat Sam in eh??
Has he ever shipped 12 goals in two games?
-
any more goals and guzan will do his back in picking them out.
-
This is not Aston Villa. Is it?
-
If Lambert had any sense of self respect he'd resign after this shambles.
-
The ground looks empty now.
-
12-0 in 2 games.....
We are fucked really really fucked. Without spending a decent amount in January then I don't want to even think about what will happen...
-
I am ashamed of this club.
No one makes you support Villa. A little embarrased yes, but never ashamed of being a Villa fan. Get a fucking grip.
-
There's not a lot of leadership out there is there? We miss that as much as anything else. I'd love it if dunne and / or Vlaar were an option right now.
Oh FFS. That was embarrassingly easy. Men against boys. I'd have taken 3 points from these 3 games, but not the massive confidence knock we'll have taken. We're heading into what I think is an absolutely crucial January in a really perilous state, in terms of confidence and squad availability.
-
Can't wait to hear Lambert mumbling incoherently about how "we go again".
Get fat Sam in eh??
Serious concerns about Lambert now, this is far worse than it ever was under McLeish. He needs to go if he can't do better than this. Though I fear the real problem is actually Lerner and his complete disinterest in the club. He did it at the Browns and now we have become the footballing equivalent...
-
Knee jerk reaction probably, but I'd quite like Lambert to fuck right off.
-
One thing the last two games have done is totally slam the nail through the brain of the "we can do this with kids" nonsense.
We were always going to struggle relying on so many of them, and we were particularly going to find it hard to bounce back from a trouncing like Chelsea with them. Who do they look to for leadership in the dressing room?
-
I am ashamed of this club.
Not me. I am shamed of the club's leadership. Bright future my arse.
Proud History-Fucked Future
-
Time to pack it in Lambert, something not right at the core of Aston Villa is there?
-
Can you opt out of the league halfway through? It'll save us an awful lot of pain in the long run.
-
I am ashamed of this club.
Not me. I am shamed of the club's leadership. Bright future my arse.
It's not just the leadership though is it. A lot has to be going wrong on every level to be this bad
-
If Lambert had any sense of self respect he'd resign after this shambles.
What are you on? How would that help at all??
-
To think I was fed-up not to be attending 'cos it was my Mother's birthday
Thanks for saving me from this Mom.
Thiis pretty bad isn't it....
-
I am ashamed of this club.
No one makes you support Villa. A little embarrased yes, but never ashamed of being a Villa fan. Get a fucking grip.
I'm ashamed too because it is the Villa. I'm glad you are only a 'little embarrassed' Ozz!
-
It is far more Lerner's fault than Lambert's.
Lambert bought the players in, and they're all lower league players on low wages to fit in with the wage bill slashing.
Faulkner, meanwhile, thinks playing loads of children means you turn into Ajax.
An absolute shambles, and if they don't buy in some proven quality in January, we are really going to struggle not to get relegated.
-
4, 5, 10? Does it really matter any more?
Yes because unless we get out shit together we could end up with the worst goal difference in the league going into the home straight.
-
bright future?
-
I am ashamed of this club.
No one makes you support Villa. A little embarrased yes, but never ashamed of being a Villa fan. Get a fucking grip.
As a moderator I think you need to exercise a little self restraint. You seem to be taking out your frustration on other posters.
-
Too many kids brought in. Can't take them out the firing line as there is no experience to replace.
Still no stupid o'clock kick off times on Boxing Day in the Championship.
-
La,bert seems to be escaping a lot of flak but this is shocking, dropping bent was stupid but we don't seem to be getting better , we have been a shambles the last 2 games and in all my years watching villa never have I seem such shit as this last 2 games- -12 goal diff from 2 games s a joke!
-
One thing the last two games have done is totally slam the nail through the brain of the "we can do this with kids" nonsense.
We were always going to struggle relying on so many of them, and we were particularly going to find it hard to bounce back from a trouncing like Chelsea with them. Who do they look to for leadership in the dressing room?
Quite although some of the elder statesman like KEA are fucking useless too.
-
I am ashamed of this club.
No one makes you support Villa. A little embarrased yes, but never ashamed of being a Villa fan. Get a fucking grip.
I am ashamed of what is happening but never ashamed of Aston Villa. As the man said get a fucking grip.
-
This is disgusting and totally unacceptable
Absolutely.
Huge game wigan
-
Time to pack it in Lambert, something not right at the core of Aston Villa is there?
Yes. It's name is the Randy and Paul circus.
-
Welsh twat...
Duh?
-
One thing the last two games have done is totally slam the nail through the brain of the "we can do this with kids" nonsense.
You'd have a point if the more experinced players were up to anything.
-
I am ashamed of this club.
No one makes you support Villa. A little embarrased yes, but never ashamed of being a Villa fan. Get a fucking grip.
You're right and I didn't imply anyone was. I wrote a thought through statement. I am ashamed of what Villa have become and how we managed (or mismanaged) to get to this bomb site of a situation.
Anyone feeling only 'a little embarrassed' by what is going on should have a word with themselves.
-
One thing the last two games have done is totally slam the nail through the brain of the "we can do this with kids" nonsense.
You'd have a point if the more experinced players were up to anything.
Well, not really - you're right, the more experienced players have been gash, too, but we have a squad bereft of experience or quality.
If you look at the teams around us, how does our squad match up? Not very well.
-
I am ashamed of this club.
No one makes you support Villa. A little embarrased yes, but never ashamed of being a Villa fan. Get a fucking grip.
I am ashamed of what is happening but never ashamed of Aston Villa. As the man said get a fucking grip.
The team in these two games have hugely shamed the club. The entire set up is an absolute shameful disgrace fro top to bottom, starting with that c*** Lerner.
-
Desperate times, time to get the checkbook out this
January. Massive game against Wigan,
-
One thing the last two games have done is totally slam the nail through the brain of the "we can do this with kids" nonsense.
We were always going to struggle relying on so many of them, and we were particularly going to find it hard to bounce back from a trouncing like Chelsea with them. Who do they look to for leadership in the dressing room?
I agree with this. We need both depth and some experience. Quickly. But we do have a core of young players that have a lot of potential, and I will love the day when Lambert proves the likes of Risso wrong, who I must add wanted Lambert as manager in the summer
-
La,bert seems to be escaping a lot of flak but this is shocking, dropping bent was stupid but we don't seem to be getting better , we have been a shambles the last 2 games and in all my years watching villa never have I seem such shit as this last 2 games- -12 goal diff from 2 games s a joke!
Yeah it's starting to look like he's gambled with our future big style by having that "who's got the biggest dick" match with Bent.
-
Time to pack it in Lambert, something not right at the core of Aston Villa is there?
Yes. It's name is the Randy and Paul circus.
Without doubt these two are to blame for the fuckup that is Aston Villa. Randy needs to get a grip and sort it out, start by backing his manager.
Randy needs to shit or get off the pot....
-
Lambert has made mistakes but the sort of form we're in at the moment is a fairly straight progression from where we were heading throughout the second half of last season.
-
I am ashamed of this club.
Any need to call him a ******? Rapists, murderers, Thatcher, all ******, but a guy who overspent at a football club?
-
One thing the last two games have done is totally slam the nail through the brain of the "we can do this with kids" nonsense.

That's the crumb of comfort - at least Lerner can't go into January with his convenient delusions that we can get out of this shit on the cheap, which he was probably thinking after Liverpool.
-
Players should be ashamed....Supporters should'nt be ashamed....embarrassed yes ....ashamed never, if you are then clear off and support someone else.
Ireland and Kea should be for their can't be arsed performances
-
dude, this franchise is fucked
-
La,bert seems to be escaping a lot of flak but this is shocking, dropping bent was stupid but we don't seem to be getting better , we have been a shambles the last 2 games and in all my years watching villa never have I seem such shit as this last 2 games- -12 goal diff from 2 games s a joke!
Yeah it's starting to look like he's gambled with our future big style by having that "who's got the biggest dick" match with Bent.
Yeah, Bent would have scored dozens this season, with the one chance we create every other game.
-
It is far more Lerner's fault than Lambert's.
Lambert bought the players in, and they're all lower league players on low wages to fit in with the wage bill slashing.
Faulkner, meanwhile, thinks playing loads of children means you turn into Ajax.
You forgot to add FACT!
-
bright future?
Oh come on, we all know that was just a marketing tool that was nice for a game or two. Who cares about it? We're second best to Tottenham, these things happen. Ashamed? Fine, don't bother wearing your Villa scarf and shirt for a week or two. Proud a few days ago when we beat Liverpool but now we have a couple of heavy defeats the world is caving in and the four horsemen of the apocalypse are coming to Aston Villa. Worse things happen in the world and we'll get better. No need for over-reactions.
-
One thing the last two games have done is totally slam the nail through the brain of the "we can do this with kids" nonsense.

Very worried now about going down the team have no composure or strength.I applaud PL for wanting to build for the future but the here and now is so bad we are a laughing stock. We are as bad as anything I have seen of us
-
One thing the last two games have done is totally slam the nail through the brain of the "we can do this with kids" nonsense.
That's the crumb of comfort - at least Lerner can't go into January with his convenient delusions that we can get out of this shit on the cheap, which he was probably thinking after Liverpool.
I don't think he really gives too much of a shit any more, to be honest.
So long as we clamber out of the relegation places come the end of the season, that's all he's concerned about.
-
La,bert seems to be escaping a lot of flak but this is shocking, dropping bent was stupid but we don't seem to be getting better , we have been a shambles the last 2 games and in all my years watching villa never have I seem such shit as this last 2 games- -12 goal diff from 2 games s a joke!
Yeah it's starting to look like he's gambled with our future big style by having that "who's got the biggest dick" match with Bent.
I don't think Bent would have made much difference...
-
Thank fuck that's over with.
Embarrasing, yes, ashamed, never.
-
Warren Barton looks sickened by our display on Fox Sports!
-
But at least he can't hide behind this prudent custodian bull because games like this show how much he's risking our necks.
-
Be positive, only half of the previous game :-[ :-[ :-[
-
Players should be ashamed....Supporters should'nt be ashamed....embarrassed yes ....ashamed never, if you are then clear off and support someone else.
Ireland and Kea should be for their can't be arsed performances
What other emotions would you like to ban supporters from feeling? If you could write out a list (preferably in order of importance) I'll gladly curb my opinions so they are identical to yours.
Sorry for thinking for myself.
Baa Baa Baa

We have been going backwards for two years.
Relegation this season would be a disaster. The TV deal is huge next season, we could be looking at a very barren decade if we drop this season and retain the current 'custodians'. I don't know why fans haven't turned on Lerner. Three seasons in a row fighting relegation is beneath our status. I mean three seasons in a row?
In 1995 we spent, in 2003 we spent, in 2006 we changed owner. What have we done this time? Get worse?

Spuds are only 1/2 as good as Chelski

Is he green with a bucket nearby?

I'm not going to get onto that hoary old chestnut. But it was more a general point about how Lambert has to be judged on his decisions all season, which have got us here. There was a lot of dodgy trend-calling going on after the unbeaten run, based on sketchy evidence imo.
-
bright future?
Oh come on, we all know that was just a marketing tool that was nice for a game or two. Who cares about it? We're second best to Tottenham, these things happen. Ashamed? Fine, don't bother wearing your Villa scarf and shirt for a week or two. Proud a few days ago when we beat Liverpool but now we have a couple of heavy defeats the world is caving in and the four horsemen of the apocalypse are coming to Aston Villa. Worse things happen in the world and we'll get better. No need for over-reactions.
Amen. This is shit, but 2 weeks ago we were sublime. We can judge only at the end of the season. We know from the signing of Bent a couple of years ago that Lerner will put his hand in his pocket when he absolutely needs to

No, you don't like that I have an argument against your continual, part of the time bile filled, vitriol against the club. Re poster I used to respect, ditto.

In my opinion, We probably have one of the best managers (and backroom staff) to lead us out of the shite were in.

You're the one having a go at other posters continually, if you don't like what I have to say just ignore it. I shouldn't have to put up with this twattish behavior from a so called moderator though.

why the fuck isn't Bannan or Weimann playing? I can't understand if he's trying to rotate the team so if so where is Gabby? Why didn't Ireland start?
I swear any hint of progress we make we manage to fuck it up very quick.
Weimann injured for 2/3 weeks was reported on here in the pre-thread

But what makes you think that?
That's a genuine question, by the way, not a snarky one!

I was a great fan of Lambo since he was in Norwich's books and I remain convinced that he is the right man for the job but I must admit that, like against Pool, I haven't understood his tactics yesterday. Apart from the awful approach to the game and the total lack of consistency of the team, how can you deliver the keys of the midfield in the hands of two championship-level players like Delph and KEA? And how can you play together two lightweighs like Ireland & Holman when it has just been proved (the last time time at Anfield) that they can't play together? P.S. Why Weimann didn't play nor was in the bench?
-
Look, he needed to keep it tight for this game and some players needed a rest. A point tonight would give us a great platform to go on and beat Wigan. Draw Spurs tonight and beat Wigan and we'd be looking at needing only about five more wins this season to be pretty sure of staying up.
There is no answer bar a win next game..they wiped us!
I'm looking beyond staying up, win today and we will be 4 points of 8th place , it's really congested mid table and no reason why we can't get amongst it.

I think the money situation is dire and that is part of the reason were in this mess. There aren't many managers who can work like this and although he has had a tough start I just think and hope he can deliver.

if we were a dog, we'd be a rain soaked, beaten, abandoned, ugly and very shit dog
Possibly the best quote of all time.
