I take it the powers that be aren't confident of us winning the FA Cup then

Await jokes about being the only trophy at Villa Park for years. Yawn.
-
Jokes?

below the article is a dating site for men specifically looking for russian and eastern european women! Amazing??
-
great - we can put the revenue towards paying for Jenas :o

I think this is a good thing for the club. extra income! Exactly whats required at the moment.
-
If it's Arsenal v Chelsea or Man City, they can come and have a look at The European Cup.

And the Inter Toto cup :-[

Should bring a bit extra money into the club.
-
And good publicity, and will remind the world where semi-finals should be held.
-
I see this as a 'sign'.
The last time we had it's equivalent (The Charity Shield) at Villa Park was back in the early 70's. We played Man City and lost.
So, I wont mind the same result again as I assume they will win the league and it will mean we will have won the FA cup.

And that letter if they're lucky.

It seems a long time ago since we knocked back the Olympics because we had plans to redevelop the ground next summer.

I wonder who Man City will be playing?

Man Utd.
Trust me, Citeh-ManUre matches in all competitions are going to become as regular and tedious as Liverpool-Forest was in the late 70s, Liverpool-Everton in the mid 80s and Arsenal-Leeds in the early 90s. It's already nailed on for the Europa League later this season.

It's a strong nod by the football authorities, rewarding us for our location between London and Manchester.

Surprisingly, pulling out of hosting Olympic football has a nice couple of positives.
1. Allows us to host the Community Shield
2. Allows us to host a Team GB football team friendly
