Hong Kong, 20 May 2012 - A brilliant solo goal from midfielder Danny Johnson gave Aston Villa a 1-0 victory over Rangers in the Cup semi-finals of the HKFC Citibank International Soccer Sevens today (Sunday, 20 December).
With the match goalless and extra time beckoning, Johnson picked up the ball just inside the opposition half, dribbled into the penalty area and drilled home a low shot to settle a tense encounter.
Villa, seeking to win the Soccer Sevens for a record sixth time, will face Newcastle United in the final after they edged out arch-rivals Sunderland 1-0.
The Magpies, making their Soccer Sevens debut, dominated possession but had to wait until two minutes from the end to break the deadlock when livewire striker Adam Campbell finished off a superb passing move.

Johnson is very good IMO.
-
Johnson is a fine player. I'm suprsied he didnt get more of an opportunity under McLeish last season but there you go.
For what it's worth, this Villa HK7s team wasn't anythng like as strong a team as we could have put out.
