Gosh, I'd like him playing or even advising the right wing just now. What a super player.
According to wiki he's coaching at Wolves. Couldn't we nick him?
-
he's probably still better than Marc based on this seasons performances !
-
Yes would take Tony Blair back in a heartbeat compared to the satanically driven piece of shit we have in government now......oops,sorry just read the whole of your thread....still Dave Cameron what a c**t.
-
I loved him ...... got my ass off my seat and he turned up at VP walking in with his boots in a carrier bag .
-
Inspiring player even if the Youtube summary failed to show all the times that he tripped over the ball in his desire to speed off down the wing!
The BFR period really was a fun time to be a Villa fan.

Judging by their car crash of a team, I wouldn't want him.
-
I really like Tony.
-
The BFR era was certainly entertaining (apart from the last stages). Not afraid to have a go at anyone and played some great football.
-
One of my staff worked with him coaching and said he ignored him most of the time.
I told him to call him "Trigger" and see what happened.
Gives him references now.
I liked it when he ran faster than the ball and stood on it...
-
It was always a case if only with Tony, injuries played a big part,he peaked in the 89/90 season and never really took off from there,i think when Sir Graham left it didnt help his career.
-
My favourite memories of him are the cup goal at The Hawthorns and BFR chasing him along the touchline and geeing him up at home to Arsenal in one of Ron's first games. It summed up the change of mood from the apathy of the Dr Jo season for me. Didn't Brian Little leave the club after he and Turner fell out over him being promoted from the youth team to the first team too soon in Brian's opinion?
-
There are some really cracking goals in there, and a good reminder of the exciting football the team played as well as Tony Daley.
-
A great winger, how I wish we could have another like him.
-

he is still a Villa supporter though and that for me gets him a 'nod' regardless of how fucking inept he is.
-
Daley scored some superb goals.
My abiding memory as a youngster was his 'goal' against Luton.
-
Tony Daley was my Villa hero during the bleaker years. Having said that I always felt he never truly hit the heights and consistency that his talent could have delivered.

Really?
Somethings are more important than Villa.

Loved him. Pick of his goals for me would be:
Luton
West Brom away in the cup - pissing down with rain, Daley works his magic in the last minute to wrap the game up
Chelsea, away, New Years Day
He was the sort of player who would collect the ball in our own half and there would be a buzz of anticipation from the Villa fans
-
The first Villa goal I can clearly remember is his bicycle cick against Everton in 88-89 when we beat them 2-0, amazing player in his day!
-
Like others, I remember that goal against Luton fondly.
Didn't he train as a fitness coach/physio when his playing career ended? I think that is what he's doing at Wolves.
-
I've got a framed signed Daley action pic in my flat. My first hero.
Pick of his goals would be
Liverpool at home 91-92, Manc City at home same season, scorpion kick type volley from Sealey's goal kick.
-
Bearing in mind he's a fitness coach, can't we get him playing in the Masters for us?
-

I remember that well, running from the half way line and literally backing his pace to go the long way round the defence to score from a tight angle. Daley was inconsistent and often lacked a final ball but on his day he was one of the most exciting players I've ever seen in a Villa shirt.

Tony Daley is the epitomé of what I think an attacking Villa player should be. Blistering pace and scorer of spectacular goals. Apart from those goals his most telling contribution for Villa was the pinpoint cross for Dalian Atkinson's aggregate equaliser in the League Cup semi 2nd leg against Tranmere in 1994.

Electrifying when on form, but was sadly hampered by injury. That volley against Everton in '88 will always stay with me, as I was stood on the Holte right behind the goal and can remember now the thumping sound when he connected with the ball . One of my earliest memories of him was in a match at home to Forest in the late eighties. The ball went out to him on the right and he absolutely skinned Stuart Pearce and left him for dead. I remember my old man turning to me chuckling and said "watch what happens next time he gets the ball". Couple of minutes later he got the ball, pushed it past Pearce and Pearce nearly put him over the Trinity Road stand!! He was a real joy to watch though and I remember him giving Bergomi (the Italian captain at the time) a torrid evening when we beat Inter Milan 2-0 at Villa Park.
I've always thought it was a shame Mark Walters went when he did, because a midfield of Daley, Platt, Cowans and Walters would have been something to see.

I'm pretty sure he did play in the Masters one year and was still in great nick. He was still relatively quick, so they used him as the one player who has to stay in the opponents half and if I recall correctly, he scored quite a few goals.

I seem to remember Daley scoring at the Holte end v liverpool in the match that Ronnie rosenthal missed a sitter, and he beat 2 or 3 scousers and his shot was so bad it bobbled over Grobellars arm much to his dismay.

I think that was the year before when we won 1-0, but I could be wrong?
-
I remember watching a video of him in his new roll. I think it was about pre-season and how fitness had changed.
He’s clearly gone away and studied a bit, although I vaguely remember the clip I saw was a comparison with another club and he came across as quite old school.
-
Remember away at Chelsea in about 92/93 when we won 1-0 (Ray Houghton), stood in that god awful away end at the time (just a pile of rubble basically) chanting 'one Tony Daley' at a steward who looked just like him. Funny how you can remember things like that yet forget the scoreline in most of the games this season (0-0 being a good guess in such circumstances however!)

After which Atkinson, who seemed to think we still needed another goal, was trying to grab the ball out of the net, whilst Daley lay face down on the turf just in front of where I was sat, overcome by what he had just done
