Title: VMF - the villa restaurant
Post by: rutski on November 14, 2012, 03:59:17 PM
Has anyone eaten there? the menus are sent through to my email and they look great. is it worth the effort to get to the ground and the prices are okish, how does it compare with other restaurants of its ilk, price wise,  in town?
dont want to seem to go all gregg wallace on you!

Is this the same as the Corner Flag ? Went in there a few years ago for my brothers birthday and it was pretty good. Doug was sat in the corner having his lunch.

If it's the one up by the Holte, it's very good indeed!

I was in there on Sunday and it was absolutely superb.

From the moment you arrive the staff have the class of a Michelin starred venue, even though most are students.

If you do go, ask the South African head about his home made Billtong.

Been 5 times I think. Been to a themed night, regular night and Sunday roast.  The food is very good and in very nice surroundings in the Trinity Road stand. Highly recommend!

Certainly is not the same as the Corner Flag.  That's like comparing a Michelin Starred restaurant with a Little Chef.  Both serve their purpose but VMF really is on a different level. I have eaten there twice and can't speak highly enough of it.

Like, Surrey Villain, I've been there twice on a Sunday in the past 12 months for family birthday celebrations. The first time we went, this time last year, we were sat at the same table as the away directors use on matchdays; despite my wife sitting in the same seat as Delia Smith had sat in the week before, her cooking hasn't improved since! The staff are nearly all students and this is probably the reason the meals are such good value; we were very impressed with the quality on both occasions, and the staff are very attentive.

No hesitation in recommending.

Highly recommended - excellent food and service - you get a few food snobs as fellow guests but the staff don't mind common people being there! And they treat you all very well regardless of your background.

Been there 3 times this year.  Excellent place to eat.  The desserts are my favourite.

How do we get in?!

Via the main club entrance in Trinity Road, immediately behind the William McGregor statue. There is a concierge at the desk to the right hand side as you go through the doors who will send you in the right direction.

Enjoy!

I 've been  quite a few times, and always really enjoyed it.The standard of food is really good, you would probably pay 3 times as much (maybe more) for something of that quality in the city centre.
The new menu might not be everyone's cup of tea though, it includes pigeon and lamb's tongue.

Just back from a lovely evening at VMF restaurant.

Food was delicious and beautifully presented.  Staff were very friendly and we will definitely be going there again.

They've got a Kickin Kids Party on the 1st of December. I might take mine if they keep misbehaving.
