No team news?
-
Given, Lowton, Vlaar [c], Herd, Lichaj, KEA, Weimann, Bannan, Ireland, Agbonlahor, Benteke
-
subs: Guzan, Bent, Albrighton, Holman, Delph, Stevens, Burke. #AVFCLIVE
-
Grrr i forgot the clocks had gone back, still another hour to go, utv!
-
Given, Lowton, Vlaar [c], Herd, Lichaj, KEA, Weimann, Bannan, Ireland, Agbonlahor, Benteke
Interesting line up - nice to see Weimann get a game and gabby is lucky to keep his place - let's hope he delivers - certainly looks an attack minded team.
-
Fuck me, Bent still can't get in
-
Very attacking line up - presumably on the assumption we won't need an out and out ball winner in midfield and we can pass our way through them. Think we'll win this comfortably now. Lichaj and KEA are one card away from suspension, so if I'm honest I'd have liked them to have picked those up on Saturday and missed this one but be back for the PL games as we're so thin on the ground, but we are where we are.
-
Looks a more positive line up than we had on Saturday - been looking forward to seeing Weimann and benteke together , I'm feeling optimistic now.
-
Christ he's clearly trying to make a point with Bent and I'm disappointed Westwood isn't involved. However nice attacking team so come on you Villa boys.

Westwood is cup tied.
-
Oh and thank the lord that Albrighton and Delph are not in the team.
-
Oh and thank the lord that Albrighton and Delph are not in the team.
Good point
-
Fuck me, Bent still can't get in
We've got O'Neil mk II here - another bloody minded manager.
He is rapidly losing credit with me - In lambert we trust - bollocks !!
-
Bent on the bench, again and why has Guzan been put on the bench when he is our best keeper ? I hope Given doesnt have one of his hollow hand moments.
-
Guzan dropped after Saturdays performance?
-
Rested.
-
Oh and thank the lord that Albrighton and Delph are not in the team.
Amen. Though why is Bent not playing? Bizarre!
-
Gabby and Weimann as wide forwards in a 4-3-3? Sounds good.
It seems that Bent truly is surplus to requirements as there's no system we now play that would possibly suit his style. Why Lambert chose him as his first captain as the villa manager I will never know. Lambert must have known very little about Bent before he was appointed.
-
Fuck me, Bent still can't get in
Possibly resting him for his return to Sunderland on Saturday?
-
While we're playing so badly you can pick endless holes in the team selection. There's a method behind it all I'm sure, it just needs to work at some point.
I think Bent is going, not a good move in my book, goalscorers are as rare as rocking horse shit. Hope it all works out.

Nev, I can't see any method in anything he does - I hope I'm wrong but I have serious, serious doubts about him
-
Its would be heart breaking to see Bent scoring his normal 20ish goals next season for someone else.

I still have the utmost faith in Lambert, but the thing that frustrates me is his apparent stubbornness to stick to 4-4-2. Out midfield simply isn't good enough to not put 5 in there.

You just know that's what will happen too.

I hope so - a front three like that is what I've been touting for a while; hope it delivers. hoever, against an agressive lower-league team I'm not sure the MF three will be able to hold their line.
-

You just know that's what will happen too.
He knows he will be playing premier league football again. As for us...

I disagree, this is a 4 3 3 I'm sure.
As for Benr, I don't think he deserves a start at the moment. Shay is now our second string and cup keeper, like Guzan was last year. Brad will be back on Saturday even if Given has a blinder.

So we should drop Benteke?
-
His treatment of Bent is really worrying me. It's not like were getting results without him, we're absolutely shit. Lambert is in danger of making himself look a pig headed fool, if he hasn't done so already
-

Last year we were in disbelief that we ended up fighting relegation. From what I have read on H & V so far this season, most have accepted from an early stage that this season we will be in a battle with about five or six other teams to avoid that trap door.
-
When Bent comes on he doesn't even touch the ball, he hasn't made pressing claims for a start the last few matches.
-
How many villa going tonight?

So we should drop Benteke?
No we should have bent in gabbys place!
A regular goalscorer or a striker 28 league games without a goal?
-
I think Lambert is trying to give Benteke maximum amount of time to gain some decent form. Another goal tonight and his scoring record for the season will be very impressive (but sadly not all of them were for us).

Benteke has cost us a few times this season already, he is nowhere near Prem class imo.
-
No we should have bent in gabbys place!
Bent isn't the right sort of player to play off Benteke, imo, he like to play off the last defenders shoulder which is where we want Benteke. Personally I think it's Bent or Benteke and currently Lambert is favouring the big man.

Weimann will work well with benteke , if it comes to gabby or bent though I'd choose bent.
-
Just a hunch but I'm starting to get the impression that Lambert and Bent aren't getting on too well.
-
Oi, Lambo. Football pitches have wide areas. You've seen those white line thingies? Near them!
-
Like a lot of supporters I cannot understand what the manager thinks he is doing by persistently dropping Darren Bent and playing the utterly useless Agbonlahor.
I cannot understand why Darren Bent was made team captain and then relieved of the job within a couple of weeks without it seems the courtesy of an explanation.
Paul Lambert seems to have problems with man management techniques and speaking clearly during interviews.
Its only the end of October though and the situation we find ourselves in has time to improve.
Should it stay the same around the end of the year, however, Mr Lambert might find he has become.........TSM!
Finally we are only four points behind Liverpool!
-

He doesn't need a rest, he's had plenty

There's definitely a case of "biting you nose to spite your face" with persevering with Benteke however he is improving and the potential rewards for the whole team are greater than what Bent can provide. The key word is potential though.

Anyway there are plenty of other threads to debate that, this is a match thread so, c'mon boys!!!!!

Yes that's nonsense, however I'm seriously concerned with Lambert's treatment of Bent it is ridiculous. We are not winning games and he gets goals, he's barely played and he's our top goalscorer. He should be playing and if Lambert wants to play a two then it should be Bent with Benteke.
-
If anybody needs me I'll be in Off Topic.

Which bit? The bit about him costing us? Sitters missed against Spurs at 0-0 and Fulham when we were a goal down could have made a big difference. I don't think he is the answer. I will say though that he does link the play better than Bent, but a top finisher he aint. Thats just my opinion.
-
I think something happened behind the scenes. Lambert wouldn't have chosen Bent as his first villa captain unless he had serious plans of keeping him as an integral first team member.
A matter of weeks later he's like our third or fourth striker. Such behaviour wouldn't reflect well on the manager's judgement, that's why I think there's something else at play.
-
Bent bleating to the papers probably hasn't helped the relationship.

Not defending corners has certainly cost us.

Have you all clocked that we are the commentary game on BBC Radio 5live? The Beeb are obviously hoping to give air time to that cock Di Canio after a giantkilling.

Indeed and his goal at the weekend got us a point we didn't really deserve.

Maybe its because for the last two games he has delivered absolutley fuck all and I mean really fuck all. We are not creating chances while he is on the pitch because our game is based around work rate. We are making chances when benteke is on the pitch because he is helping to make that happen. If we ere playing a two up then yes I would like to see them both together, but this isn;t a 4-4-2 tonight it's a 4-3-3 and playing Bent as a wide forward is a complete waste of time. You could also argue that he is seeing e=what a different formation and line up can deliver in an easier environment than the PL.

But we need Prem quality NOW, not in the future. Maybe he and others will become top players but we are not in a position to wait to find out. I think we should play Bent and find a way to get the ball to him cos he is our best striker by a mile.
-
Phew! I can turn AVTV off now.

From the youtube clips of Benteke in Belguim he appeared to play on the left of an attacking three. Lambert seems to prefer him in the centre. There is the option of playing Benteke on the left, Bent in the centre and Gabby on the right.
Mods, am I allowed to call the Bent lovers 'Benders'?
-
Jesus, I typed that badly didn't I?

See I disagree, I think for our club to move forward we need to get rid of Bent as soon as possible, his ego (warrented with his record) can't be doing any good for dressing room harmony.
I don't rate Bent's work rate or footballing ability at all, yes he is a goal scorer, but with our team not set up for a striker of his style, he is a luxury we cannot afford.
So I commend Lambert for being brave enough to see past the reputation and try and do what's best for the team, figures crossed it doesn't back fire.
-
It's Gabby that needs to be dropped, not Bent or Benteke.

I've opted for 5 live ahead of wm - long time since I listened to a game on the radio- just like the old days.

I think there's a definite element of "we're not worthy" around Bent with some Villa fans.

Atwell is an awful referee.

It seems very strange listening to a game on the radio these days. And yet it wasn't that long ago when live commentary would have been a real highlight.

No, I mean him having an ego is understandable, but it IMO must be doing more bad than good, especially when he isn't playing.

Not to worry , I'll get all the excitement second hand on here.

Good applause all round for Stan
-
Joe Jordan. So it is. Ta.
-
Make that 3-0 Reading.
-
Reading 3-0
-
reading 3 up
-
How we getting on? Do we look like the Prem team ? ;/
BBC commentator said not. Not looking like 2 divisions' difference.
Arse 0-2 down to Reading.
3 down now.
-
Are Villa 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 or...?
-
Reading three
-
Gotta move fast at half time - faggot and mushy pea batches on the agenda!
Seems our fans are out singing the locals so far.
That's all Coventry is famous for.
I thought that was the Black Country delicacy?
Grey peas and bacon, Bilston.
-
hope that does not give Reading confidence for the league

Arsenal usually field their ladies' team in the League Cup

Ireland not on the wavelength

Arsenal usually field their ladies' team in the League Cup
but they would beat Reading

How are Reading getting on ?

Arsenal are having a Doncaster moment. Wenger out!
-
El ahmedi sloppy again.
-
Arsenal usually field their ladies' team in the League Cup
Arsenal: Martinez, Jenkinson, Koscielny, Djourou, Miquel, Arshavin, Frimpong, Coquelin, Walcott, Chamakh, Gnabry. Subs: Shea, Giroud, Squillaci, Bellerin, Eisfeld, Meade, Yennaris.
Who?!

El ahmedi sloppy again.
A common theme

Watch the knockers appear.
Best offer I've had in ages!
-
In tune with the discussion on "Good enough / not good enough", KEA just gives the ball away. Worrying.
-
Toto Squillaci must be 50. So much for Wenger fielding kids.
-
Listening on R5, they're certainly not missing out on coverage of other games.
-
Gnabry ? Surely that's just a made up player
-
ffs Villa
-
Villa clear it off the line. Lowton.
-
Lowton off the line.
-
Dangerous moment then.
-
Lowton saves on the line - Swindon close.
-
Fuck me that sounded close.
-
off the line
-
Off the line by Lowton!

Benteke miscontrol.

Benteke bad 1st touch- Swindon playing well- end to end now.
-
needs a Froggy postage stamper
-
Swindon playing the way we used to play as the lower-league underdog back in the 1970's ... aaah, nostalgia.
-
Benteke having "no change out of the Swindon defence" according to SSN. And Swindon are the better side apperently. How depressing.
-
Hopefully that will wake us up.

we need to see someone take responsibility (it's a general point about this and other recent games, I'm not watching the game)

Ping pong in our box
no wonder Arse are losing if he is in Swindon. ooh GOAL! Get in
-
Bentekkers!
-
Ireland to Benteke. 1-0.
-
Assist from Ireland. Header from Benteke. Herd off injured and Stevens on.
-
Scored with ten men on the pitch. Stevens on now.
-
Stevens on for Herd. Our CB injury crisis grows.
-
Are Belgium playing again today?
-
Benteke yes
-
Yeah Benteke are not good enuf for our squd, what r lamburt doin?
-
Great cross from Ireland, why does he not play??
-
Lets take these turkeys!
-
Good lad.
-
Great cross from Ireland, why does he not play??
No praise for Benteke?
-
I like the way Joe Jordan is using the respectful definite article, "the Villa" all the time.
Good man.
-
Herd injured?
-
Let's put this game to bed Villa. I will read it a story if necessary
-
Great work from Gabby to set up Ireland for the assist to Benteke.
Rejoice you Benders!
-
Yeah Benteke are not good enuf for our squd, what r lamburt doin?
Here we go. He missed a sitter and now has scored against a League one side. Does not make him Prem class.
Still thank fuck for that.
-
Herd injured?
Yes, sadly.
-
Sounds like one striker dropped deep to take a centre half with him and Ireland ran into the space.
-
Gabby had a load of bottles thrown at him from the Swindon crowd !!
-
Swindon go close again.
-
Wondering if Bent will play centre back at Sunderland...
-
This commentator on 5 live loves saying El Ahmedi in a certain way- its like watching Homeland.
-
1961, 1975, 1977, 1994, 1996, 2013 ?
-
Yeah Benteke are not good enuf for our squd, what r lamburt doin?
Here we go. He missed a sitter and now has scored against a League one side. Does not make him Prem class.
Still thank fuck for that.
How do you know it was a sitter? Have you seen it? Why not praise a 21 year old who now has 3 in 7 appearances rather than knocking him all the time?
-
Nice one Benteke
-
Weimann not getting much of a mention .
-
Yeah Benteke are not good enuf for our squd, what r lamburt doin?

Still thank fuck for that.

All the time???
-

Here we go. He missed a sitter and now has scored against a League one side. Does not make him Prem class.
Still thank fuck for that.
May not be EPL class, but he scores for a very good Belgian national side (that's irony by the way).
What we should be trying to do is blend his raw talent with Bent's developed capability ... but then I'm not the manager!
I'm glad that Weimann is getting game-time.
-
I like the way Joe Jordan is using the respectful definite article, "the Villa" all the time.
Good man.
Yep. Always good to hear that, even from a vowel-mangler like Jordan.
-
Yeah Benteke are not good enuf for our squd, what r lamburt doin?
Here we go. He missed a sitter and now has scored against a League one side. Does not make him Prem class.
Still thank fuck for that.
You've worked out he's not PL class, even though he's scored in 2 of his 6 PL appearances, and scored our last goal in the competition?
I'm not saying he's going to be a goalscoring legend, but I don't see how you can make such a judgement on him quite so quickly, especially when the evidence doesn't point your way.
-
Yeah Benteke are not good enuf for our squd, what r lamburt doin?

Still thank fuck for that.
You can only score against the opposition in front of you day to day. That is 3 goals now and 9 for him in the season including 3 international ones. And did you see this sitter he missed earlier. Just asking as everyone seems to describe the Fulham one as a sitter when he did well to get it as close as he did.
-
Seems like irelands playing well- Swindon still looking dangerous though.
-
all swindon

He's scored and yet every time you've mentioned him in this thread you've been knocking him.
And have you seen this sitter?
-
reading 4
-
Seem to be a lot of dangerous crosses coming into our box - still need to score again I think .
4-0 reading.
-
Seems like irelands playing well- Swindon still looking dangerous though.
Where are you watching it?
-
Must be the Arsenal Ladies reserves. 4-0 now.
-
Reading four
-
4-0 Reading.

Its just my opinion based on what I have seen of him. He misses too many chances before he scores and for a side that create as little as we do I think that is a problem. I hope he proves me wrong but I just see it the way I see it.
-
Every striker on the planet misses more than they score.
-
Must be the Arsenal Ladies reserves. 4-0 now.
I've got that on in the background, and Arsenal have been beyond pathetic, the goalie is dreadful, and Arshavin is practically sat having a picnic as the match goes on around him.
-
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL
-
GABBY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Our full backs appear to be struggling .
Reading made 6 changes tonight 2-0 gabby.
-
gabby scores
-
2!
-
Gabby!!!!!!!
-
Good news. If Lambo proves crap, Wenger will be available. :o
-
YEEEEES!
-
Gabby you beauty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take that, fascist!
-
The national media must be rather downcast at this point.
-
Gabby!!!!
-
Stick that up your arses, you disrespectful hay-munching no-marks.
-
Two! Nice one Gabby.
-
Get in GabbbBBBBBBBBBYYYY. Needed that aftyer the Swindon pressure
-
Radio 5 have missed every goal
-
Agbonlascores!
-
Boro winning as well
-
pubehead losing
-
Maybe gabby and given should just play cup games!
-
Slick coverage on FiveLive... missed both goals. Couldn't care less... keep it up lads.
-
Radio 5 have missed every goal
The 'media hate us' conspiracy continues ;)
-
If 5Live allege that they're covering the Villa game live it would be nice of them to actually cover the goals as they go in.
-
Get Bent on Lambert FFS
-
Hmm, my accumulator is Reading, Boro and Bradford, the first two coming in at the moment, the last one 0-0.
Pays 400 notes. Which would be rather nice.
-
Gaaabbbbyyyy 2nd assist Ireland
-
OK fellas. Let's all be nice. Benteke and Gabby are superb. We do not need Bent to start. We do not even need centre backs. Against lower league opposition during the 1st half, at least.
-
Great. go elsewhere for the commentary. We'll win 55-0 at this rate.
-
Stick that up your arses, you disrespectful hay-munching no-marks.
This sums it up pefectly !
-
All the Prem teams losing. Maybe, just maybe......
-
great stuff Villa
-
We only seem to get the commentary match when Radio 5 sense a lower league upset on the cards.
Stick that in your pipe
-
Why anyone would listen to a national station itching for an upset, as opposed to a local station with knowledge and coverage from our point of view is beyond me.
-
Another goal and surely the quarter final draw awaits.
-
Referring again to the "good enough / not good enough" thread, comments on Gabby? ...
... yes, I know it's Swindon!
-
2-0 gabby
-
Radio 5 have missed every goal
The 'media hate us' conspiracy continues ;)
wish they would f**k off to Reading again
-
Get Bent on Lambert FFS
Agreed. Unless Lambert really has got some massive point to prove, putting Bent on in the second half and telling him to 'show us what you can do' seems like it would be a good move.
-
Its just my opinion based on what I have seen of him. He misses too many chances before he scores and for a side that create as little as we do I think that is a problem. I hope he proves me wrong but I just see it the way I see it.
Darren Bent misses sitters, remember 'Arrys 'my gran could have scored that one' comment. He has also missed easy chances for us. But he has now had several seasons of scoring so people do not get on his back as much. Benteke is just starting in his career and so far this season, has 9 goals to his name.
-
J Jordan has been very complimentary about us. Much repect to the softly-spoken, toothless Scottie.
-
Ireland playing well
-
Is it ok to crack open a beer on a school night
-
Great. go elsewhere for the commentary. We'll win 55-0 at this rate.
The way Arsenal are playing, we'll certainly have plenty of chances as they cut away to their game.
-
Middlesborough 1-0 up
-
J Jordan has been very complimentary about us. Much repect to the softly-spoken, toothless Scottie.
Agreed - and I too like the way he keeps calling us 'the villa' - its like listening to one of us !!
-
corner villa. could have had a pen
-
Is it ok to crack open a beer on a school night
It's half term!
-
Why anyone would listen to a national station itching for an upset, as opposed to a local station with knowledge and coverage from our point of view is beyond me.
Unfortunately the local station is WM. If we win this they will still seem to twist it into some dig against the club.
-
Why anyone would listen to a national station itching for an upset, as opposed to a local station with knowledge and coverage from our point of view is beyond me.
BBC WM won't work on the ipad, but 5live is? Broadcasting rights maybe?
-
Middlesborough 1-0 up
MON is focusing on us or he is crap

No broadcasting rights On net ?

J Jordan has been very complimentary about us. Much repect to the softly-spoken, toothless Scottie.
Yes, he has. He is job-hunting and speaks Scottish. Translator? "Yes, Benty, the gaffer did actually say he thinks you are a *&$£!"
-
shows we are better without Delph and Albrighton
HT
-
We always lose when I listen to WM... I can't stand the patronising presenters either.
-
Because WM is shit?
-
All the Prem teams losing. Maybe, just maybe......
Reading aren't losing.
-
Middlesborough 1-0 up
MON is focusing on us or he is crap
He's got his best team out, so we can safely assume that he is, indeed, crap.
-

BBC WM won't work on the ipad, but 5live is? Broadcasting rights maybe?
I can never get local stations online for games.
-
Good stuff. Denied a penalty too, according to Jordan.
-
All the Prem teams losing. Maybe, just maybe......
Reading aren't losing.
Wigan aren't either are they?
-
Typical MON, lose to a lower league team in the cup.
-
Why anyone would listen to a national station itching for an upset, as opposed to a local station with knowledge and coverage from our point of view is beyond me.
BBC WM won't work on the ipad, but 5live is? Broadcasting rights maybe?
Local stations cannot broadcast football outside of a 30 mile radius (or whatever the transmitter power is) so they can't do online. DAB is normally ok though.
-
Robbie Savage is looking pissed off at the Pride of Britain Awards :)
-
All the Prem teams losing. Maybe, just maybe......
Reading aren't losing.
Wigan aren't either are they?
No. And we aren't either ;)
-
come on villa dont give nothing silly away now second half!!
-
Arsenal have pulled one back. Anyone punting some money on a come back?
-

Can you get a local station on DAB wherever you are?

If we are showing off the Pride of Britain, what is Robbie Savage doing within 100 miles of the place?
-
J Jordan has been very complimentary about us. Much repect to the softly-spoken, toothless Scottie.
Yes, he has. He is job-hunting and speaks Scottish. Translator? "Yes, Benty, the gaffer did actually say he thinks you are a *&$£!"
Ha, ha.
Second time tonight you've had the laugh on me, Paul.
-
Well what could possibly go wrong now?
-
Robbie Savage is looking pissed off at the Pride of Britain Awards :)
Hope somebody has a pair of shears and lops his hair off. The twat.

On my first DAB radio, I used to be able to get all the BBC local stations, but they might have tightened up now.
-
Because WM is shit?
Thats as maybe but there is no alternative providing a Villa angle.
-
Well what could possibly go wrong now?
Oh no
-
Robbie Savage is looking pissed off at the Pride of Britain Awards :)
Good. Media whore.
-
Just need another to make it safe. I'm still bricking it, though.
-
Well what could possibly go wrong now?
Thats fu..ed it then !
-
Because WM is shit?
Thats as maybe but there is no alternative providing a Villa angle.
Even if you could get WM, it wouldn't be from a Villa angle.
-
Because WM is shit?
Thats as maybe but there is no alternative providing a Villa angle.
Villa angle, from WM?
-
If you can get it the commentary on WM is pretty good tonight - can actually visualize the game in your head - as opposed to R5 which I started with but was more a discussion about other games
-
I wonder if we can have Gabby hypnotized so as he thinks every game is in the League Cup.
-
Robbie Savage is looking pissed off at the Pride of Britain Awards :)
Good. Media whore.
You're right, he is a good media whore.
The BBC's decision to keep him as an "expert summariser" is laughable and can only be for his 'shock' value.
-
Because WM is shit?
Thats as maybe but there is no alternative providing a Villa angle.
Villa angle, from WM?
Yep, not pro Villa but a Villa angle.
-
It's shite that so little of the League Cup is televised. Two of our better performances and we have to wait a day to see some 2 minute highlights.
-
The Villa angle from WM is simply Paul Franks loudly whining at us to "Call in Villa fans! Is this good enough? Can Lambert sort it out? Does he have the experience? Has Lerner lost interest? Does he need to get his hand in his pocket? Villa fans - lets hear from you!" (but only miserable whining tw@ts need apply because you needn't think we're letting anyone with anything positive to say get on air, and if one accidentally gets through, we'll just ensure they don't get a word in edgeways)
-

Thats the phone in, I'm talking about commentary.
-
Every photograph/television sighting of Robbie Savage leaves me wondering how much he spends on personal grooming products.
-
Did the Radio 5 tennis commentator really just say unprobable?
-
Stephen Froggatt the voice of reason on WM

No - last time i listened - that was the commentary. Honestly.

Every photograph/television sighting of Robbie Savage leaves me wondering how much I'd get for his scalp.

Every photograph/television sighting of Robbie Savage leaves me wondering how much he spends on personal grooming products.
Which for me, as an old bloke, says it all ("didn't need it in my day, etc").
-
I've switched to WM at HT. Could be a fatal move.
-
I wonder if we can have Gabby hypnotized so as he thinks every game is in the League Cup.
Hypnotized? He's not the brightest lad. You could probably just tell him its the League Cup. It would probably take a season or two before he started to realise that he's playing a lot of cup games.
-
Sounds like Stevens has done okay since coming on.
Presumably Lowton has moved to CB and Eric to RB?
-
Robbie Savage is looking pissed off at the Pride of Britain Awards :)
It's recorded from last night.
-
Pride of Britain = Robbie Savage
says all it needs to about the UK in 2012.

It's shite that so little of the League Cup is televised. Two of our better performances and we have to wait a day to see some 2 minute highlights.
However, all we need to do is concede 3 second half goals to get on first for 20 minutes... On 2nd thoughts.
-
Pride of Britain = Robbie Savage
says all it needs to about the UK in 2012.
Maybe he's only there so they can set fire to him as a finale or something?
-
All the Prem teams losing. Maybe, just maybe......
Reading aren't losing.
Wigan aren't either are they?
No. And we aren't either ;)
I meant other Prem teams. And I would rather Reading went through than Arsenal. A Bradford goal now would be perfect.
-
Didn't Gabby come out with the classic "yeah obviously delighted with the 3 points" a few seasons ago after a league cup win
-
Pride of Britain = Robbie Savage
says all it needs to about the UK in 2012.
Maybe he's only there so they can set fire to him as a finale or something?
That would be great.
Robbie Williams has actually become that fat dancer from Take That.
-
Andy Williams resurrected.
-
Every photograph/television sighting of Robbie Savage leaves me wondering how much he spends on personal grooming products.
The saying "You can't polish a turd" springs to mind.

Re: Savage
Am I the only one who watched him and Dion Dublin sitting next to one another on Saturday's Football Focus and was willing Dion to finish the job?
-
Re: Savage
Am I the only one who watched him and Dion Dublin sitting next to one another on Saturday's Football Focus and was willing Dion to finish the job?
No. But a proper job, not a nuzzle behind the bike sheds like last time.
-
I dunno - So now Savage is the 'Pride of Britain" and Gabby the 'Brain of Britain'.
-
Re: Savage
Am I the only one who watched him and Dion Dublin sitting next to one another on Saturday's Football Focus and was willing Dion to finish the job?
I doubt it.
-
Re: Savage
Am I the only one who watched him and Dion Dublin sitting next to one another on Saturday's Football Focus and was willing Dion to finish the job?
Possibly. I've always thought Dion was a complete twat that night and cost us any chance in that game.
-
Andy Williams is on. Can't Get Used To Losing To You?
-
Back to the match, seems HT has knocked us out of our stride.
-
I think this must be the first time the commentator has even seen an Italian. Or someone who gesticulates.
-
not heard Weimann mentioned much
-
Villa have started very poorly. Seems like a matter of time.
-
gone to sleep again usual second half ffs
-
we do well first half . we always do shit second half. Makes you wonder what PL says in the dressing room.
-
not heard Weimann mentioned much
Or the foot stomping from the first 4 pages of the thread when the team was announced.
-
J Jordan makes the point that we are not very good at clearing our lines: reminiscent of Saturday.
-
I think Connor McNamara is one of the better R5 commentators,
-
started poor by the sounds
-
not heard Weimann mentioned much
Involved in the build up to Ireland to cross for 1st goal and set gabby up for 2 md.
-
we do well first half . we always do shit second half. Makes you wonder what PL says in the dressing room.
MOTD showed a stat of what the league table would look like if games finished at HT. We were 5th IIRC.
-
Did anyone see that (silly) stat that if all prem games had finished at HT this season- we would be fifth.. Worrying.
-
not heard Weimann mentioned much
Involved in the build up to Ireland to cross for 1st goal and set gabby up for 2 md.
I wondered If he was still on.
-
Jesus, did we take off three players at half time?
-
I could be wrong, but I'm sure I read somewhere that we'd be fifth if all the games had finished at half time. Can someone confirm this?
-
we do well first half . we always do shit second half. Makes you wonder what PL says in the dressing room.

we need to swap managers at HT then
-
Did anyone see that (silly) stat that if all prem games had finished at HT this season- we would be fifth.. Worrying.
Doesn't say a lot for our substitutions then.
-
It suggests we have bugger all clue on how to close it out. A forward for a sitting midfield player would be a good start.
-
Dum de dum.
-
I could be wrong, but I'm sure I read somewhere that we'd be fifth if all the games had finished at half time. Can someone confirm this?
Yes it was on MOTD 2 they dud an alternative Premier league table
-
It suggests we have bugger all clue on how to close it out. A forward for a sitting midfield player would be a good start.
Which "sitting midfield player" would that be then?!
-
Bannan still trying the Hollywood pass...
-
In the haze of a drunken stupor, one of those talking heads on MOTD may or may not have said we'd be Sarah Jane Mee if all games finished at HT. Did I imagine it?
-
Anyone seen Savage on the BetVictor advert?

Is Albrighton on the bench?
-
Did anyone see that (silly) stat that if all prem games had finished at HT this season- we would be fifth.. Worrying.
Doesn't say a lot for our substitutions then.
Or maybe just a lack of quality and depth within the squad?
-
KEA suspended for sunderland according to WM. that could be a blessing
-
should have been a goal for swindon
-
Was it just me who saw that stat that said if games finished at half-time we would be fifth?
Shame Cup games don't count, or we'd be in the half-time Champions League places.

Was it just me who saw that if games finished at half-time we would be fifth?
Not just you on this page alone, Perc (if that's what KG meant by "Sarah Jane Mee" above).
-
Arsenal pulled one back.
-
come on Villa. kill these off.
-
Well, for a team lying fifth, we're a moaning bunch of fans.
-
Nigel Adkins will be available if Lambo leaves...
-
Well, for a team lying fifth, we're a moaning bunch of fans.
only after half time
-
Seems pretty comfortable again now.
-
I know paulie. It seems we're witnessing the birth of a new 'why didn't Barry take the penalty?'
-
Nigel Adkins will be available if Lambo leaves...
I get the impression the football media world just want Adkins to get the boot ASAP so 'Arry can get a nice convenient new job.
-
Sunderland do sound actually worse than us...
-
I've a horrible feeling Reading might throw this away against Arsenal.
-
so where are we in the second half table?
-
Nigel Adkins will be available if Lambo leaves...

Doubt the fans would forgive him, he took them down last time.

That seems obvious, but others tell me he has not recovered from abandoning Saints for Pompey.

Re: Savage
Am I the only one who watched him and Dion Dublin sitting next to one another on Saturday's Football Focus and was willing Dion to finish the job?
Possibly. I've always thought Dion was a complete twat that night and cost us any chance in that game.
And, sad to say, he's one of the few people that can make Savage seem like a decent broadcaster. He's awful on the radio.
-
I know paulie. It seems we're witnessing the birth of a new 'why didn't Barry take the penalty?'
Why didn't Andrew Greaves take Sarah Jane Mee from behind?
-
so where are we in the second half table?
Would that be the same as the combined first half and second half table?
-
Seems pretty comfortable again now.
inevitable that Di Canio will have got in the faces of his players during the break. We need to ride it out and then grab a 3rd to kill this off. As for what he might have said I'd be shocked if it was in a dialect of this planet.
-
'Arry's probably sitting in his drive in his Range Rover, radio on, making sure his automatic window is still working.
-
Sunderland do sound actually worse than us...
Please don't go there ...
-
so where are we in the second half table?
Probably where we are in the actual table.
-
so where are we in the second half table?
17th ;)
-
What we don't need is to concede........
-
so where are we in the second half table?
Would that be the same as the combined first half and second half table?
45 mins to 90 mins table ;)
probably conference league
-
so where are we in the second half table?
21st
-

17th ;)
See - moaning again
-
I know paulie. It seems we're witnessing the birth of a new 'why didn't Barry take the penalty?'
Why didn't Andrew Greaves take Sarah Jane Mee from behind?
Whatever happened to Andrew Greaves?
-
Need a third just to kill off that 'last two minutes' scramble you always get in these cup ties.
-
I know paulie. It seems we're witnessing the birth of a new 'why didn't Barry take the penalty?'
Why didn't Andrew Greaves take Sarah Jane Mee from behind?
Whatever happened to Andrew Greaves?
Whatever happened to gregnash and coopers injury?
-

Coopers Injury was banned yonks ago.
I believe he does his shtick on VT these days
-
Wigan v Bradford sounds like a cracker
-
Lambo leaving it late to bring on Bent pointlessly this time.
-
Wigan v Bradford sounds like a cracker
Currently a Bradford goal and Reading and Boro staying as they are wins me 400 quid from a 2 quid stake, so fucking come on, Bradford
-
... and tonight I was going to go and watch Harrogate Town play their FA Cup qualifying tie (replay) against Hyde. But it was postponed (for the second time) because of a waterlogged pitch.
Instead, the R5L and you wonderful lot have been more than a compensation.

Do Bradford have to win in 90?
-
Just noticed Leeds could be in the hat

Heard something on the radio yesterday about 'Arry confirming he's not interested in the Blackburn manager's job. No sh*t Sherlock. I don't mean this in a derogatory way, but he just comes across as way too cockernee for me to visualise him ever moving from the south east and his national media mates.
