Title: Aston Villa v Ajax (NextGen): Combined Match Threads
Post by: Legion on November 22, 2011, 08:06:42 AM
Get yourselves down to VP this evening and watch a team wearing claret and blue who will at least be making an effort and showing some pride unlike that negative bunch of muppets from last night. KO 7pm.

1-0 Home win. Carruthers 24.

Have taken a day off today to come down to Brum to watch the kids - looking forward to it.

Look out for a lad in a half Villa/half Ajax scarf - and say hello to VCTM jnr !!

After being negative and saying we'd definitely lose to Spurzz yesterday, I'll be optimistic and say a Villa win - 3-2 to us.

So long as we don't get tanked we should be through though really.

Does anyone know if you can just turn up and pay at the gate tonight?

Probably not the gate itself but you can just buy from the ticket office near the Trinity Road Stand. Or you could in the other two games... Would be suprised if this was any different.

Cheers CD, wanted to try and make sure that if I rock up tonight with any mates we can get tickets.

Sign i'm getting very old when I still use the term pay on the gate!

Bollocks, the ones I was going with aren't going now as the cars died. Not sure I can be arsed with being a bus wanker and sitting on me todd to watch the U-19s!

What's the betting this game is better than the one served up last night?

Great header from Gardner from a lovely cross from Samir Carruthers

Half time 1-0 to us. Collectively Ajax kids are a little better than us but Gardner is a step above all others on the pitch.

I think he's played well within himself so far and our best players have beed Burke and Robinson, GG is a fantastic player but I'm not sure this level stretches him enough now, he knows he can boss it without really trying.

2.0 Villa, Gardner again, comedy keeping from a free kick

2-0 Gardner scores with a heavily deflected free kick after Johnson was fouled.

3.0 Gardner hat trick, lovely goal driving deep from midfield and cool finish, Gerrardesq.

3-0 Gardner hat trick best goal of the night as he picks up the ball half way between centre circle and box and powers thru and scores.
That is qualification and hopefully top spot if Ajax don't win their last match

Gardner needs first team footy pronto. With jenas coming back he seems far down the pecking order. I'd send him on loan to a championship side. If we were better we could send him to a lower prem side but we can't risk boosting the competition!!

Can we get Gardner in the first team please.

Has to start with IMO. Full of confidence and quality, jenas, gardner, herd maybe.

Yet again our wonderful academy lifts the gloom. Then again, it's the hope that kills you.

Well done boys, shame you can't be accommodated into the first team's 'style'.

Up till now I've not been convinced he's ready but there is little point him staying at this level, every tine he looked interested tonight he looked a class above. He needs bedding into the first team, starting with half an hour on Sunday.

Gardner has no chance, as our flair player has that spot. Heskey isn't easy to push over - oh! wait...

I've a feeling he might make the bench on Sunday.

Get him on the bench on Sunday, give us something to lift the club, theres nothing better than a highly rated acadamy graduate coming through, i've literally seen him twice but both times he's been the best player on the pitch, the thing that stands out for me is his build, he looks huge compared to the others at that level, he could easily handle himself in the first team, give him the set pieces aswell while were at it.

First time I have watched the kids 'live'. I thought the keeper Siegrist commanded the box outstandingly. Webb at centre back read the game very well. Johnson, Burke an Gardner showed talent. You could tell Gardner has played at 'England' level.

Is he ready for the first team? My heart says yes but my brain says at the moment for chirst sakes no.

Bollocks to Gardner being on the bench, get him on the pitch!!!

Put some more of the kids in as well who like to play football instead of putting that piss poor excuse for a footballer Heskey in the side every bastard week

How old was his brother when he started getting on the bench? Hes obviously a better talent than Craig,he'll offer us more from the bench than Ireland ever has.

If you've got AVTV listen to his interview, It sent a tingle down my spine.
When told we could face Barcalona, he replied: Bring them on, we're not scared of anyone!
