F*ck me...?!
(Sorry...not sure how to do short links)
-
He's getting more & more nearer to Yoda.
-
I have criticised him a lot but fair dues to him.
He is still very young and is probably learning all the time. In a few years he could be one of the best. He's only 33 now! By the time he's 40 he'll have a wealth of experience under his belt and (hopefully) will have learned from past errors.
-
To be honest I was pretty shocked thatbevwas only 33...! Maybe the Lambert signing is a corner turned...we can but hope!
-
It's the FA. Enough said.
-
I'm not quite sure why the "f**k me" comment.
Do we have to criticise absolutely everything positive that comes out of the club ?
-
Well done Paul.

Well said Andy. On the grand scale of things it's not a big deal but it provides another platform for some to slag him or the club off yet again. It's really a non story, or if it is, then well done to him. I hope he presents himself and the club positively.
-
Surely this can only be a good thing for the club. To do this at such a young age, fair play to him.
-
The FA Council can be best described as a conjuration of imbeciles!
-
This might not be the popular view but at least he had the bollocks to stand up to O'Neill and tell him the finances were out of control. Play them or sell them. O'Neill told him where to shove it and walked out. It has taken PF a couple of years to get up to speed on running a football club but I think the guy deserves some credit for learning quickly and bringing in a couple of very good deals. The Genting and Macron deals are great deals. He might have helped to pick a couple of dummies as managers in the last couple of years but that blip now seems to have been rectified. Good luck to him, it also gives Villa some publicity. It's about time the F.A. had someone young on their books.

Totally agree.

I agree.

Hell of a blip Newby. A week is obviously a long time in football.

I wouldn't disagree Pete, but Randy is also to blame for the managers selected. I hope they have both learned from the last two years as Villa have been in a coma. Hopefully Lambert is the man to move the club forward again. It's about time the old farts on the Football Association recognised that there is room for modern thinking.
-
Better to have someone in the FA hierarchy than not,
-
Personally I'd rather he concentrated on sorting out the continuing mess at Villa, of which the appointment of Lambert is but the first step.

you don't think he's doing that? It is possible to do other things to better yourself and the position of your club and continue to do your current job effectively.
-
I have no idea what the FA council does, but it can only do the club good to have a board member on it. I imagine David Dein has done Arsenal no end of favours over the years.
-
I have no idea what the FA council does
Given the total shambles that is the FA and the national team, not very much, I'd guess.
-
I read that the council has 92 representatives so nothing to get too enthused by.

Two minutes in..

Well they do have to represent the affairs from the lowest to the highest level, it isn't all just about the pro game.
Maybe the FA President "invited" him on board so he can have a chat about his team when there is meetings.

I wasn't criticising anything coming out of the club?! "F*ck me" was just genuine surprise bearing in mind the general consensus of his track record so far. As per my next comment, I hope the securing of Lambert is a corner turned, bearing in mind he is only young.
100% agree with Dave that's is better having someone in than not.
-
Surely Dave Whelan is on this already ?
-
Dave Whelan runs it and he wanted some representation from some smaller clubs, like Villa ;D

I know it's going off topic but I was pleased to read soemwhere this morning that the Liverpool CEO Mr Ayre has slated Whelan for the sideshow remarks about Martinez when he was being interviewed by the 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' hierarchy for the managers job.
