That header and the last goal are top class.

The third goal was top class, and the 1st goal was a brilliant cross.

Was at the game with over 2,000 others according to AVTV.
The first goal looked like a well placed weak header, it wasn't until I saw it on AVTV that I realised how much work GG put into it. As it was only a lobbed cross he had to generate the power himself, absolute quality.
I think this months loan to Coventry is the prequel to him breaking into the 1st team. It's a step up for him and if he does well there he'll come back to Villa as a 1st teamer.
Talking of quality, Jordan Graham's jinking bit of skill to beat 5 players only for the ref to bring it back with 3 Villa lads in the box.

I thought I had over sold the goals when I posted  comments below on the match thread from Villa park on Tuesday but not a bit of it and  the first goal looks better than I saw it!

3-0 Gardner hat trick best goal of the night as he picks up the ball half way between centre circle and box and powers thru and scores.
That is qualification and hopefully top spot if Ajax don't win their last match

2-0 Gardner scores with a heavily deflected free kick after Johnson was fouled.

Great header from Gardner from a lovely cross from Samir Carruthers

Good goal, the third. If you track his run he starts well inside his own half.

Tx for the clip! GG is a find all right. Hope it goes well at Cov for him and we can see him in the first team. If so, I also hope he doesn't become hamstrung and frustrated by AMC tactics at that level. Hate to lose him.

Thanks gervilla. I hope GG continues to grow as a player, he looks a class above most players his own age and he plays for Villa  8)

Ajax v Rosenborg kicked off at 17:30 and has just finished.  Rosenborg won 2-0 which means we've won our group and we're in line to play Marseille.  Ajax should get to play Barcelona.

If my memory serves me correctly then the quarter final is over one leg and as group winners we get to play at home, Ajax will be away.  Feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken.

According to the Next Gen website the dates for the quarter finals are still to be announced.  There's still one group game without a confirmed date so I expect it'll be a while yet.

I'm quite enjoying this tournament, it'd be great if we could win it.

Yes, I heard Marseille or Barcalona at home.
Listen to GG on AVTV. When told it could be Barcalona "Bring them on, we're not scared of anyone"
