Not sure if these have been posted before. Shame about a certain entry in 1981!

Obviously the best one in 1980 was Tony Morley followed by Tommy Cassidy for Newcastle because Peter Withe was involved in the build up. In 1981 it was Gary Shaw followed by Garry Thompson and Steve Hunt combining for Coventry to score against Blues.

Football seem to be much better in the earlys 80s compared to sky era. Why football is lot better in these days with very few black players and foreign players and less athletics playing football. It is mostly British and Irish players.

Nice goals and Francis goal is nothing special.

Shall we say you didn't intend that to come out the way it did?

I am talking about how exciting the games not politics or money.

I'm talking about your reference to black players, and in particular the distinction between them and British ones. It could be read as you saying the game was better when there were fewer black and foreign players and more British & Irish ones. I'm sure that's not what you meant.

Did you mean that football was better when there were less black and foreign players and a higher proportion of British & Irish ones?

Please, please think about it. You are saying football was better with less black and foreign players, and that by extension players cannot be black and British. Do you have any idea how offensive this is?

I wondered what had happened to Ron Noades, didn't expect him to pitch up on H&V though.  SPA, think of the black players we've had at Villa over the years:  McGrath, Barrett, Daley, Atkinson, Taylor, Young, Dublin etc etc etc.  In what way would be (plus football and society in general) be better off with fewer black players?

As was pointed out to the aforementioned Ron Noades at the time, black players in the 70s and 80s generally had to work harder to make the grade, and had to put up with some horrible abuse at the same time.

I hope you've just been taken out of context because views like that we could well do without.
