It's non league day this weekend, just wondering if anybody is going to watch anybody?
I remember a few people doing it last year.

-
Thanks for the reminder.
-
Its in the non league thread in other football.
-
Yes. Some actor types at Stratford. Definitely "non-league"!
Am trying to think of funny lines to do with "plays", "star players", "roles", "programmes", "half-time intervals" and high "lines" but too depressed!
-
Bugger!
Just checked - Worcester City at home. Pints & scoff in The Dragon and a nice gentle ride home on the train!!! Heaven!!!
Still, I'm sure "the play" will be end to end at the RST!
-
Rushall Olympic for me.
-
Ellistown FC vs St Andrews FC in the East Midlands Counties League Premier Division has a certain ring about it.

Come on Ellistown! Used to live nearby and my boy now resides in Whitwick!

Non league football? What a strange idea. You can't have good bants watching it, and anyway, what's the point if you don't get to see Stevie G, JT, Wazza, Lamps etc?
-
Stour v Stefanmooresstneots is the place to be.
-
It's the Victoria Ground for me; Bromsgrove Sporting v Racing Club Warwick. It's only a fiver in (£2.50 concessions) and Sporting are playing some cracking football too.
I'm on the turnstiles this Saturday, so if you come along, say hello.

Did they ever fix the hole in the fence behind the seats stand? Not that I ever used to leg it down the vets car park and sneak in that way, no siree Bob.
-
;D
It's all secure now (as far as I'm aware). The stadium is in a much better state than it was left by the guys who ran Rovers into the ground.
The pitch is absolutely fantastic, the bar is great too and with an average gate of 250+. things are slowly coming together for them.
-
Moved into here for one day only in order to get maximum coverage.

Does Jamie Hatch still play in goal for them?
-
The goalkeeping duties have been shared by Reece Francis and Tom Savage this season.
The team has been completely rebuilt over the last season or so and are hopefully on the way back to better things having had to start in the MFC 2nd division a couple of years ago.
-
Highmoor Ibis vs Slimbridge is taking place over the road from me, literally. Looks like that's my game!
-
Stour v Stefanmooresstneots is the place to be.
I may well join you Dave
-
Why not make it a non-league weekend and come and watch my club on Sunday morning...Travellers F.C we are away at Cooksey Lane this coming Sunday......cup game!!!!!
-
Cradley Town v Dudley Sports is closest for me. Might go, if the missus wants to.

Where is Cooksey Lane (wonders if Dave Cooper will have been to this venue....)
-
Cooksey Lane is in Kingstanding Post Code for ground is B44 9QS.
Its an away game for us as we normally play at Northfield Town!!!

Didn't they have a pitch with a slope like the north face of Everest ? Seem to remember they did when i went for a pre season " Friendly" with Kiddy Harriers a few years ago.
-
I can't recommend non-league highly enough as an antidote to foul, money mad, moral free cesspit of the proffesional game at the top level.
I was going to Lye V Gornal but a late change of plan sees me hiding from our grumpy leader at Stourbridge.
-
Are the pies any good ?

Not that I remember. Admittedly my last Rovers game was the Barnsley FA Cup match in about '93.

IMO the best food at a football ground i have ever tasted was at Kiddy Harriers.
In the middle of winter you can get a fresh pasty and a large cup of the famous, and i mean famous Aggborough soup. Well, it's more like a stew than a soup and it really is good.
From what i remember they won the non league " Best food" award many times.
If you can't watch the Villa then take a trip to Kidderminster for a game. Not a bad side and the food is great.
-
Yes, the soup at Kidderminster is a bit special.
-
It is Legion. Also remember that the food at Lincoln City was a bit special when i went there, must be nearly 8 years ago now.
-
Kiddy fans have six fingers. And Kim Casey was shit. Bunch of inbred twunts.

They also have hairy feet and palms and infact the whole male population of Kidderminster has been given roles in the up and coming Hobbit movie.
The food is still good though. Hobbit food.
-
Martin Gavin was good in his day. I lived next door to him.
-
Martin Weir's testimonial was against us. They feckin beat us aswell ! 2-1 if my memory serves.

Not yet.

Kiddy Harriers sounds a must
-
They a a well run club. I went on a regular basis when Jan Molby got them into league football for the first time in their history, only because i could not afford to go away with Villa at the time.

Not so well run any more Dan. Very nearly bankrupt in fact.
Still, one of the easiest Tamworth away-days.

Bloody hell, that is a shock. Do you know if that tosser Baldwin is still on the board ? He nearly fucked up Hednesford town years ago by skimming away cash.

TurnstileSSS ??? You got more than one ??
What is the world coming to - Rotters is a jobsworth !!!
;D ;D
j/k mate
-
Two good boozers over the road from the ground aswell and more in the town centre.
I like Bromsgrove, had a few good nights out there when i was living in Kiddy.
-
Lye Town v Gornal for me... with a couple of ales in the Windsor Castle - love it.

Never liked that pub for some reason.

£12 today to go and watch Solihull Moors v Guiseley.
I'm tempted but that seems a bit steep to me, or is that par for the course at a non league level ?
-
Its a 3 o clock kick off for me Shepton Mallet Reserves v Burnham United , 1st Division Somerset County League. Come on the "Mighty Mallet"

Bit of a lie in for you, Bob. All those coach trips to our matches see you setting out at a very early hour.
-

They're away at Stockport today unfortunately otherwise I'd have gone. Ref your other post about prices - Harriers charge £14 standing or £17 for old farts like me who like the comfort of a seat these days.
-
Thanks CJ, not necessarily cheap then.

Its one extreme to the other, !! ha ha just a half mile walk to the ground, leaving the flat at 1430, got to beat the queue at the tea hut !! Love every minute of it. We (Somerset Lions) sponsored the match ball at the last International Break. You will never hear me moaning about fixture changes, Villa on Sundays means Mallet on Saturdays !!!!
-
Going with a couple of mates to watch Solihull Moors shortly.
I assume tickets on the door will be OK?
-
Not great at Amblecote. St Neots won, one nothing.
Two high scoring sides served up a dog of a match in front of over 700, the biggest crowd of the season so far. Even pantomime villain Stefan Moore didn't play due to injury.
Bah, non-league day my arse. When are Man Utd on the telly next?
-
Highmoor Ibis 2 Slimbridge 3
Dull first half followed by a second half with 5 goals, 3 penalties and a red card! Pick of the goals was Highmoor's second. Pity they conceded 2 goals late on to lose.
-
Bromsgrove Sporting 5 - 2 Sporting Club Warwick. Not that I was there, but I know a few Villans who went to the Vic today.

Racing Club surely?

Of course. Still can't get used to writing Sporting so I randomly added it to Warwick just to make sure.
-
Might go to Causeway v Stourport in the FA Vase tomorrow to make up for missing today.
-
Cracking win for Solihull today, 2-0 v high flying Guiseley.
-
Stour were crap today, and doubly disappointing with around 300 casuals there who won't exactly be rushing to return.
-
Castle Vale JKS 1-3 Littleton. An above average crowd of 34 watched a game of 2 teams playing on a dog of a pitch.

You make it sound as if there was a tear up.

Did they have wedge haircuts as well?
-
Wedge haircuts, Pierre Cardin jumpers and Farrah trousers.
