Attacking line up then, which is good. Lets hope it pays off and the side are out there to get a couple of goals, not go 1 up and sit on the egg.

Ireland has impressed me with the amount of "dirty work" he has been getting through in the last few weeks, so I am hoping he is going to play a bit deeper, in a role where he can maybe have more influence on the game.

not many we could put in midfield , unless you bring Gardner in and drop albrighton

I really like the look of that side. Strong at the back, a bit of flair and bite in midfield and Gabby and Weimann to cause problems up front.

With the players we have we should have many more points on the board.

McLeish is going for it because we have to win this, that's been obvious all week, so circumstances bring him kicking and screaming into making the decision to attack.

Lets hope  we can do this.

Originally said 1-1, now going for an all out Villa win, full on.

C'mon you Villa boys.................................please.

Lichaj, I presume with Cuellar at RBI.
Massive irony if he plays Cuellar at RB; the very thing that MON used to do.
More likely to play Baker at LB, I wonder?

He might of course play three at the back (Collins in the centre) and push Lichaj up ... no, perhaps not.

Not a bad performance at all, so far. The two teams look pretty evenly matched to me, too.

N'Zogbia is easily one of the most frustrating players to watch, though! He gtes himself into some fine positions then tends to make the wrong decision time and again!

Typical that in one of our better performances for a while, Ireland doesn't seem to be quite at the races. If he can get in the game more, we should do well.

The whole back 4 do, been saying it for weeks. No one looks to Dunne to lead them and gets on with their own job.

Decent half with good intent to play football I think. I can't complain at that. We have been a bit toothless but at least we're in the mix. I hope we don't shut it down in the second half and keep playing.

Other than that, Lichaj looks a bit like the chap who used to play Felix Liter to me. And Cuellar a bit like Carew from a distance!

Gabby has been outstanding, loads of work, loads of effort if he got more service into the box such as the Wiemann chance just now, that's the kind of thing we need to convert on

All in all, we aren't down, Sunderland look like they've already gone on holiday so we should be able to take that on board and win this.

I want to see us play with width. Play N'Zogbia down the left, Albrighton down the right and try and make the pitch big. We're too narrow as Mark and Charlie keep coming inside into the bodies of players.

Our control, passing and movement is woeful

We don't look like scoring. We look like we are playing better than previous games, but that's because we have been playing rubbish.

If we don't get a lucky goal, I think we will lose by a single goal, as if they score, MON will tell them to park the bus and we won't have the guile to break them down

Started quite brightly but have faded. It's been a poor game, with little quality. Gardner probably been the pick of the midfielders and they've had the best chance so pretty happy to be level at the break.

Hope Gabby's shoulder is better than it looked, thought in the earlier stages it's the first time he's looked properly fit since he's been back from his last time out.
