Title: Claret and blue t-shirt in Republic
Post by: Reuben on September 12, 2012, 06:36:33 AM
Saw this yesterday.  I vaguely recall a thread a while back about claret and blue Fred Perry tops so hope this is of interest.  Worth a mention due to the year perhaps?

I like that very much

In fact the reason why i like it is down to the fact that only a Villa fan would link the reference of colours and 1957 so it is subtle in the extreme

Almost like a masonic handshake - you could be out and about and just get a knowing glance from like minded intelligent folk where as sub humans like noses would think it was how you remembered your pin number  ;D

Like that, even more significance is that it is also my birth year, I wonder if they do a zip up version with leather elbow patches and a warm fleece lining.

Just bought one on line - £14.99 and £2.99 - although you can have it reserved in store

Why didn't the da bring one a dem back den den? That fits with about the first time I encountered the Villa and was fascinated by Dad's stories of derring do on return from my town of birth; and gaelic football went out the window.
Being 'english' I was expected to know all the rules as we played the 'foreign game' , disapproved of by the teachers, in the field behind the school.  Perfect well thought out shirt. Says it all, succintly..

Nice idea, but isn't it a bit embarrassing as well? Reminding the world that we haven't won the FA Cup for 55 years.

Saw this earlier and decided on a little retail therapy this lunchtime.  Can't tell you how much out of place I looked walking into Republic with a suit and tie on :-).

Anyway, to my eyes the blue and claret is a little lighter than shown above.  I maybe wrong though as the lighting was exceptionally bright in the shop.   But a very nice garment and will be worn for the first time on Saturday.

UTV !!!

On the contrary; Noses, being obsessed with Villa, would be more likely to understand the significance of the date than some Villa fans.

Of course we're just as obsessed with them as they are with us (snigger) so we'd all know the significance of a Nose wearing a Royal Blue version with a white "1995" on the front.

Their famous Double-Winning Season, of course!

If you go to www.soccerprint.co.uk they can do whatever year you would like to celebrate, and they do sizes that are probably better for the majority of us. Prices aboout £11.99.
I have no connection just have used them a few times for presents etc

Yes be careful lads.  I bought one the other day as mentioned, was only when I got home that I noticed two holes in the back of it.  Took it back today and got replacement and thoroughly checked, I think :-)

If you are going into the store in the Bull Ring, there aren't any on display but they have them in the stock room, so just ask an assistant.

Hope that helps

I'd rather not wear the same tshirt as dozens of others. Football shirts are one thing, but casual tshirts are another. It's a nice top, but I'd rather not.

Took mine back to the store at the Fort and had to have money back as they had none left - the store manager said that they could not beleive how well it had sold

I was tempted to keep it but the mark was right in the centre of the shirt and had an accompanying hole where i assume a store alarm was on it

Bugger

You can still get one via online store..but limited number of sizes. My 'Large' is a bit snug but there you go. They have XXL's left, allegedly, which are probably 'L' for the generous torso.
Mine is for the holiday anyway. I doubt It'll get to see the streets around Digbeth, ever.
