Villa will cross the channel next week for the annual Beaujolais Nouveau Festival - and the adventure could raise a whopping five-figure sum for Acorns.

The AVFC Beaujolais Adventure promises to be a unique and exciting event with 10 teams from the club embarking on the French festival of wine and food.

And as part of the adventure, Villa's official formal wear supplier Harvey Nichols will be teaming up with graffiti artist Temper to raise money for our official charity partner.

The acclaimed artist, real name Arron Bird, has agreed to design a bespoke and unique piece of art that will be converted in to bottle front wine labels to raise money for Acorns.

These labels will be signed and then applied to 12 bottles of Beaujolais Nouveau wine which the travelling group will bring back from their adventure and Harvey Nichols have agreed to sell these very special bottles.

Each bottle has a minimum reserve price of £1,000 and will come with a larger signed, framed and numbered version of the artwork.

Of course those feeling extra generous can pay as much as they wish for the items and contribute further to this great cause.

The bottles and prints will be available to purchase from Harvey Nichols from Saturday November 19 with all funds going to Acorns.

Temper has also very generously agreed to donate his original signed artwork to the charity - which could fetch £10,000 and potentially a lot more.

After departing from Villa Park to embark on Folkestone to Calais Eurotunnel crossing, the travelling party will head for Villefranche-sur-Saone area of France.

Following check-in at the Hotel Plaisance, there will be a short coach transfer to Beaujeu to enjoy some of the Beaujolais Nouveau festival activities, before attending the 'Les Sarmentelles de Beaujeu' - for full details click here.

Following a colossal round trip of 1,350 miles over a two day period, the AVFC Beaujolais Adventure will finish with a celebration dinner in Villa Park's Directors Suite on Friday November 18.

This will be an evening of culinary delight with a fantastic menu created by AVFC's award winning team of chefs, with each course matched with beautiful wines originating from within or near to the Beaujolais regions of France.

There are limited places available for joining in at the celebration dinner.

These can be booked at a price of £60 [inc VAT] per person.

Please contact the sales team on 0800 612 0960 [option one].

Beaujolais Nouveau = Sarsons.

totally disagree - it doesn't have as much taste or body as Sarsons and doesn't go well with chips

I've made a principled stand against buying any French wine since the mid-90's when any French industrial dispute seemed to end up with them blocking the Channel ports or providing somewhere convenient for illegal immigrants to stay on their way to the UK.

That's showed them.

I wouldn't wipe my arse on it.
Mind you, if the label was big enough...

I was in Lyon a few years ago on the day the Beaujolais was released for the year, it was ace, people hammered in the street, falling over and being sick in the gutter. Just like home.
