I've always wondered about how we came to be called The Perry Barr Pets. The Perry Barr bit is obvious, but Pets?
Down the years I've asked loads of people but no one seems to know how the name came about.
Hopefully someone on here knows the answer.

Alliteration. Like Bluenose Bastards.

While we're asking questions, does anyone know why we wore stripes in the '57 Final?

I think it's because both teams were supposed to change, our away kit was too similar to theirs so we had a new design.

Interesting. Thanks for that as it's one that's puzzled me over the years.

It used to be a rule or custom of the FA cup that both teams should change in the event of a clash. As many teams had a white shirt second choice clubs often had to resort to something unusual.
Either that or the following year we played Burnley in a replay at home in shirts borrowed from Small Heath.
I don't know when the rule/custom was dropped.

Supporters' favourites I imagine, as in "Teacher's Pet".
