A nervy 1-2 win, us holding out in the end. They will discover that they have to battle get and keep a lead. But injuries are taking their toll on us, I don't know whether McLeish is a very unlucky manager or if the training methods are causing the injuries, but if it keeps going like it is the well will run dry.
Any word on why Stephen Ireland was not playing last night?
1-1 us to score first obviously. That should settle the nerves - god we're awful.Yes us scoring first really settled the nerves last night
After Bolton tore our defence apart in the second half how can anyone think we can hold out the Baggies.
Mcleish has a dreadful record against the Boggies lost both games 3-1 last seasonHe's never beaten them, gotta change some day!
I must say that the word `Shitbion' is a work of genius.Sometimes something simple and crude works out ;D
Mcleish has a dreadful record
Do we have to have one of these threads? It would appear so,unfortunately. It's a sad time for us at the moment to be in this situation but it's where we are so we may as well talk about it and get things of our chest. No nails in our coffin from these tossers, fuck it,it cannot happen, can it?2-1 Villa.
We always have a pre-match thread. And we always will.
We always have a pre-match thread.
Can't decide who to stick money on getting the winner - Ridgewell or Shorey?
Shorey would be more likely if playing.
2-0 Villa. Heskey and Herd. I think that albion will be over confident which will work in our favour.
Lets's look at this realistically, shall we ? No-one can predict the score. (How many predicted a win last night ?)
What we CAN do , is compare Player's CONFIDENCE & Manager's Tactical Strategy & Motivational Abilites.
Consequently - I am VERY worried.
The atmosphere of a derby will motivate where AM can't and we win 2-1. Heskey to get both of ours
Indeed, that's quite a mix ofLets's look at this realistically, shall we ? No-one can predict the score. (How many predicted a win last night ?)Doctor, my eyes.

We need Ireland back , I would drop Marc to bench . Warnock did alright to be honest , could have had 2 goals . so would be looking for Herd , Warnock and Ireland in the middle . Nzogbiz please on the wing , where he looked good , not the middle .
not sure up front , maybe Heskey and Agbonlahor and Weimann to come on for 25 mins for Heskey.
I think Weimann looks a great player .
My heart says 1-1 . My head 2-1 albion.
I prescribe more Milk and Alcohol.Lets's look at this realistically, shall we ? No-one can predict the score. (How many predicted a win last night ?)

.
Is this a sell out ?Is from our end, they have tickets remaining in 3 stands. Smellwick ends sold out
We always have a pre-match thread. And we always will.
Isn't that a strange thing?We always have a pre-match thread.And we always will.
Always before a game too.
Yeah we're shit, but should still turn this rabble over. We've got no choice after last night. 1-0 away win.
we are the real rabble.Yeah we're shit, but should still turn this rabble over. We've got no choice after last night. 1-0 away win.
We were meamt to turn the rabble over yesterday as well and we all know what happened there
Does Ridgewell play for themI believe so
WBA win 2-0 Odemwingie and Ridgwell from a cornerAs I am a Villa fan I'm naive and romantic, therefore, I'd put Carruthers and Gardner in and tell them to go out and enjoy it, and win the game and come home borne on the shoulders of your team-mates!
No idea who we have fit but time to take some of the kids out of the firing line now and let these £2 million a year players get us out of this unholy mess
Given, Hutton, Dunne, Cuellar, Lichaj, Warnock, Herd, Ireland, N'Zogbia, Agbonlahor and Heskey if all available with Weimann, Albrighton, Gardner and co as options on the bench
Confidence of the team has gone. Despite the owner's and CEO support McLeish must be dreading walking out onto the pitch. Moreover he has no plan or wherewithall (indeed never has had!) to get the team to perform and break the downward spiral we are in.I honestly believe he should've walked out in shame by now.
Going for a 2-1 loss I'm afraid.
Injuries permitting I'd go with :-
Given
cuellar, collins,baker,lichaj
herd, warnock
ireland
agbonlahor heskey nzogbia
weimann, clark, carruthers, hutton, guzan, gardner, albrighton
A reasonably strong team on paper. I thought on Tuesday the younger lads felt the pressure a bit after we went behind. On the plus side Warnock looks a far better midfielder than he is a fulback and Emile continues to look effective.
Albion are adept at keeping possession in midfield but are a bit suspy at the back. Their away record is better than their home record - where they have only scored as many as we have and have lost more.
We need to compete in central midfield and have a go at them down the flanks. We just need to keep our nerve, we can take them.
1-0 to Villa (Emile, 65 mins)
I fucking forgot Ridgewell plays for them now, nailed on to score from a set piece. In his own net, just like old times ;)
0-0 win - McLeish hangs on, balls!
Does Ridgewell play for themI believe so
I would go with
Given
Cuellar Collins Dunne Lichaz
Warnock Herd
Ireland
Gabby Heskey NZogbia
Gives us eperience and youth on the pitch, but I think for a one off, we need the big boys in. Final score - 1-1
I know that we've pilloried AML for being negative previously but now because of that negativity we've actually played our way into a situation where we may genuinely be needing to keep it tight and not go all out. Fucking crazy that it's come to this.
I don't fancy this. Roy's done a cwacking job with them
The Baggies are loving it... (http://westbrom.com/forum/index.php?topic=66.1175)
When was the last time they did the double over us?
Not an ounce of sympathy from me, for any of them. I've waited years for this opportunity. Finally, we're the top dogs, now it's our time to take the p!ss and watch these lot suffer.Top dogs? Fuck off. Finishing higher in the league for the first time in their lifetime makes them top dogs? Even if we go down, its undisputable.
We'll 'ommer um.
5-1 to Villa.

They have spent less money and have a better team, not a great team but a bit better thn our team, if they are proud of having a slightly less shitty team than us it tells you all you need to know about them.
Beating The Villa is hardly a sign of greatness, 2 0 to them
I pray we bury them. They haven't half got delusions of grandeur on account of finishing ahead of us. Silly c***s.It just shows that no matter how shit we are we'll always be the daddy and the other Midland clubs 'success' will always be measured against us.
Given - Hutton, Collins, Dunne, Lichaj - Ireland, Herd, Warnock, N'Zogbia - Heskey, Agbonlahor
Guzan, Cuellar, Baker, Gardner, Bannan, Weimann, Albrighton
Time for the experienced heads to pull their finger out.
I would take a draw every day of the week.
I want to say we'll win, because football's weird like that. But I just can't see it at all with our form, confidence, injuries......manager.Nzog knows all about relegation battles,he performed brilliantly for Wigan towards the end of the season.
Hope Ireland is back. Maybe him and Nzog can provide a few minutes of quality that will count (4 times would be handy)

Cheers Lawro, you unimaginative bellend. I'm feeling more hopeful now.
Lawro - tool! Only two or three weeks ago he was saying we wouldn't go down, now it's "as soon as we lost Bent you knew we were in trouble!"
I'm not sure I relish the prospect of a not up to match speed Dunne coming straight back into the side in our current predicamanet!
I see Dunne says he is not going to be a million percent fit. I would take a tenthousandth of that.
"if i see any Vile in town I'm gunna smash them"
"were the pride of the midlands"
"3 0 to the baggies"
"final nail in the coffin"
Fuck me they don't have talk some shit
"if i see any Vile in town I'm gunna smash them"They dont get why we call ourselves the Pride of the Midlands, do they? Too subtle for them.

They'll have this season where they finish above us.We said that the last time, in 1974 ;-)
It wont last.
Dunne, Agbonlahor, Heskey and Collins fit for derby at Baggies, Ireland is a doubt says McLeish

probably the only player we need is Ireland out of those lot. But Collins will be a bonus at least.
I think playing Dunne will be a big mistake, I'm certain McLeish will do it though.
No way will he be up to speed.
fuck me, Dunne hasnt scored an own goal this season either.

I'm sure he did, QPR away wasn't it?

Before pretty much every game this season I've convinced myself that this will be the game when our form turns and I see no reason to stop that dellusional notion now - 2-1 Villa, Gabby to get the winner in the last five minutes.
Baker, as well as he's done needs a break. This shit has hit the fan and we need the seniors back, let's not forget that until the spate of injuries we were not in the battle. Agreed we were shit but our heads were always above water. Since the youngsters have come in we've struggled, I'm not blaming them but we're not going to stay up with them in. Weimann works hard but doesn't look like he's got too many goals in him and Baker has been caught out a bit at times. I think Lichaj has been the pick of the bunch. They've done well but the pressure is too much for them at this time and if the crowd turn, like they did in the week, it's not going to help them/us at all. Put the big boys back in and let's get this done!

Yes, Matt. Call it blind faith if you will, but that really is why we keep coming back isn't it?
Just a hunch but I don't think Dave cares too much for the Stripey Filth.
...................................GIVEN.....................................
LICHAJ...........DUNNE............CUELLAR........WARNOCK

It's still a shit side. I wish Ireland and Collins were fit, they'd be straight in if they were. Centre of midfield concerns me a lot, desperate for a better player in there. Bannan, Fonz, Wiemann, Hutton, Albrighton, Guzan on the bench.
I'd sign Kevin Muscat on a one-match loan. And possible Dereck Chisora.
I would keep Marc as far away from this game as possible. I try to be positive with the young(er) guys but he's been very underwhelming of late. He couldn't kick a beach ball into the ocean let alone serve a decent ball into the box. He's lost his ability to beat his man and he's never been a defender.
I'd give this one to Carruthers.
I've got to the stage already that I'm terrified of looking at the result.

What price Terry Hurlock and/or Pat Van Den Hauwe?

No pace up front may be our undoing
That's impressive Dave.
I know the Wanker that was involved in the Everton Fan losing his eye. He got caught at the Uplands row too, all though was a very peripheral figure. Lot of bluster and no substance sums the situation.
I live in an Albion area by and large and they are just unbearable at the min. Us losing tomorrow and I may have to emigrate
A win would be fantastic and stop me being a grumpy twat again for the next few days.
Watch this space matey. The wrong result and i will be on a real bloody rant!A win would be fantastic and stop me being a grumpy twat again for the next few days.
Too true my friend though I rather enjoy your mega long post-match rants!
Everything crossed for today, one can barely contemplate how a win would lift the mood of all of us. Wouldn't it be wonderful...great positive post richard!
I believe, with a religious zeal, that we will smash these Mickey Mouse twats into next week.
Their misplaved arrogance will be cleansed and they will leave their little rat hole of a stadium knowing that the Villa will be back next year and that this game is a taster for our dominance which will last anothrr thousand years.
Insignificant wankers.
There was some Stripey prick on Hawksbee & Jacobs show on Talksport yesterday doing the predictions.
He said something like "Cor see Villa scorin, 3-0 to Albion". And it wasn't bravado, he genuinely believed it, the deluded prick.
I dreamt we won 4-0 , was really gutted when I got woke up by my lad but I also dreamt I was in ultravox , so odd.

That means nothing to me.

Pedant alert: where the brass bands play fuck off West Brom.
And it's 'be beside the seaside'.
