A late winner for our youngsters secures a 2-1 win away at Fenerbache in the NextGen tournament. Johnson and Kinsella with the goals. This result leaves Villa with 6 points from 3 games.

I'm liking the look of Johnson more and more, partly because he looks like Edgar Davids and partly because I loaned him of Fifa and he tore up league 1.
-
How the hell are we passing off Mark Kinsella as a youngster? :o
Well done the Villa young lions.
-
Would be handy if Fener could win their 2 remaining home games
-
Good stuff. Let's hope that there are highlights like the last match.
-
What are our chances like for progressing? Who have we got left to play and how do you progress from the league stages?

Think its Rosenborg and some team I've never heard of Ajax or something? To qualify it's top 2 from the four groups. The organisers picked the 16 clubs who they considered to have the best academies in Europe ;)

Incidentally, don't know if mentioned earlier. We've signed a two-year deal so we're definitely in this next season too.

Excellent. I think this is a great idea.
-
Think I'll make an effort to go to the next couple of games. Seen them on AVTV and they look an exciting group.
Daniel Johnson looks an excellent prospect as does 16 year old Greilish, to be honest there are several who look pretty useful so it will be interesting to see how they develop.
-
Great win for the babbies!
-
Kinsella? :-s

Anorak time:
This must be the furthest any youth team in the country has traveled for a proper competitive game.
-
It will be good experience playing against foreign team and foreign stadium and fans. It might help us to prepare for European Football if we somehow manage to get in top 4.
-
We play Rosenborg next Weds evening at home if anyone is interested. The last home game against the Turks was a cracking display.
-
Almost definitely going on Wednesday, why not.
-
It's great that the young lads are getting this kind of experience.
But I'm kind of surprised the tournament exists, purely from a financial side. It must be quite expensive sending 30-odd member of staff/players to Turkey and Norway (who is the other team in the group) with feck all gate and tv money to make up for it.

I can see what you're saying, but even if it is loss-making I'd rather the club spent it on that than a second string team sent like lambs to the slaughter to a match in Russia with the manager having given up on the competition. Or Habib Beye's wages. We certainly needlessly waste money in other areas of Villa spend at the moment that I think the club should be more wary of.

Agree.
We could have done much more in Europe had MO'N been brave enough to go for it.
It was the one thing that really annoyed me with him.
It would be great to see a big gate at the Rosenburg game.

Might see you there then.
-
I'm definitely going.
-
Bump this up as its tomorrow night... and I will definitely be going.
Good luck to the future stars!

Apart from the Hong Kong 7's every year!

'Proper competitive.' The 7s is a seven-a-side friendly tournament.
-
Just saw the Rosenborg result! Fantastic!!!
-
A reasonable first half with a sluggish start but sublime in the second half at times.
The last goal was great.
-
I might go to the Ajax game, do they only open the Lower Trinity?
And here is the current group table.

Getting very excited by the prospect of a few of these players, Burke & Gardner both could get some first team action this season. Johnson, also, has impressed whenever I've seen him play for the reserves or Youth setup.
Maybe we get Gardner in and around the first team squad now, and send the other 2 out on loan?
