Apparently, today's drive time show with Durham and Goughie is going to be about Villa. For all those that are on twitter, there is a person who has set up an account and website called villafansunited and he has been invited to speak on the show (via telephone not in person) today at 4.20ish. He plans to talk about the groups plans to oust mcleish and the general feeling from fans (not all fans but his followers). Just thought i'd share this incase anyone wants to tune and listen to their show and what this fan plans to say
-
I'd rather hear Cannon and Ball talk about Villa than those two planks...rock on Tommy.
-
The internet has a lot to answer for.
-
I reckon we already know what he's going to say.
McLeish out. And that's about all really.
Is this the same man that refused to meet with Faulkner and explain his views in a rational manner with the man at the top?
Beginning to smell like a publicity seeking no mark with a one point agenda.

I believe he is and I was some what confused and bemused why he would turn down that offer to meet the big cheese face to face?
I am going to listen to this guy and see what he has to say.
-
Wonder how much we are going to be embarrassed? I'm guessing a lot so I shan't be tuning in.
-
4.20 you say? Let's hope he's home from school in time.

Funny thing is that he is a student at uni (apparently)

Is that uni cycling by any chance?
-
Its definitely about us. Goughie just talked about the show and asked if Aston Villa is a big club and what is going on there? Then i got rudely interuppted by a work colleague so pulled my headphones out so didnt hear the rest.
will keep you guys updated just for info purposes.

Will he be out of bed in time?

"Villa are in a relegation battle and are acting like a small club.
-
Durham said that we are in a relegation fight, fans not happy and goughie has said we are acting like a small club.
Durham did go on to say that we are a MASSIVE club.
-
"Goughie" (as he demands to be called) is an imbecile.
-
Durham did go on to say that we are a MASSIVE club.
With that ginger tw@t we seem to be massive when doing sh't, so we can be criticised, and 'not that big a club' when doing well, so we can be ignored and dismissed.
-
"Goughie" (as he demands to be called) is an imbecile.
Be fair and call him something he can spell.
-
"Goughie" (as he demands to be called) is an imbecile.
Be fair and call him something he can spell.
He's always reminded me of an enthusiastic but dim 13 year old kid.
-
Durham........"It's where he's come from". That didn't take long to come up.
-
Listening to Goughie is like listening to bagpipes.
-
Goughie is doing my head in - such a bell end
-
It's the audio equivalent of trampolining on a bed of spikes with a nasty case of piles.
-
He's always reminded me of an enthusiastic but dim 13 year old kid.
The kid from Villa fan united? I doubt he's that old.
-
You just know he would say 'They are not happy because he came from Birmingham '
ffs
-
Listening to Goughie is like listening to bagpipes.
Being played by Zak Dingle off of Emmerdale.
-
Goughie said Faulkner is a very clever man .
-
On now
-
His name is Ryan - probably a false name.
-
Goughie said Faulkner is a very clever man .
A pot of cottage cheese must look clever to Darren Gough
-
Goughie said Faulkner is a very clever man .
Compared to Goughie he most certainly is.
-
Goughie said Faulkner is a very clever man.
Compared to him, so is Forest Gump.
-
Anyone fancy having a go back? 08717 223344.
-
No, that way madness lies.
-
I would be issuing death threats in a high-pitched scream within twenty seconds.
-
His name is Ryan - probably a false name.
I'd imagine the dimwit is also wearing a false nose, comedy glasses and a sticky on beard, in case he gets spotted on the radio.
-
Goughie said Faulkner is a very clever man .
How would he know?
-
Oh, god, this is embarrassing (again).
-
Durham and Goughie are really an annoying pair of twunts
-
It's great not to be listening to it.
-
Goughie said Faulkner is a very clever man .
How would he know?
must have hit a 6 off him .
-
No, that way madness lies.
And the fact you'd be directly paying these tw@ts wages at £1.50 a minute or whatever it is.
-
FFS..Brad Freidel going to Spurs makes them bigger than us..
-
Durham and Goughie "to me - to you- to me- to you"
-
Come on Ryan. You're the messiah tell us the way forward.
-
diarra on a free ffs He would have been alright ;)
-
Thank fuck, it's gone quiet...
-
We're doomed, I tell you...........
-
I suppose it's something to do whilst I set up my new iPhone :)
-
Come on Ryan. You're the messiah tell us the way forward.
He's not the messiah. He's a very naughty boy.
-

Ahem: "are there any women here at this stoning?"
-
I had a listen and if i'm honest, that Ryan fella did'nt come across as dimwitted and idiotic as i thought he would be. Durham and Goughie on the other hand are just absolutely abysmal.
-

Durham and Goughie are dimwitted and abysmal on purpose, gets the twats phoning it at £1.50 a minute...
-

1st time ive listened to these 2 on talksport....jeez both are annoying and think they know it all about villa...they know bugger all
-
Can you hear this twat? the colonel? 6th when Randy took over? twat
-
I knew I shouldn't have listened to it. Apparently when Randy took over we had just finished 6th and had no debt. Oh and he spoke to Randy's sidekick at a function, the Colonel.
-
By the way Talksport ring you back, it's not for money.
The lad represented how most villa fans I know feel.
-
He wasn't as bad is i thought he was going to be. I'm suprised that Durham ain't giving us a kicking but typical Gough, he aint got a clue.
-
"There were a thousand of us protesting against his appointment", shortly followed by "we supported him and gave him a chance".
-
I knew I shouldn't have listened to it. Apparently when Randy took over we had just finished 6th and had no debt. Oh and he spoke to Randy's sidekick at a function, the Colonel.
That's a lie, you need to listen again.
-
That must have been a nose, had to have been.
-
the fans can see whats going to happen before the owner .
spot on that
-
LOL a caller just referred to the General as the COLONEL!
-
I knew I shouldn't have listened to it. Apparently when Randy took over we had just finished 6th and had no debt. Oh and he spoke to Randy's sidekick at a function, the Colonel.
That's a lie, you need to listen again.
No it isn't and no I don't.

Nor me

Yes, he said he protested against him, but as he was now our manager he supported him, what's wrong with that?
Why are people trying to twist what this lad has said on Talksport, he spoke a lot of sense knew his stuff and gave valid reasons as to why he doing what he is doing.
-
The lad from Villa Fans United spoke surprisingly well from what I could hear. Fair play to him.
-

I think PWS is referring to the bloke who just phoned in.

Goughie is the annoying one
It's like listening to Johnny Vegas, who'd probably be better.
-
The main thing that is annoying me is the myth that the only reason we want him out is because of where he came from. We want rid because of what he is doing to us.
Agent AM it's time for you to return to base...

Your talking about a caller after this Ryan lad, so yes listen again.
Edit: I think we both misunderstood that then mate.

Yes i'm talking about a bloke who came on after this Ryan bloke. So for the second time, no, I don't need to listen again.
-
"There were a thousand of us protesting against his appointment", shortly followed by "we supported him and gave him a chance".

Maybe because I don't believe for one minute he ever gave the manager a chance. As has been mentioned here numerous times, nobody was happy with the appointment but most were willing to give him a chance. A minority never wanted him or gave him a chance. Our Ryan falls into this group.
-

To be honest I would have protested against him, then supported him.
I really wanted to give him a chance and I did. I desperately wanted him to be the most successful Villa manager ever but he will be ranked among the worst, and rightly so. He just ain't up to the job, shame really he seems a nice bloke.
-
I didn't want him, but we got him, I then gave him a chance, but now I think he has proven he isn't good enough.
He has a track record of being relegated from this sort of position we are in now, he doesn't have a record of getting teams out the shit.
-
now a bloody blue nose
-
wanker
-
Goughie saying AM had to get off to a flier. Wrong, he just had to show a bit of gradual improvement week on week, game on game. We needed to see a plan, a way forward. This manager and owner have turned off the light at the end of the tunnel.
-
What a mug that blues fan is thats just been on
-
What a prick.
-
As for the 'nose' perpetuation the myth of where he came from, feck off back under your stone. If we are a small club what the fuck are you lot?
-
What was the knuckle dragger saying?
-
What was the knuckle dragger saying?
It was hard to tell really, he was talking while picking his sisters pubes out his teeth.
-
What was the knuckle dragger saying?
Explained the two Rags relegations, basically blaming Bruce for the first and Carson Yueng for the second. Reckoned most Knuckledraggers loved McCleish even though his football was defensive.
Then said we're a small club.
-
What a shame that nose used his only phone call to make a complete dick of him self.
Never mind, back into your nice padded cell you go.
-
Villa are a small club , get over it . AMC is a good manager .
-
I knew I shouldn't have listened to it. Apparently when Randy took over we had just finished 6th and had no debt. Oh and he spoke to Randy's sidekick at a function, the Colonel.

The bloke said that he was at a 1981 reunion thingy and spoke to the colonel
-
Collymore talking sense.
Randy Lerner and Paul Faulkner really need to wake up and give some direction to the club.
-
Sadly, I think McLeish will see out his contract leaving us with bad divisions among the club. It's a shame too, I thought the VFU bloke did well.
-
Collymore does talk some sense but he falls into the same trap as everyone else when asking for a 4 or 5 year plan.
All we want to see is management and ownership we can relate to and players trying on the pitch to win games, if they aren't good enough I think we'll all accept it but the whole club from top to bottom including all the players are under-performing and not looking as though they really give a shit.
Unless Lerner sells this Summer there will be a mass exodus of season ticket holders next season and we are in for a whole world of pain in the next few.
-
Sadly, I think McLeish will see out his contract leaving us in the first division. It's a shame too, I thought the VFU like did well.
Fixed
-
Stan spoke well until he said Alex Mcleish is a good manager! Why is he a good manager at this level?
-
Stan spoke well until he said Alex Mcleish is a good manager! Why is he a good manager at this level?
McLeish is a good manager, just not for Aston Villa.

And not at this level!
McLeish is a good manager, just not for Aston Villa.

Stan talks as much shit as anyone else. McLeish is a shit Manager and was a shit appointment.
-
He wasn't as bad is i thought he was going to be. I'm suprised that Durham ain't giving us a kicking but typical Gough, he aint got a clue.
Durham dosen't seem to mind us.
The clubs he loves giving a kicking are Arsenal, Stoke, West Ham, Leeds and sometimes Spurs.

Gough is right though about the club being "small time" if Faulkner was willing to meet with a 'group' that consists of 532 friends on Facebook and 55 signed up members to their site.
-
Stan spoke well until he said Alex Mcleish is a good manager! Why is he a good manager at this level?
McLeish is a good manager, just not for Aston Villa.
agreed, the villa is not "his club" with only 3 players he brought in of his own choice. he was given a ready made squad which granted was better than any other team his managed (he admitted this himself) but they dont play to his strengths) mcleish has won trophies when given time
-
Our current squad cost in excess of £100 million, any other manager worth his salt would have seen us comfortably ahead of Norwich, Stoke etc even if we were not challenging the top 6.
-
Is it worth in excess of £100 million though? If we put them up for sale now, is that what we'd get for them?
I've just being trying to do something with my hopeless (as usual) fantasy league side and Swansea have the 3rd best goalie in the division (measured in clean sheets), and both Swansea and Norwich have midfielders and forwards amongst the the top 10 players in the league. Crap as we may have been against Swansea - their players didn't assemble those player points because we're shit - they got there because they're good. Isn't it a bit of a trap to assume that just because they're newly promoted, or they don't have players that Sky talk up, that they're not very good? They have some good up & coming players amongst their lot, whilst we have some seriously over the hill tat amongst ours.
-
When you're looking at it during a period where we're struggling, we're always likely to downgrade our players value. And some of these players at Norwich and Swansea will be having what proves to be their best season and get found out next year.
-
I turned it off as soon as that prick Collymore started talking about 'my beloved Aston Villa'.Can't believe he has been given hero status the way he ponced around the club, yet Barry gets abuse after over 400 games and 11 years service before leaving for £12m.It is a funny old game.
-

Of course it's not, but that's what it cost in terms of transfer fees, so you'd think they were pretty decent players at some stage. Your right many of our players look over the hill, but they shouldn't be at their age, we have very few outfield players older than heir early thirties, all far younger than Giggs, Scholes etc.
-

I think people have warmed to him a bit since he tends to speak well of the Villa, but nobody's given him hero status to my knowledge.

Some players look after themselves well and go well into their 30s but aren't Giggs & Scholes really far more the exception than the rule? Giggs has been an exceptional talent for his entire career - for me theres very few players in the same bracket. You put Giggs, Scholes etc - who are the etc? Tierre Henry & Robbie Keane have both put in decent cameos recently, but beyond that I'm struggling a bit.
We've got a few of these players that you can see don't have the natural athleticism of a player like Giggs. At around 30 - with the best will in the world - they aren't part of a £100 million team anymore, and we are just setting ourselves up to miserable if we think they could be.

Agreed
Current Squad on fee and current value
Guzan - 2m - 0
Given - 5m - 5m
Hutton - 4m - 2m
Warnock 8m - 2m
Dunne - 5m - 2m
Collins - 5m - 4m
Cuellar - 8m - 0 - out of contract this summer
Clark - 0 - 5m
Delph - 6m - 2m
Petrov - 8m - 2m
Ireland - 8m - 4m
Herd - 0 - 2m
Gardner - 0 - 4m

Albrighton - 0 - 4m
Gabby 0 - 12m
Bent 18m - 15m
Heskey - 3m - 0
Weiman - 0 - 1m
Fonz - 0 - 1m
So roughly 75-80 million worth - and I have probably left a few out and over/ undervalued some.
Around 85-90million spent. So yeah, a few have lost value certainly, but the squad is not totally useless looking at what was spent and how they have performed at other clubs. It is certainly not a squad that should be 15th in the table. Apart from the centre of midfield, it is not bad at all on paper.
-

I think that's the case, both Giggs and Scholes where exceptional players, so it only follows that instinctively they still have that class about them, obviously as they get older they may not be able to do the things physically that they used to, but if you get quality like that playing for you they me deliver 1 killer pass or 1 killer cross during a game and that's enough for the 3 pts.

Makoun as well ...
-
I agree we look light in centre mid, but we have spent about £30 mill on 4 of them (Makoun, Delph, Petrov and Ireland) so it's pretty galling to think we have to spend again in this area. If we do get new players in this area, what sort of a loss will we have to take on those 4 players if we have to shift them on. Also are Herd, Gardner and Bannan good enough to step up to the plate. Same with defence, 5 experienced guys (Cuellar, Warnock, Dunne, Collins and Hutton) that cost us an awful lot of money, I don't particularly rate any of them anymore and yet I've not seen enough from Lichaj, Baker, Stevens or Clark to think they can really step up to the plate, although Clark may well do. Revamping the defence again will be a major rebuilding task and I'm not sure McLeish is up to it. And that's not even mentioning the waste of space Heskey.
-
It was nice of Darren 'Goughy' Gough to give weight to his opinions on us by constantly pointing out that he had actually watched us play this season and he has a mate who has a box at Villa Park. It certainly made me take his opinions far more seriously.
-
He did say his mate cant get anybody to come to his box to watch Villa.
-
He did say his mate cant get anybody to come to his box to watch Villa.
I'm still finding it hard to believe that Darren Gough has got a mate!
-
Never mind one that wants to come in his box.
