Last few weeks have been to watch my local team here in Alicante province - Elche. cf
Doing well in the Spanish equivalent of our Championship. Top at the moment so could make La Liga next season
Just got back from the game tonight - beat Villareal who were relegated from La Liga last year.
Great surprise when they announced the teams and Olof Mellberg was in the Villareal team.
Had a good game , Maybe I'm a bit biased. Had the Elche centre forward well under control
but nothing he could do to about the Elche winning goal.
Great to see him still playing well - Legend

Has a great playing career. Making a decent fist of it as a manager. Fucks to give about his appearance…zero.

Yes, he is a legend.

Looks as though he has just been woken up from a very long sleep.

He reminded me of Maximilian Schell in the second greatest film ever made - The Black Hole.

He looks like Nick Nolte in Down and Out in Beverley Hills, pre-haircut/shower.

About to be names new head coach of St Louis City in MLS. Now two former Villa managing in the league with Deano in Charlotte.
-
St Louis City. Another imaginative job with the team naming, well done MLS...
-
Olof Mellberg splashed £40,000 on 3,100 Villa kits, given to every one of the fans who travelled to see Villa at West Ham in his final game for Villa #OnThisDay.
This would cost £372,000 if done today.

Not sure your maths are correct. Weren't they £60 quid RRP back then and are now £85/£110 depending on fan/pro. So £100k or so. Not that he paid full price then or would now as neither time was under Doug.

Bigger numbers, bigger headlines.
I pinched it from someone else but he he did "reportedly" splash out 40k for just over 3000...didn't he?
-
No idea how much he spent but it would have worked out around £12 per shirt at those numbers which we definitely were not selling them for in the shop, even for end of season lines.

I dunno I think they would of been around the £12-£15 mark at the end of the season 18 odd years ago. You can buy a shirt now from the OS for £25, inflation, materials cost etc and all that I reckon those numbers add up.
-
Still only doubles the price but call it £100k* to add extras. The figure quoted in the original post seems to be at the RRP for the shirt as new.
*And tbh it would still have been about 1 weeks wages for him now as it was then.

I'm glad this is finally being tackled.
-
And I'm glad to make you glad.
-
Pretty telling he didn't do it for a home game the tight fecker.

Say that to his face...he'd smash you with his hammer.

Imagine the poor buggers stuck behind him at the club shop while he get the names printed
