My best period of watching Villa. Simply loved our style of play in them days. Listen to the fawning of the MOTD pundits as well.
-
That's probably my favourite Villa goal.
What a marvellous side we were back then.
-
Bloody hell we were relentless - streaming forward, running with the ball. Oh for Deano and Yorke again. How good was Woods that day to keep it below 6!
Great find - thanks.

Bloody marvelous. Thanks Kippaxvilla, great memories. Maybe we'll see football like that again.
-
it still brings a big smile doesn't it

You do have to feel for Chris Woods. First Shilton then Seaman being around to stop a very long career as the nations number 1.

The two goals against Ipswich for two totally different reasons are mine. Well at VP anyway.
-
Wonderful times.

And a snippet right at the start of this montage of my favourite away day in the history of mankind. I don't think he I ever felt as happy at the end of a game.
-
I was 13-14 during this season and I'd started to stand on the Holte with mates rather than my Grandad for the first time. I just remember going to school most Mondays feeling immensely proud in my Villa drill top after another performance of the highest quality.

Yeah, just a brilliant day out.

Fantastic Video, many thanks
-
Great videos, they bring back some happy times.
-
Great days, twenty years down the line, you wouldn't think its the same club.
-
One of my favourites also. I only started going down the Villa in 91 (was7). Hearing Big Ron after kind of depressives me even more about our current state!!
-
Happy days.
-
I enjoyed this season more than the Title year in 81. We were fantstic up until the last couple of weeks.
-
If only BFR hadn't have dropped Yorke,we wouldve been Champions.

We were in a worse state 18 months later than we are now, so I wouldn't get too depressed.

Passing and moving...as Brooking says, exactly what we do not do now, the players just stand and watch, there is no movement whatsoever.
We were a good side then, and are a million trillion miles away from that now.
-
Goal of the month, every month.
-
Class. Look whats happend to Wednesday since then. Puts some of our current troubles into some sort of perspective.
-
This was the season before I started going down to VP at 6/7ish, but still a great watch. Cheers for that.

Is that the common consensus? Genuinely curious, was too young to remember every game that season.

I think so, Dalian Atkinson came back from injury & we tailed off. Looking at the league table we only got 6 points from our last 8 games.

Just what I was thinking as I watched it Oscar.
Move, pass, control, shoot <sigh>

It was,Yorke and Saunders had started to really work well together both scoring goals, the Big Ron brought in Dalian, who wasn't fully fit,i think he moved Yorke to the wing, and the wheels started to come off.
A few years later when Sir Brian bought Collymore,he tried to accomadate Yorke,Collymore and Savo,it never worked and we had a terrible start to the season,in hindsight we should have flogged Savo straight away as Yorke was so good he could play with anyone,he couldve got the best out of Collymore.

I remember going to the Sheff Wed game with a mate who was a gloryhunter Manc fan. This was his first ever live game. That first goal is near the top of my all time fave Villa goals. I remember as we leaving the Holte (left side of course) that it seemed something was kicking off outside the exit. As there was a real bottle neck and then loads of running to and from the top of the stairs.
