Hopefully Gabby is on on the wing and Ireland behind Bent, as opposed to Ireland playing wide left.

Players love Villa Park as much as we do. There's something so special about that place. How many times do we ehar players from opposing teams say it's their favourite ground?

Come you villa, that bench looks quite strong.

I'm not surprised opposing players like Villa Park this season!

I agree. Ireland is far more effective in the center. It's pointless having him out left.
He can really hurt the opposition floating around behind the main striker.

Yes, I thought the bench looked as strong as I've seen it for a while.  Come on you Villa boys, need the three points today to get on a good run for our next 8 or so winnable games (Man City possibly excluded).

Warnock never had that ball under control, followed by Hutton twatting it out of play. They are nearly as good a double act as Dunne and  Collins.

I miss Walker and Young at full back terribly!

It's all very well talking about playing good football, but we remain a truly shit side. Four home defeats in a row, five in six, is nothing like acceptable.

How come every time we try to move the ball from one wing to the other, it has to go through one of Dunne/Collins or even both first, rather than straight across the midfield?

under MON they didn't have to be. The system was counter attack and their job was to get rid to Ash, Gabby or Carew as quickly as possible. McLeish has to find players that actually want the ball and not just want to clear into a dark corner of Witton at every opportunity.

Well, I don't doubt his chasing in the channels or his closing down, but the flick ons have been rather pointless (that's not his fault at all, flick ons are hardly the best tactic at the best of times), and technically he's not looking comfortable to me.

You're right though. The lack of footballing ability/thought/both in the back four is our biggest problem with the style of play at the moment.

For me Warnock simply has to go off at the break. We cant have two full backs who are unable to use the ball at their feet. Id give Delph a shot there. Keane for Petrov, Ireland to play deeper next to Clark.

McLeish will go for the safe option though. Keane for Albrighton. Ireland to go on the right.

We scored from a set piece away to Sunderland. Larsson would have been a handy signing in the summer. We havent a player with the technical ability to take one. Shocking statement but true.

Agree with all of that.

The sooner Carlos is back, the better.

Petrov has been AWOL for the last few games, today more than ever. We really need him to get more involved and put some pressure on when in attack.

The big problem yet again is we're trying to accomodate both Gabby and Bent and it's still not working. Gabby isn't looking a threat and Bent is getting next to zero service.

Add to that the complete lack of movement, it's extremely frustrating. Just as an example, we have the ball just in their half in the centre circle, Warnock instead of pushing up into an advanced position to receive the ball, is still stuck 10 yards in his own half and the ball gets played backwards instead of forwards.

Despite having 3 shots on target compared to the one of Everton, we really aren't doing ourselves justice. We're more a threat to ourselves than anything Everton have to offer.

Interesting that people blast his work rate too, but Bent has run the 6th furthest of the 20 outfield players. The way he is discussed you would think he would be 20th.

And the commentary team need to stop with the Saha penalty claim. It probably was, but analysing every 30 seconds won't change it.

If we lose, it will be the first time in 49 years we have lost 5 straight at home.

Keane for Warnock. Clark to LB I assume

fullbacks and petrov have been the blocking point today, all three have been very poor.  We should be looking to sub those 3, but the replacements aren't there.

nzogbia leftback, keane on for hutton and marc move back maybe?

wornock off for keane though, which will mean clark at LB even though he's been far better than petrov.

Clark will go to left back. Not sure what that will do for our fluency, but hey ho, maybe worth a shot.

really annoyed he's moved clark rather than replacing petrov.  This has been an awful performance from stan.  He has had a good season this year but today has been awful.

We've seen 15minutes of good football in 88minutes and yet he's only made one change.  Again in the e-mail he made a big deal about the quality of the young players but he clearly doesn't trust any of them to come on and bring anything to the team, instead he'd rather watch the same players make the same mistakes.

Saha has been dreadful. Cahill too. Both players shadows of their former selves.

Albrighton should have been replaced 15 mins ago. Poor management again from McLeish.

Outrageous dive from Heitinga there

Collins again 'with an illtimed challenge'

Danger here.....

This game ending in a draw tells everything you need to know about the two clubs at this point in time. Both clubs just drifting along, happy to be in the PL, devoid of any real ambition to do much more than that.
