My brother who for many years worked in mental health is heavily involved with a fantastic project which was started by Alzheimer Scotland. There has been a few mentions in the press and various celeb supporters have got involved but they want as many people possible to contribute.
Basically they have launched a website requesting people send in their football related memories, they have the full support of the SFA (not the band) and many clubs are opening up their archives to aid the project, FIFA have expressed an interest and their support. The project first started a couple of years ago when volunteers worked with images and memorabilia to stimulate memories and they had a remarkable effect, whilst people struggled to remember the name of the person they had been married to for 50 years they could recall incidents from a football match many years ago.
If you've got a memory you would like to share please visit the website and leave a message, i'm sure something that happened on 26th May 1982 might get a mention but equally I remember a wet night in Nottingham watching a 0-0 bore draw against Notts County!

That game at Notts County was the coldest I've ever been at a match. And that's coming from someone who went to Boundary Park a number of times!

Boundary Park is the coldest i've ever been! I can remember a free kick routine at County that involved Kevin Richardson and Steve Staunton running over the ball and leaving nobody to take it.

I remember Boundary Park in 87-88, standing at the top of that open away end, it was absolutely fucking freezing.

Charlton away, 0-0. Bent was playing for them, Milner for us (so 2005?). The worst smell ever at a football stadium in the away end.

I saw Staunton and Little Alan wright work exactly the same impressive free-kick routine at Stamford Bridge.
So there's a common denominator there!

Mods (not you Percy), any chance this could be moved to the Villa Memories forum?

Didn't we miss a penalty in that game?

I remember a freezing cold day there where the game was delayed due to a gas leak. We lost 3-2, Mark Blake scored for us.

When we did them 6-0 it was cold but, as was usual in those days, we were in their end so we had the shelter of the roof.

Just want to give this a 'bump'. There are some great stories on here, so why not go and add them to the sporting memories site, they've just been given a decent sized grant and offices at Hampden Park and are awaiting news of whether they will be the recipients of some lottery money to really push the project on.
