I posted this on the highlights thread but I guess it should have one of its own.

Quote
Ajax v Rosenborg kicked off at 17:30 and has just finished.  Rosenborg won 2-0 which means we've won our group and we're in line to play Marseille.  Ajax should get to play Barcelona.

If my memory serves me correctly then the quarter final is over one leg and as group winners we get to play at home, Ajax will be away.  Feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken.

According to the Next Gen website the dates for the quarter finals are still to be announced.  There's still one group game without a confirmed date so I expect it'll be a while yet.

I'm quite enjoying this tournament, it'd be great if we could win it.

Who do we get next?
I reckon Marseille at home but not sure, people kept saying we were due to get Barca if we were runners up so i'm assuming marseille.

Let's hope GG is eligible to play.

Marseille need to beat Celtic by 8 goals to pip Barcelona in their group so I guess it's pretty much certain we'll play them.  That fixture will be played on the 7th of December.

Why do people think we'll play Marseille? Couldn't we play any of the group runners-up?

Even if we can't draw the runners-up from our own group or an English team that leaves it as a fifty-fifty between Marseille and the runners-up in Spurs group (unless it's Spurs, unlikely as they're well clear). Unless someone has seen a link saying we play the Group 1 Runners-up?

Slightly off topic, but anyone notice how Man City have done in this Series? Spectacularly badly!

They'll struggle to fill the planned 30,000-capacity reserve and youth vanity project stadium at this rate.

I really hope that we can get a big turnout for the QF. The young lads have been superb and it's been a joy watching the games on AVTV. I've always been a fan of Marseille since the mid 80's. Even if they had a crook owner in charge. That team that won the European Cup was superb. Let's cheer on our lads to make it to the SF!

The last game against Ajax is the only one I've made it to, it was very enjoyable.  So indeed let's try and get a good turn out for the Quarter final.

They only managed to beat them 1-0 when Marseille were at home so we have pretty much definitely got them in the Qtr Final.

Saying that they also put 4 past Barcelona to win 4-1 so they are a bit hit and miss!

Glad we got Marseille, gives our boys the best chance of progressing. Hopefully we will get through to the final and face Barca then!

What other British teams are in this? I noticed when watching the uchoob highlights of the Ajax game that Liverpool got whipped 8-1 or something by Shporting Lisboa.

Villa, Spurs, liverpool and City I think.

Not sure on what basis spur's youth system applies but the other clubs have a (recent) history of producing players.

When will the next game be?  Is it likely they will be missing Gary Gardner?

Speaking to a fan on twitter said yesterday they'd seen it on the OS that the Quarters will be in the new year, so if thats right Gary will be fine to play... but will probably mean he still isnt in the first team.

What was the attendance for Ajax? I intended to go, but completely forgot about it, to my eternal shame.

Will definitely pop down for Marseille.

One leg? Bollocks. Taking the wife to Barcelona or Marseille looked like a plan.

Barcelona...Marseille ...meh...
Why don't  you two get down here early and see  the  delights of Soho road followed by lunch in the Barton's and  a romantic walk in Aston Park, say a little prayer in the Church?

Trinity was well populated. I would say about 1,500 to 2,000. The posh blue seats were full of junior officials from UEFA and scouts from many clubs all over Europe.
