I realize this could go in the Brown's section but the Heroes Discussion could always use a pick-me up. As most of us know Lerner's Browns are awful. Maybe we should appreciate our situation a little bit more. At least none of us have the comedic qualities to make a video like this.
-
"I'll see you Sunday". Excellent.
-
"You are a factory of sadness. I'll see you Sunday."
We've all been there!
-
Seems we have more in common than just the owner.
-
Quality, that could be any Villa fan from the past 30 years.
-
The American version of Black Country Villain.
-
Just brilliant
-
Brilliant
Spoken like a true fan - its a pity that none of the players in any of these teams actually know what its like to be a fan
The point he makes about the game being the time when we can detatch ourselves from our normal life is a relevant one - and the main reason why we all get so over the top happy with a win and so suicidal when we dont
-
I think we have all felt his pain.
-
awesome ( usa talk ) . loved it ..
-
That had me giggling away here like a mad man - loved it !! - and that is a real fan right there and as above the ending is just brilliant !!
-
Sporting pain is a universal language.
At least the NFL team I love is currently providing me with joy (Green Bay).
I've been following american football since 1983 and in all that time the Browns have been awful.
At least Villa have had moments in the sunshine since then.
-
Brilliant!
You are a factory of sadness. I know exactly how he feels. How many weekends have the Villa ruined..
-
Theatre od Dreams
Stadium of Light
Factory of Sadness.

The American version of Black Country Villain.
Almost, but the "I'll see you Sunday" comment changes things!
-
Proud history,bright future,factory of Sadness.
That could be put on the envelope sent to season ticket holders next year.
-
Awesome vid - captures the moment for any true fan; the bile followed by the renewed commitment. I love it - the guy should go up on the Browns' wall of fame (there's probably loads of space there).
-
On the basis that most of us Villa fans do not have the first clue about what is happening on an American Football field and most Cleveland Brown fans have no understanding of "soccerrrrr", we should all swap.
We can then cluelessly watch each others teams in blissful ignorance thinking that what we are seeing is good instead of the aforementioned factory of sadness.
-
Excellent, he really sums up following a team for me.
Desperation, pain, saddness
And continued loyalty through it all
-
That is really class... absolutely brilliant... sums it all up really!
-
Haha. Nice punchline.
-
Superb.
-
Any chance we could get a combined thread with some Browns fans?

Haven't they got to a couple of AFC Championship games in that period? I know its not pulling up trees but still.......

How many of you have tried to get 'factory of sadness' into a conversation today?

See you Sunday. Brilliant.

The late eighties were good years for the Browns, 3 AFC Championship games (losses to Denver). Not so much since then.

Glenn Peen hasn't posted for a while, but give it a go, sure.
-
Fantastic Video!
-
Absolutely brilliant. I could not empathise anymore with the last statement. Many was a time that I walked away from VP filled with anger, only to look over my shoulder and realise I'd be doing it all again in two weeks.
Someone really ought to re-create it for Villa.
-
Brilliant.

Comparing "apples to oranges". As someone who lives in Canada and the U.S.A. (and having a wife from outside Birmingham U.K.) there really is no comparison in English football to the Cleveland Browns. For instance, there is no relegation in the NFL. If there was, Cleveland would never ever be in the "Premier League" of American football. They'd probably be fighting to stay in the "Championship". The Grey Cup winners of the CFL would probably give them a good game. Hell, LSU or Alabama of the NCAA might even be competitive. The threat of relegation is our friend and I hope that some owners do not get their desire of having a "relegation free" Premier League.

In fairness, I had forgotten about those.

The Randy Browns (ie not the team that is now the Balmer Ravens) have made the playoffs just once, as a Wild Card in 2002. They lost to the Steelers in the playoffs

No CFL or NCAA Football team could compete with an NFL team, fact.

I think it is more a figure of speech. The guys that don't make the NFL travel to Canada to play in the CFL, if there are spots available. It is a slightly different style game too.
Oh, I realized many of you might not be aware but the guy that makes that video is a comedian and Cleveland is one of his subjects. He also did this one: http://youtu.be/ysmLA5TqbIY

While i was a student, and for a year or so after, I spent summers / extended holidays travelling around the US, mainly by delivering cars, or using Greyhound buses.
I spent a fair amount of time in most major cities, but the scariest experience i had was having to spend a few hours at the Greyhound station in Cleveland late at night.
I've never seen such a high concentration of absolute mentals since then. It was in the late 80s, so Cleveland may have changed in the meantime, but wow, what a place it was back then.

My inlaws are Riders fans, although we all live in Winnipeg now.
I do not have a CFL team yet lol

They are everywhere!
-
from the Brown's Board
I'm leaving 80* weather, taking off four days of work, flying 1200 miles to see the Browns beat the 1-7 Rams ... if they lose I will take a giant apeshit on the 50 yardline ... while holding up a sign that says "This one's for you, Randy ... you midget soccer-loving homo".
Does Leighton have a banner in mind for a reply?!?!?!
-
They really are shit arn't they
Wonder what makes Randy keep it all going - sense of history, family pride?

Goes some way to explaining why he's focussing on them right them. They sound like a proper car crash

They've probably been the most consistently bad side in American Football over the 10 years that I've been watching American Football. With the American draft system and easier fixtures for poorer teams, it is quite an impressive feat to be so bad year on year.

The Brown's problem begin with continuity, the fans consistently blame the coach and a new one is brought in and the mess begins again. This year the offense was revamped to play a different style (think going from a 4-3-3 to a 4-5-1), however the labor negotiations limited the teams contact with players before the season...so they started out in a HUGE whole, again. So the team is doing bad and the fans are calling to replace the coach, again.
