Heart says 2-1 win, head says 2-1 defeat as we never win there. On the plus side, the only time I can remember us winning there in the last 30 years was a LCQF.

Can see this one going to extra time. I imagine we'll stick with three at the back. Not sure I he'll make changes otherwise? Maybe rest bannan, gabby?

I reckon Norwich will want to win this more than any match of the season.

It's going to be tough, but we've done well in the cup so far, so hopefully we can get another victory.

I just can't see us doing this. I think we'll lose 3-0. I can't decide wherever I'd rather win this or win at Anfield.

It's a really tough away game against one of the form teams in the country. We have a lot of spirit though and a new defensive resilience. If we can just find that spark up front we can do it. My heart says 1-0 to us. My head's not invited to vote.

1-0 to us.

Ciaran Clark header beats the keeper but is punched away by Grant Holt (who is sent off).
Bentekes penalty is saved but he runs in to score on the rebound.

When was the last time we lost to a side outside the top two? I think it was Fulham, which is a fair way back. So if we take it seriously I think we'll run them close.

But I'd prefer to win at Anfield next weekend.

Lambert will want to win this a lot more than he will probably admit to. He will put out his strongest side. And with the way the defence played saturday, cannot see him changing much. Possibly Given and KEA if Westwood is cup-tied 0-1 Gabby ......

Am a bit worried how much we need the likes of Westwood and Benteke in the team week in, week out. They're performing well but you do worry about burnout later in the season when so much is placed on their young shoulders.

I forgot Westwood was cup tied. Probably KEA for him; maybe Weimann in one of the front roles. Would be nice to think we could trust our £24m fwd to lead the line and give Benteke a rest, but not sure we can.

Given - herd Clark baker - Lowton kea delph lichaj - Ireland - weimann Benteke

I can't believe people are impying Liverpool is the bigger game. We surely have a better chance of winning at Norwich than Liverpool.

We are 2 games away from competing in a cup final to win something at Wembley. Go for it !

It surely aint the premiership or the cup. They aint exclusive of each other. We are not Albion.

They are on a very good run and will be up for this one; we are difficult to beat but ultimately not very good at present so I see 0-0 at 90 minutes and that fat bastard Grant Holt to get the winner in extra time

Would like to see Given, Ireland and Bent given a run out and N'Zogbia if fit

Don't think we will be victorious in this.  Presume Given, Bent, El Hamadi, Delph etc will play.
However I will not be too downhearted if we lose, we have a greater battle to win this season and extra cup matches may well impede this.

If either Bennett or Stevens are back I'd bring them in and give Lowton a rest. Move Lichaj over or else play Herd there. Norwich only play with one up top and Hoolahan in behind. Might not be the game to go with 3 centre backs and Herd is comfortable at right back.

Thought Norwich looked tired towards the end of their last 2 games. Lambert going back to his former club so we wont be going down without a serious fight. Could be a shock win for us I reckon. Kea and Delph will start I reckon. Ireland, Benteke, gabby probably too. I'd drop Gabby for Weimann but can't see Lambert doing that

They are in terrific form and are a real force at their place, so I think they will probably win. However, when the pressure's off in the cup the lads do look a bit more fluent and less risk-averse when attacking - for reference, see Man City away - so we should hardly be totally hopeless here.

Agree, with Gabby out wide. Have to take it to them. If N'Zogbia is fit I'd be tempted to start him too - the guy has loads of ability which has proved so frustrating, if only PL could get him playing at his maximum - he kept Wigan up with his 9 goals two seasons ago. I wish we had Hatem Ben Arfa of Newcastle, he's terrific attacking from midfield - N'Zogbia looked similar at Wigan - why can't he do it for us??

Think we'll sneak a tight win here. We'll go 2 nil up in the first half, they'll press us like mad, score a late one and set us up for a sphincter twitching last last ten mins where we catch them on the break to make it 1-3.

The game was talked about on Talksport this morning, although from the Norwich perspective.  They went from 'putting Norwich as favourites' to talking about could they get to the final and who they would like in the semi.  Basically totally ignoring us and writing us off, despite some decent recent form.

That's annoying. I would put them as favourites, but it's not Barca-Brentford, both sides have a more than decent chance of winning.

Mind you, Talksport are a collection of barely sentient, evolutionarily-subnormal ape-twats, so I don't mind what they say too much.

Will be interesting to see whether both sides put out their strongest sides or make a few changes.

Norwich will be favourites but nowhere near to the degree man city were and we know what happened there.

They were favourites when we played them in the quarter final replay on a Tuesday night at Carrow Road. The Villa fans turned up in great numbers, drank the place dry, sang their hearts out and watched us beat the Canaries.

To all going tonight, enjoy yourselves.

We need a win for two reasons. Obviously firstly it'd be great to get to a cup semi, but secondly we need to start getting the feeling of winning games in order to translate that into league form. They're favourites but it's a very winnable game if we perform. Not having Westwood is a big loss, but I hope Bent plays and scores.

Will they have a decent crowd? 3000 noisy Villa fans will create a great atmosphere.

I was supposed to be going today but had to pull out. Had a phone call for a 2nd interview for a job I really want! 2 hour presentation to do instead.

Will be there in spirit and cheering the lads on via the radio instead. Come on you Lions!

I hope the subject of the presentation is why you shouldn't put your career ahead of the Villa?

I've just got a text from a mate saying he's heard a rumour it's going to be called off.  I have no idea how substantial that is though.  Fingers crossed for those that made the trip (and a small smile for myself as my lift fell through and I couldn't go).

Just arrived at my hotel in Norwich.  Norwich is clear and about 3 degrees outside.  I did fear a problem earlier today as Suffolk and Cambs was covered in thick fog but it's as clear as can be outside at the moment.

But those travelling to and from Carrow Road this evening for Norwich City’s Capital One cup clash against Aston Villa shouldn’t have too many problems.

Phil Garner, from Norwich-based Weatherquest, said: “It’s going to be cold this evening but it will be dry and clear all the way through the game.

“The air is just so dry at the moment that there won’t be ice or frost and the paths and pavements running up to the ground will be ok.”

He continued: “Temperatures during the game will fall close to below freezing so a good scarf, hat and thick coat are in order for those going to Carrow Road tonight. But hopefully there will be enough excitement to keep the fans warm.”

Pet hate of mine. Weather forecasters treating people like 6 years olds and telling them how to dress !

Tuesday 11.12.12 KO 7:45pm

0-4 away win

Westwood 24
Bannan 43
Lichaj 68
Bent 76

Not bad on the prediction, but to not get ANY of the scorers when we score 4 takes some doing! ;)
