First time I have ever seen that. What a massive blow that was to that season, as Tony Barton had signed some interesting players that close season.

I remember seeing Sid on Central News not long after the leg break - ex Goon Michael Bentine was on the same show as a guest and he pointed him to a friend of his who was an expert consultant of some kind who could help get him back to full fitness a lot sooner.
Don't know what happened after that but just seeing Sid and Bentine chatting on the telly was surreal enough.
