Ireland, Cuellar and Warnock come into the team from last week. Albrighton, Gardner and Collins drop out.

Not sure if trying to accommodate Keane, Bent and Gabby in the same team is a smart move but lets hope it's a gamble that pays off. Come on the lads!

Or he might just have picked up a knock. When Ireland missed Wolves with a tight hamstring we didn't know about it until after the game.

Really wish we utilized Cuellar more. Pre-game interview McLeish just said "Last time Cuellar came into the side he was absolutely terrific." He could be a great value to this team and I hope he proves his worth tonight.

And what's going on with N'Zogbia.. his heel? The guy has to feature soon, no?

I always love that expression. If you're not a 'footballer', why are you a footballer? So to speak.

Keane is good though. He's the only one who actually moves off the ball.

Warnock a liability.

Confidence completely gone. Hopefully it comes back at some point.

How much longer do we wait before replacing him? It's been at least 18 months now since he had a spell of good games?

I never know why we give the ball away with such obliging ease.
We don't have enough footballers in the team...

I always love that expression. If you're not a 'footballer', why are you a footballer? So to speak.

Keane is good though. He's the only one who actually moves off the ball.

Is it because ten of them are shit footballers or because Keane has spent less time being coached by our coaches? Or both?

What a funny (but fun) half that was. Arsenal have been all tappy tappy. We've been a bit disorganised at the back, but also resolute. I've barely noticed Clark or Ireland. Keane has been in and out but very good when in. Gabby is doing really well and we do look dangerous on the break. If we had CNZ and Albrighton I'd be really tempted to play them both for the last half hour.

We definitely need to get more composed. Cuellar, Hutton in particular. Warnock improved after a very ropey start.

Would like to see us pass it quite a bit better still. We're not really moving in triangles to give each other options.

Ireland's ball for Bent was exactly what he thrives on

Alan Green was quite scathing about Darren Bent on R5, referring to him as a very expensive and ineffective luxury or words to that effect.

Bell end of the highest order.   Not interested if its not red

That first half couldn't have gone better. I don't think we'll keep a clean sheet though, we rarely do even when we win. A shame that neither Albrighton or Zoggy are on the bench as we could kill the game off with their ability on the break.

Henry scored a hat-trick, including a last minute winner after we led 2-0 at Highbury nine or ten years ago so I'm not going to break out the champers just yet.

Yep. He can't organise the defense, he can't organise the midfield, he can't use Darren Bent effectively, he certainly can't motivate. I can't think of one thing he's good at at all. A dire manager who will only take us one way, plus we're stuck with him for another couple of seasons as well. Alan Green was quite scathing about Darren Bent on R5, referring to him as a very expensive and ineffective luxury or words to that effect.

Bell end of the highest order.   Not interested if its not red

I'm not sure what a bell end is but I am sure that Alan Green is one.

Right: you always get a chance.  When it comes, let's take it.

We've had them and the players pass rather than shoot, looks like a lack of confidence.

officials have really fucked us over today.
Our defence has fucked us over today. Something they have doing for 2 seasons at least now
True, Bent should stay up near the halfway line...

So what happened to the second half tactics then? Was he expecting Arsenal not to come out at us full pelt? I agree with you to an extent, the players have to take some of the responsibility, but you also have to question the managers tactics.

Tactics have nothing to do with the fact that three of our four defenders can't tackle standing up and have to throw themselves into challenges constantly, giving away stupid goals and penalties. You can excuse a striker for doing it, for Warnock, Hutton and Dunne there is no excuse.

If you mean relegation, nah. If you mean McLeish, I can't see that either. Some of our players must be replaced in the summer though, a big change is needed.

It's not where the manager came from it's what he is, and that is not good enough.  Like most of the team.

Yeah, he's bottled 3 or 4 opportunities today, he's left his balls in the dressing room.

He makes Downing look brave.

Bleeding shambles.

First half was really good but once Arsenal got the first back it was kind of inevitable wasn't it?

Warnock and Hutton please please please fcuk off before Tuesday midnight.

Keane wasn't much better but still has credit in his bank from Molineux.

Ireland was superb.

I think we played alright but made 3 costly errors and were punished for all 3 thier pace shone through. We were 2-0 up but out lack of pace in midfield was evident from the start and they used that to full effect.

Would have been handly to take a win into the QPR game now losing like that I think the crowd at home will be restless for that match

In the 43 years of supporting Villa I have never witnessed such a pair of inadequate, inept, miserable excuses for full back. How many goals have these utter and complete clowns donated to the opposition this season?

Oh well, its only a game. We just messed up, but its been happening all season, players playing well one minute, and appalling the next. Confusing, annoying but at half time everyone thought we were the greatest!
Up The Villa, always.
And I would rather have the passion Alex was showing than the so called schoolmasterly Wenger

Well done lads!!

There's not another team in the country that would capitulate like that.

You can always count on Villa finding a way to fuck things up and that's been the way long before Eck turned up.

Spot on.

It's been a problem for as long as I've supported this lot (15 years). We've always been hopeless at defending leads against good teams.

This sort of reminds me of Manure last season when we were battering them in the second half, 2-0 up and yet I had the naggin feeling we wouldn't win the game.

Same today at half time although I thought we'd hang on to get a replay.

The game was exciting and we played with great desire, but if you have 2 clowns in the team you can't have any ambition.
Arsenal had three goals gifted: one by Dunne, one by the referee and one by Hutton. But it was the Dunne's silly foul  that decided the game, as usual.
You dont need to be Leonardo da Vinci to realize that at the end of the 1st half they were overwhelmed by whistles of their own fans, and to comprehend that if we had resisted for 20 minutes they would give up. There was only one thing to avoid, to concede an easy gol, and Clownne did it, as usual. I only wonder if his huge wages are paid by AVFC or AFC. . .

As someone who posted a rant after we withdrew from the FA Cup last season it's only fair to come on and say at least we had a go this time.
The fact we weren't good enough to get any further, or hold onto a two goal lead, is another matter altogether – but at least I can't accuse our manager this year of showing disrespect to either the competition or those that travelled to Bristol and/or Arsenal.
This time last year despite having the services of Ashley Young, Downing and Kyle Walker at his disposal, the previous manager felt we couldn't let the cup get in the way of avoiding relegation.

Heard of an Arsenal fan who went for a pint before half time and came back late in teh second half. He managed to miss four goals.
