For fuck's sake. Trust us to get involved in the Chinese market when everyone knows India will soon overtake their population.
McLeish and Faulkner have to go.
-
Smart move but it didn't take long before they set up their own '出 Mcleish' page.
-
I was hoping that there might be a funny anagram of Solihull in there somewhere but no that I can see.
-
This is the news i've been waiting for.
-
Why the fuck is there a picture of a smiling Bashar Assad on the advertisement.
-
Will this help us in our ambition to become one of the top 20 deloitte list once more? Can't wait!
-
Looks good to me. I think I'll have a number 6 and a number 23.
-
If i was involved in that mcleish out website i'd be very worried, house arrest beckons for them now!
-

Me too.
Followed by 2 cheese and onion cobs and a couple of pints of Ansells!

I love how after a couple of paragraphs of crap about us joining a chinese version of facebook there is a "click here for Fulham tickets" link at the bottom - If the club think that those people not going to the fulham game are now itching for a ticket following this groundbreaking news then they're completely wong.

Surreal.

Yes. What a ridiculous idea for the Villa website to be promoting sales of Villa tickets.
They'll be selling merchandise on there next. The corporate whores!

Yes next time the Villa world flips on it's axis with news items such as "Randy takes a dump" if they put click here for replica shirt at the bottom they'll coin it in.
-
They wouldn't put that on the website though would they?
I think you must visit some weird websites if that's the sort of news you're interested in. ;-)
-
Sohu what?
-
Villa now have a social media account to provide updates and reports to supporters across China.
All we need to do now is teach Barry Bannan how to speak Mandarin and we'll be minted.

I love how some people go out of their way to find things to moan about. So now we're both happy.
-

Because he's the kind of friend that the Chinese government likes.
Sorry but I don't feel too happy with this. Sohu is sponsored by the Chinese government.
A government that quite happily locks up and tortures it's own people for years on end for the 'crime' of having an opposing point of view.
I just don't feel happy seeing our club crest alongside a picture of a murdering bastard.
Don't forget we are the club that refused to salute another murderous dictator.
Shirt sales versus Human Rights? There should only be one winner.

I am happy with any efforts to raise our profile, be it here in China or back in England. The Premiership is reasonably popular here, partly due to the time difference - we are 8 hours ahead of the UK so perfect for watching games in bars on Saturday evening - but nowhere near as much as in SE Asia and the Chinese are only interested in winners.
People who followed Arsenal 3 years ago now wear Man City shirts. In fact, I have yet to meet a Chinese person who does not support a Sky club. It won't do any harm but I don't think it will change the world for Villa. A shop front in the city centre advertises the imminent opening of a Manure bar but the bar is still not open after 9 months. This ain't Singapore.

As opposed to torturing other countries' people, like we do...
Still, we're the good guys, so it's okay.
-
Yes, but the people we torture deserve it!
-

It was more of a flipant observation Dave but considering the level of moaning on here lately, if it was taken to be moaning it wouldn't touch the sides.
-
I'm glad we're dealing with Weibo because its particularly resilient to hacking.
Everyone knows that Weibo wobbles but it won't fall down.
I'll get my Huafu.
-
Up the Virra
-
Fuck you, Arex McReish!
I'll give it 2 more posts of this nature before the thread's locked.....

No torture isn't acceptable no matter who does it.
When was the last time that someone was shot in the UK for voicing their opposition to the government?
Or jailed and tortured for having religious beliefs?
Arrested and shot for being homosexual?
Shot down in their thousands for asking for democracy in their country?
I'm sorry but I just don't feel comfortable with this, our club crest should never appear next to a picture of any leader of a country that is systematically killing it's own people.
The Chinese government despite all it's economic power is still a murderous regime and our great club should never be associated with them no matter how loosely.
Just to add, I made my first post in this thread this morning, and I'm sure that if I'd posted from inside China I wouldn't be sitting here now typing this reply.
-
Of course you wouldn't. Because if you'd posted from inside China this morning, you wouldn"t have got here in time.
This chicken is rubbery etc.

Don't you need to say "they won't dare to lock this thread"?
Isn't the Chinese version of facebook called renren?
-
I prefer the Saudi Arabian version. Coveredfacebook.

There is far more social unrest and dissent here than people at home realise. It usualy relates to compulsory land clearances by the government with locals arming themselves, attacking police / gov't officials, and sometimes winning. This is never, ever shown on tv though.
Occasionally a factory will be sold to private owners by a local authority and the workers will revolt, often taking (government officials) hostages, occasionally killing them.
Beijing keeps a tight hold on all things within the city, but further afield it's more opaque, with cities and counties often disregarding government edicts if it suits them (ie there is money to be made)

Is that your front door being kicked in?

Ah! Human rights are alive and well in dear old England.
Good to see that Bloody Sunday, the Miners' Strike and near-murderous assaults on studenbt demonstrators never happened then!

One of those incidents was 28 years ago, another was over 40 years ago ( and not in England), and I wouldn't compare the student demonstrators getting a bit of a shoeing with real human rights abuses.
Other than that, I pretty much agree with you
-
It really was nice knowing you Pat.
-
Anyone heard from the laughing policeman ?
He seems to have disappeared since posting disparaging comments about the Chinese government,
Just getting a bit worried for him, unless he's gone out to stand in front of moving vehicles in the local square
-

I used my old boss' computer for that post....
Seriously, the Chinese will react and protest if money is involved. As you would expect in a developing country, improving your lot and earning more money is more important than political change.
