Leaving aside the team golds, there were 18 who picked up individually.
Choose your favourite 5, for whatever your reasons.
I found it really hard to pick my 5.
In no particular order......
Mo Farah. True legend plus distance running has always been my favourite to watch.
Bradley Wiggins Its Brad innit !
Nicola Adams Making history, great personality.
Jessica Ennis All rounder - The female Daly Thompson
Alistair Brownlee Triathlon - Phew these are tough guys !
Wanted to put Andy Murray in but this is so tough picking just 5.
-
Mo Farah. He is just brilliant to watch. A true legend.
There is so much talent in the Great Britain team and so many great performances it has been absolutely amazing. What an event it has been from the very start and all the way through. It does make you feel extremely proud.
I saw a interview with Alistair and Jonny Brownlee last night and I was gobsmacked to how young they actually are. When I watched their race I thought they were both young but seeing them in a studio I couldn't quite believe it. A Brilliant performance from them too.
-
Realised I've gone for same 5 as Andy Lochead with Nicola Adams just edging Pendleton.
-
For the person - Nicola Adams for the sheer joy on her face with victory.
A genuinely nice down to earth person, one of the good souls.
Fot the achievement - Mo Farah. Truly awe inspiring and never looked in any sort of difficulty in either race.
-
Nicola Adams instantly likeable. A little woman with a big personallity and a huge will to win.
Mo Farrah No words necessary!
Bradley Wiggins A winner!
Jessica Ennis When it mattered she delivered.
Laura Trott Far more attractive than Pendelton and humble too unlike fancy pants.
-
Jessica Ennis and then Mo Farrah followed by Bradley Wiggins for me.
-
Mo, Wiggo and Sir Chris as true olympic greats, massive achievements for all 3.
Trott and Kenny because they're going to be 2 key members of the team in Rio, they're both still very young for the events they're in and should come back stronger next time.
Hard to leave out Jess though, was a tough choice between her and Sir Chris for my last spot. Pendleton would've coasted it but 2 disqualifications have let her down badly when she should have been looking at 3 golds.
-
Ainslie a true master
Wiggo the season of a lifetime
Trott genuine talent and down to earth
Hoy see Ainslee
Farah took on the best Africans and won.
No Pendleton as she is mental and no ennius as I felt she didn't have tough cometition
-
Just seen the votes and Murray has more than ainslee. Sport is all about opinions but come on folks shake out of it.
-
Not an individual but my favourite was the girl in the pair's rowing who just threw her arms in the air and screamed "Oh my God we've just won The Olympics!"

She wasn't on the list but, as per the original thread around the time it happened - "we're going to be on a stamp!" - should be the strapline of the Team GB success, genuinely brilliant quote.
-
In no real order
Ben Ainslie - continuing the tradition of Drake, Raleigh, Nelson of Britannia ruling the waves
Brad Wiggins - I went down to time trial, and he's really cool
Victoria Pendleton - best in the world for year's and she's unbelievably hot
Mo Farah - he's absolutely incredible, and his answer to the question 'would you rather have competed for somalia?' was brilliant
Alistair Brownlee - I enjoy beating my brother at things too
My favourite Olympian got to be Katherine Grainger though, imagine how good that Gold must feel after three consecutive silvers
-
Mo's double was something special,on his last laps of both races I felt the intense pressure I usually feel watching Villa.
And David (insert surname) 800 metres was unreal,to virtually sprint for two laps has taken middle distance running to a new level, just like Bolt has done with the sprints.

There you go, him and Bolt are going to be famous for a very very long time, they're both well ahead of the curve in the their events. I'd put money on Bolt breaking 9.5 and Rushida breaking 1:40. For the record I think Bolt stands a chance of breaking 19 in the 200 as well (but that's less likely than the sub 9.5 100, which will happen within a year or 2).
-
Adams - wonderful smile and genuine pride in representing her country and securing her place in Olympic history.
Ainslee - snatched gold from the jaws of defeat. A true winner.
Ennis - no one had more pressure on them to deliver. Pretty as a picture and as hard as nails.
Farah - the next time someone questions multicultural Britain remember the pride taken in seeing a Somalian refugee wrapped in the Union flag. Twice.
Wiggins - 10 days from being on top of the podium in Paris to being on top of the podium in London. The sporting achievement of the year.
-
Special mentions though to Andy Murray for putting back the cause of Scottish independence a generation, for Kath Grainger for sheer perseverance and the woman's pursuit team for showing kids that childhood illness is no barrier to being the best in the world.
-
OK then, own up. Who voted for "Poncing around on a horse" as one of the top five golds ?
-
Luke Campbell, first gold medallist from Hull and a really nice lad.
-
GB - Mo Farah for showing unbelievable courage and commitment in both events. Thou shalt not pass.
Over the whole Olympics, David Rudisha's 800m was simply draw-dropping.
Low points - any former drug cheat who came away with a medal this time.
-
Not an individual but my favourite was the girl in the pair's rowing who just threw her arms in the air and screamed "Oh my God we've just won The Olympics!"
I was extremely fortunate to attend the rowing on that day and saw Kath Copeland and Sophie Hosking win. I also went the day before, so my personal medal haul is 3 golds, 1 silver and 2 bronze (including Robbie Grabarz in High Jump last Tuesday)
You won't be surprised to learn that I have never attended a regatta before now, but my daughter and I had the time of our lives at Eton. We really enjoyed the mens four on Saturday winning, as they beat the Australians and kept that particular gold medal in British hands for the 4th Olympics on the bounce.
I love the brutality and power of the sport and how every single rower leaves everything they have on the water, there is none of this "well I didn't feel right today and not sure what happened" every rower from every country gave the maximum.
On that note the personal highlight of the events I saw was actually Alan Campbell's bronze in the Single scull. I can testify that the "Eton Roar" is indeed that loud and can categorically state that Campbell would not have got that medal anywhere but at a home games. The bloke had nothing left to give when he passed me about 150 metres from the finish, the crowd lifted him though and he somehow squeezed in for bronze. The TV pictures afterwards showed him unable to get up, such had been his effort. Ditto Mark Hunter the next day.
I am gutted that it is all over and will probably be something I never experience again. However, as I said at the top, my good fortune in attending the games is not lost on me.

glad you had a great time, like you say probably never happen again in our lifetimes.
my Mum was saying the other day that she wished she coud go and see the Olympic park, wasnt bothered about what she saw, anyway i sugested the Paralympics
Mum and Dad are both in there 70's now and got tickets for the stadium for £5 and the train fair from M Keynes is £9 return, so £14 for a day out at the Olympic park is good value, obviously this would be pesioners rates, but even so
-
I'm taking the boys to see the athletics at the Paralympics for £5 each.
-
Laura Trott
a) because I'm in love ( I can't help but smile whenever she does).
b) because of that picture of a 12-year old scrawny kid (prematurely born with a collapsed lung, asthmatic) with Wiggins' Gold Medal around her neck and the way insipration can take you. This is what it's about for me.

I went for:
Mo Farah - If there was a better image of the fabulousness of what a gold medal means than Mo crossing the line, I didn't see it.
Sir Chris Hoy - The man is everything an elite athlete should be
Laura Trott - Not just for looks, but to see an athlete at the start of what could be an incredible career is brilliant. Her personality is a winner too
Andy Murray - I firmly believe this will see Murray win a major title soon, and forget all that gumf about Federer not being bothered, he could have chucked in the towel against Del Potro but played a zillion games to reach that final.
Peter Wilson - Hasn't got the glamour of the other events, but the man was as still as a lamppost all through that competition and when he won he collapsed to the ground like the only thing holding him up was the desire to win a medal for his country. His reaction when his dad found him afterwards was pretty heart-warming too
But that's a difficult pick, 'cos they all meant something to me. It was a wrench to leave out Sir Wiggo, lovely Queen Vicky and Dame Jess!
-
There was a bit in the individual event Victoria Pendleton won the gold in, where with 2 laps to go, she was near the back of the pack, then suddenly puts her foot down and just sails past the entire field into the lead.
Gobsmacking.
-
Go Mo

Gobsmacking.
In the Omnium event, especially the elimination race, there were several laps where Laura looked like she was in danger of getting trapped at the back and being eliminated, and suddenly she would find a non existent gap and be somewhere at the front again as they crossed the line.
-
Every single one of them deserves a err medal for uniting the country like I have never experienced in my life. I no longer feel slightly ashamed of being british.
I think the guy that personifies this the most is Mo. His brilliance must make it that much harder for the Express/Star/Mail to write their poisonous rubbish.
-
Managed to get into stadium for the Golden hour - at the back of the athletes seating.
Jess - MO - Greg 3 Golds an hour.
Was under the stand for MO's 2nd Gold but got out to sing the Anthem at his medal ceremony.
Only 6 medals in T&F but it is the one sport that all the world takes part in - so to win against all the world is really special. And 80,000 crowds for every session.
-
Laura Trott is absolutely lovely isn't she? All smiles and genuine humility.
In fact, she's so nice, I don't think my main feeling towards her is the predictable one of shallow sexual attraction.
I think I actually want to be her Dad - take her to races, make sure she's ok, stop her hanging around with boys who may become a bad influence etc etc.
-
Another impressive thing was the women's team pursuiters breaking the world record in six consecutive races
-
Brad
Mo
Jess
Brad gets it 'cos he's Mr Cool. Mo narrowly misses out due to having a scary smile when he finishes a race.
-
Nice to see Mo and Brad topping the list, I reckon the 2 of them are going to have to a scrap in the carpark for sports personality of the year, both have achieved something spectacular for the first time for a UK sportsman and neither has had the award before (which discounts Sir Chris). It is a bad luck omment for Ben Ainslie and Jess Ennis though as both would have a great shout normally but Mo and Wiggo have had a spectacular year.
Trott will win Young SPOTY at a... trot.

Mo was on a mission and Jess is a delightful but for me Rutherford is the man. Succeeded where he had no right to do so.

Mo will be racing the 2 miles race in the next 10 minutes or so on BBC2 for anyone interested.
Grabarz won the high jump and Rutherford was 3rd in the long jump.
-
No record as no pace makers. But in the last 200m he just sprinted off and no one in the field got close.
He wife gave birth to twins the other day as well. He will have the names inscribed on the golds.
-
Just been to the Athletics down the Road.
Great day.
Special mention for this foxy Cuban pole vaulter who got Silver in London.
Probably the fittest body i've ever seen.
