Can still remember exactly where I was sitting that day, and the headline in the paper the day after - "6 HIT VILLA!"
-
Didier Six absolutely murdered the current England right back at the time. An unbelievable debut. He never got close to that standard again.
-
Back in the days when a foreign signing made national sports news. That was definately the highlight of an average season. The only other games I remember fondly from that year were beating Albion 3-1 on New Years Day, beating Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 at Easter and a 3-0 win at Coventry in the freezing cold in January. I also remember beating Stoke and Six scoring on quite a depressing Wednesday night in March with only 10,000 there. I think it was a warm up for the infamous Southampton game a year later.
-
Why was I nervous watching that? Remember the game well, great debut by Six, a rocking Villa Park and a result to match.
-
I'm pretty sure I went straight from that game to a Quo concert at the NEC.
I seem to remember quite a bit of trouble after the game, although I think that was normal against that lot in those days.
-
Six was crap after that wasn't he.

Yes

Interesting that the commentator says that Day, Ormsby and Williams are all playing despite being on the transfer list and they all ended up at Leeds. Although in Ormsby's case it was twelve months later and in Williams' case nearly three years later.

I met a bloke from York whilst watching a game a few months ago in Shanghai and he reckons Gary Williams was a barman in York. Can anybody confirm this?
-
No he isnt. He works in IT. Was about in Wolverhampton a few months ago.

Cheers Ron. This bloke did say it was a few years ago, but I am not sure how long.
