Losing Reo-Choker, Makoun, Jenas and Petrov over the past 12 months...maybe even Delph a bit, has bitten us hard. Clark has the ability to match up to Spurs' midfield, I hope he shows it.

Under the cirumstances it's the best team we could put out unless playing Weimann up front instead of our Ivanhoe.
The issue for me is not the selection, it's the instructions they get from McL and his sidekick.

I can't see how we are going to score a goal with that team, especially the way we are likely to be set up, and getting a 0-0 against spuds is always going to be difficult.

I have the feeling it's going to be a long afternoon.

1 thing I've noticed about us this year is we never win the 2nd ball from corners (defending or attacking), we just never seem to have anyone at the edge of the box, that's got to be a tactical thing.

If we showed this much ambition and commitment earlier this season as we have today we wouldn't be in this position. We lack real quality and between selling players and injuries it hasn't helped

Tottenham bossing it at the moment.

Their first 30 seconds where they've managed to keep the ball, apart from that we've been on top, always first to the ball, 110% effort.

Keep calm, Stu.

It's not the one up front, it's who the one up front is, the depth of the midfield and the wide players playing as secondary full-backs.

One of our biggest issues is that on the break we have to be the slowest team in the league. It guarantees making attacking infinitely more difficult

This is just terrible. Their goal is inevitable, and our only forward has done nothing but fall over and give away the ball.

The defence has been fantastic, but it's just all backs to the wall for the next hour. At home.

Against Spurs don't forget. Playing one up front is costing us though, everyone is having to pile up in support, leaving space at the back.

This is the point where his lack of ability as a manager has shone through all season, we're in the lead, probably slightly against the run of play, but have looked decent, in virtually every other match where this has been the case at half time we've come out and sat 9-0-1 and tried to hang on, ending up getting stuffed.

Delfouneso not instinctive enough for me.

He's not anything enough.

He's not very quick, he's not very strong and can't hold the ball up, his finishing is, well, he's scored 3 club goals (including for Burnley and Leicester) in 4 years.

He shouldn't be a Villa player anymore.
I agree - I was just being kind on the youngster.

He's not really had a chance as such though, has he? I can't remember him having a game  for a long time.
He's had enough chances to shine, on a number of different stages.

Why do you think that is? Villa haven't really been hesistant to play younger unproven players over the last couple of seasons, yet even Weiman gets played ahead of Delfouneso.

I think the run of 11 games with only one goal for Burnley pretty much ensured he'll end up on the scrapheap of promising youngsters who never made the step up.
