Why can Chelsea have something on the back of their shirts?
Wasn't we told we couldn't.
-
Uefa, or Fifa or whoever said they could as it was a charity. We can't as it is a Premier League rule

The Premier League are a bit thick.

Wouldn't disagree

I thought it was an FA rule?
-
Well, the FA are bit thick too!
-
It should be changed. A charity on the back of shirts would be excellent given the amount of exposure the premier league gets.

Can't be an fa rule as championship teams have sponsors on back of their shirts

I thought this thread was going to be about a cure for snoring.

I don't want to see anything on the back of our shirts other than the number and player's name. First a charity's name then given time the whole shirt would be plastered in tacky adverts.

Championship is run by the Football League.
Premier League is run by the FA.

The Premier League runs the Premier League. The Football League runs the Football League. The FA sanctions all competitive games at national level, regardless of the league.
I've just checked the FA rules on advertising on shirts and it does allow sponsorship on the back of shirts so it must be a Premier League rules that prevents us from doing it.

You mean what was formerly the FA Premier League? Isn't the Premier League an off-shoot of the FA?

Nope. The only authority the FA has over the Premier League is its ability to veto Chairmen and Chief Execs. Other than that the Premier League is a separate entity. That was the whole point of it - to take power away from the FA and Football League and move it to the clubs. The Premier League is 'owned' by the clubs who have one share each. Each share gives them a vote on decisions. The FA take no part in that.
-
Fair enough.
So who runs the Championship?
-
Fair enough.
So who runs the Championship?
It's part of the Football League.
