2-1 AET. At least we won't be fielding a team of 11 reserves for the League Cup this year, mainly because we don't have 11 reserves.

I think we will win this but it won't be one of those convincing victories. It will be one of those scrapping, few that was close, victories that asks more quiestions than it answers.

A home cup game against a league one side can never answer any questions, if we trounce them 5-0 nobody would bat an eye lid.

I've got a feeling that it's going to be one of those matches where the inferior side (that's Tranmere just so we're clear) come out with all guns blazing and nothing to lose. This will unsettle us (I don't think that will take much) to the point where it will go to penalties. Our inexperienced players will then blow it.

This is my view on the basis that when things are going wrong for a club they really  go wrong.

Last season after 2 games Villa were in 1st place, then went on to promptly be knocked out the league cup by Bolton and eventually finish 5th from bottom. Now after 2 games, we find ourselves in last place. From this I can only conclude that we're going to batter Tranmere on our way to winning the league cup and eventually finish 5th come the end of the season

My team would be:

------------------------Guzan-----------------------------
----Lowton------Vlaar-----Baker------Lihaj-----------
----------------Herd----------Delph----------------------
---------------------El Ahmedi----------------------------
Holman--------------------------------------Ireland-----
-----------------------Bent----------------------------------

My thinking would be that back four + goalkeeper would need 90 minutes ahead of Newcastle. Herd's combative game alongside Delph would allow El Ahmedi the chance to try and link up with Ireland and Holman a little more to support Bent. Bannan I don't feel is good enough and we need Delph's drive from midfield. Although Ireland looks like a left sided player on my team I would like to see him and Holman interchanging with El Ahmedi.

I'd also like to see Wiemann get a good 30 minutes as well.

PL has had pre-season with most of the squad and 2 Premier League games, so he needs to play what he thinks is his best starting XI. This needs to be a confidence boosting comfortable win...it will probably end up being 2-1 with us holding on in the last 5 minutes.

If we score early we'll be OK, but the longer it goes or if Tranmere score first prepare for another hesitant lack of confidence display.

Think we'll win however, by a few if we score early on or by one if we haven't got a lead at half time

Since beating the Dingles in January we have one once. Shocking. Now we approach the 19th game since then, half a season, with one solitary win.

Not sure why Nzogbia keeps getting a game - not sure what he does in training to justify it

Guzan - definately and i wish that PL has the balls to keep him in for Barcodes - but i doubt it

Lowton - if he cannot look good against this opposition then God help us

Vlaar - more games will do him good

Baker - chance to cement your place there son - make sure you take it

Lichaj - Really like this guy and disappointed he was not the 1st pick RB

Bannan - how the fuck he justufies his palce after Sat i do not know - Delph should have started

KEH - 1st name on team sheet and so it should be

Nzogbia - how the hell he justifies a game i dont know - would have preffered Holman

Glad Weinmann gets a game - his movement is very good (Are you listening Mr Bent?)
