Living in Seattle, I'm up for helping out any Villans traveling to the NW for the first time. I'm three hours away, but I'll be down in Portland as soon as I get back from the Chicago game and am willing to help out.
Also, for any Chicagoland Villans - I know it's early days but is anyone interested in setting up things to do and places to meet up, especially pre- and post-match?
I'm definitely flying in to see the boys...Chicago and the Villa - two of my favorite things in the world!!!
I hope to see some H&V in the states this summer.
-C.
-
Portland here I come!!!
I'm sure our supporters club here in Vancouver will put a coach on for this. Sweet!!
-
I will probably go up to the Portland game.
-
Absolutely ecstatic they chose Philadelphia, I'm there in a heartbeat
-
Pie eating champion ChicagoVilla is going to be a happy chap. He was seen eating a large quantity of of hot dogs at a Chicago Fire game the other day.
-
If they'd have announced this earlier I'd have tried to work my 2012 Stateside trips around at least one of these games. However, I'm already committed to going over in June and August.
-
A little more tricky than in past years for me because of my two new arrivals, but I will do everything I can to get to Chicago and Philly.
-
Villa CEO Paul Faulkner added: "There will be real value in the tour for Alex
Disappointed!
-
I will fly over for the match in Chicago. Any excuse would do to get back to that great city.
However this means that we are not going to enter Europa League through any back door method...such as being very fair to oppositions by not scoring from corners all season!
-
I will arrange to be in Chicago and hopefully NJ around the time of the Philly game.
Post match pizzas in Ginos East.
-
I guess Portland is getting closer to me than on the last US tour, but why not come to the bay area? Most of SF had to close when Real Madrid played here 2-3 years back, and Chelski sold out the new stadium at Stanford on their tour so the demand is definitely here...maybe next time around....?
-
Hopefully Luke Moore rips all the North Americans apart again.

Last time we played there we came back with Stan Collymore. Best not to take the risk.

I have been away from these pages for quite some time, but kept in touch with a number of the posters, mainly through Facebook. After a spell in Orlando and Houston, I returned to Chicago in December 2011 and could not be happier with this news. I hope Mac and Dave do not mind me posting this, but I have set up an event page on Facebook to try and collect as many ideas as possible to make this as memorable as the visit to Columbus in 2007. Great to see my old mucker TV still posting here. Maybe we can do a repeat of the fans game. I have already reached out to people at the Fire to see if they are interested.
If you are on Facebook, please sign up to the event at http://www.facebook.com/events/359316637445257/ and spread the word.
Again. if I am violating any rules by posting this, please forgive me.
UTV and here's to July 21st!!!
-
chicago is a dead cert, hopefully can work the philly game in too
-
I am pretty excited for the Philly game. Would have loved a NYC game, but I can't complain about the extra 110 miles to get to Chester PA.
I have always wanted to go to Portland, and my wife really wants to go too.
I wonder if I could somehow work our first Portland trip into the mix and pretend that it's just a coincidence that Villa happens to be playing while we are there...
-
Lots of fans stayed at the same hotel as the team in columbus, (the doubletree I think) anyone got any good ideas for hotels where we can all meet up/ or tips on which hotel(s) the team are using ? Chicago and Villa games in particular
-
I live about 7 miles from the heart of downtown Chicago, still in the city limits, on the north side. The stadium is South West (about 30 minutes drive from my home, and probably 20 minutes from downtown. The stadium is pretty new, holds 20,000 people and details can be found here...
http://www.chicago-fire.com/toyotapark
They may well lay on some buses from downtown bars (they do this for home games). I will see if I can find anything out from the club and post it hereor on the facebook page I linked earlier. Thry are already asking me if I can get a group together to take advantage of discounted tickets.
-
One other thing, although public transport is pretty good here, it is a train and bus ride and an hour travel time if you are not driving. Google maps give good public transport directions.
-
I will definitely make Philly and will do my best to get to Chicago as well. Looking forward to it already!!

When I went to a Chicago Fire game there were free buses to the stadium from the end of the Orange "L" at Midway. A real easy trip if you're staying in The Loop

Pity there's no way of doing a Villa game in Chicago when the NFL season is going, as I want to see the Chicago Bears play.
-
I see that season ticket holders who renew before 31st May get entered in a prize draw to win a trip there.
Theres probably only going to be a few in that draw.
-
This is great news for the Yank Villains amongst us, i hope they enjoy it. I also hope the club arrange a freindly on the continent a bit closer to home.

Just head to Chicago in September for a NFl/MLB combo trip and sod the Villa for a week

Have heard we should be playing Shamrock Rovers as part of Enda Stevens deal. However, if you look at the date of these friendlies we're setting up, and with Shamrock being in Champions League 2nd Qualifying, I'm not quite sure how it would fit in.

Chicago Fire have 78,000 fans on FIFA 12 which is way more than any other MLS club.
Any particular reason for this?

Is there any need for that? They are a fan base that we don't know. The last US trip we found that there are actually a lot of good people out there who aren't as bitter or miserable as some of us have become.

Simon, still posting, still miserable despite being hopelessly optimistic that the sun will come out eventually. Hope you have been well. Would love to catch up with you. Massively gutted that I have come to the realisation that I cannot make Chicago. Timing is bad. But I will be in Philly. Can you make that?
-
Is this so that Randy can finally watch a fucking match?

Probably as Chicago Villa takes up so many seats at Toyota Park, the stadium looks half full just with him in there. He really is their own Barry Austin.

Still weighing in at approx 185lbs. Not bad considering I hit 43 tomorrow, and have about as much physical exercise as Stephen Hawkins.

Slight tangent - for those who are going you will be pleased to know that alcohol is served at the ground, and when I was there on Saturday, there was even a bar with liquor!. Beer was priced at $10 for a can poured into(plastic) glass about the size of a UK pint, and $8 for a smaller can or draught beer (little over 1/2 pint). Not sure how much the hard stuff was.

What the FUCK is "liquor" Simon? You fucking yank! ;-)

Paul, I suggest you fly out to Liberty, Missouri, then take a wagon and horses to Portland. Start now and you'll be there for kick-off. The original pioneers used to set off about this time so there would be enough grazing for the horses and cattle. Your wife will love the Little House on the Prairie Oregon Trail theme so much, she won't notice the Villa are playing. Sorted!

Hark at the posh vino quaffing frog!
-
I bloody am quaffing vino, to calm my nerves. Just back from selling a PS3 game to two dodgy characters on a supermarket car park at 11pm. They turned up in a Peugeot 607 with hoodies and "I'm fucking suspicious and an evil cut-throat" written all over them. I was shitting meself for a minute.

Aren't you allowed to arm yourself with a nice crusty baguette to thrust in a stabbing motion toward hoodlums like that, or is that only reserved as a line of defence against those smelly North African illegals?
-
As we are sending the team over there (not since the Pilgrim Fathers have we exported a less appealing bunch of characters), can we get some sort of search party organised to find Seattle Villain?
-
Anyone know the ticket situation (for the Philly game in particular)?
I see that tickets are available now online.
I also got an email from the New York Villans saying NOT to buy these tickets, because there would be more a Villa section.
But I really don't want to wait around and miss this (I also don't want to double buy tickets)...
-
For the Chicago game, it might be worth checking if The Globe is running a bus to the Stadium

I'll be at this game so I'm going to do some checking. i'll post on here. FYI- I booked my hotel room last night at the Doubletree by Hilton in downtown Philly. It is very central to bars, food etc.

Details would be good.
I have checked flights and not finding much below £800 for Philly and Chicago without any other expense which might kill it for my ages, but would love to go.
Cheers.

yeah, the seats are pretty awful...
But I don't even care. I am so excited for this. I am taking the wife because none of my friends have any interest in anything but baseball in July, but I wouldn't miss this for the world.
I'm 101% sure that my wife is going to have me tearing my hair out by the half though...
I wonder if there will be any Villa related events before the game in any of the lots.

I didn't realise that the Union played quite that far out of town.
Why didn't they build the soccer Stadium by the others ?

space and to avoid congestion with the other major sports I'd imagine. There are 4 arenas in that spot arena. The stadium is in Chester which is west of the airport and about 1/2 from downtown.
I've got my tickets in section 132. Going with a couple of mates from that area. Give them their first taste of Alex McLeish style football, so they'll likely never want to go again. Staying downtown on the 17th and 18th. It would good to hook with a few H&V's while I'm there for a jar or 7.

Had a really good conversation with Villa's Head of Marketing today. I am really encouraged by his enthusiasm. He is genuinely interested in reaching out to the fans to make this a memorable tour for us all. We threw around some ideas and have plans to talk again next week, so i encourage you to share the FaceBook event page with as many people as you can, and feel free to write about the things that you would like to do. I want go into details just yet as this was the first conversation, but I think you will like some of the things that could be lined up for us.
Reminder about the Facebook event page...

It now looks like my August baseball trip might be off. Once this is confirmed, I'm going to start looking at a working a short trip around the Philly and Chicago games
-
Mareting idea for Randy, why doesn't he put the US tour under the banner:
'Aston Villa: Curb Your Enthusiasm 2012 tour'
Seems only fair to the people on here who for some reason are excited about seeing a Mcleish team play.
-
would tickets be available 'on the day' in chicago?
living north of the border, will most likely drop in at the last minute.... 8)

We get to see them on TV here quite a bit so we know what we are in for, but as the old saying goes, "absence makes the heart grow fonder". I personally have not seen Villa play live since Columbus, and i would be just as excited if it was the ladies team coming here.

From what I have read on the Fire message boards, I am not sure it is going to be a sell-out. Someone even complained that the Fire must be in dire straights if they couldn't even get Stoke over us (cheeky fecker). I am not sure that tickets will be on sale on the day though. You might get a deal on StubHub (They have Philly and Portland tickets but no Chicago ones yet) if you want to avoid paying the face value for a ticket, but either way (StubHub or on the day, you are not going to be in the Villa section i wouldn't think.
-
Looks like I am trying to get my post count up :-)
I met with Scott Barsky from Chicago Villains today. We had a good exchange of ideas. Next week we hope to meet with someone from the Fire. One of the ideas we have is to tie in with a local "soccer" friendly bar that typically runs buses from the bar and back to all Fire games so that we can all have a simple way to get to the game, yet enjoy the downtown scene. We are going to scope it out and we will let you know. Probably be a small fee with the capabiity to book a "seat" online. The tickets are normally $10 and there is free beer on the bus (limited quantities). Can't argue with that right :-)
If you are staying in a downtown hotel, taxis pretty much anywhere will be $10-$20 to get back to your hotel when the bars lose at 4am!
The stadium is out of town and not a lot to do around there.
-
The Philly stadium is out of town too which is a bit of a pain. Still those going to Philly will make it work. I'll start a separate Philly thread nearer the date so us boys and girls and talk about all the great new players we are about to see under our new manager.
-
We have about 8 of us gong down to Portland from Vancouver so far. Anyone good some good ideas for a place to stay near the action in the city centre and pubs on the day. Would be good if we could all be in the same pub
