1-1
Bent 16
Dunne (og) 33
Cuckoo!
-
0-0 in what is the worst game of football since time began.
Either this or a 5-0 drubbing, but I'm feeling confident.
-
I`m going to watch the game in the pub with my eyes tightly shut and fingers in my ears
I fear the worst for this game - don
-
I`m going to watch the game in the pub with my eyes tightly shut and fingers in my ears
Make sure you ask for a couple of straws then!
I'm optimistic - I think we'll turn up this time.
Still lose though.
-
I think we'll play better in this but come away with a 3-1 defeat with there 2nd and 3rd coming in the last 15.
-
Strong chance there will be no Aguero or Balletolli for them
3-1 to them Bent for us Dzekox2 and Silva for them
-
I fear a drubbing. Our midfield will be overrun and Hutton's shortcomings will be exposed. We'll resort to hoofball, which will result in the ball coming straight back at us at the feet of players who can actually pass to each other and score. Bent totally isolated. Gabby will get one. AMC has tightened the defence so only 4-1,
-
3-0 loss,
They are vastly superior in every area of the pitch, except for Given, who will prevent a cricket score.
-
AM will know whats required, this kind of game is exactly the sort that is his bread and butter....i.e. how to grind out a bore draw 0-0
-
Them 1 - 2 Us
-
Them 1 - 2 Us
Stop attention seeking ;)
-
At the time of writing I am the only one to predict a Villa win.
I am incapable of ever predicting any other result even though I am a mature, reasonably intelligent man.
Why?
-
Strong chance there will be no Aguero or Balletolli for them
3-1 to them Bent for us Dzekox2 and Silva for them
I hope Ballotelli is out, we've struggled against him whenever he's played against us.
-
Torn a new one. 0-4
-
We lost 4-0 there twice last season and both performances were truly awful. They have also considerably strengthened since then, qualified for the Champions League and won their first trophy in thirty five years... we'll dick them!
Err perhaps not I can see this being 2-0 or 3-0 to Citeh...

Every time i've been to Main Road or whatever the hek that new thing is now called we've been totally dicked, one of last seasons defeats was 'only' 3-0 though.
-
I'm finding it quite difficult to see this as anything other a severe tonking for us.
-
Given and Dunne should be heading into this game with a point to prove. A clean sheet and anything is possible. Ok, so that all sounds like a cliché but I am serious. If we defend well we can frustrate them and let Petrov get stuck into Barry who knows.
0-0
-
On the basis that the performance can't be any worse than the two visits last season, I'm going for a 2-0 defeat but we can leave with our heads held high.
-
Torn a new one. 0-4
Bloody hell, I'll have what you're drinking. Can't see us scoring four. Three, maybe but never four.
-
not looking forward to this 1! cant see anything other than a city win,3-0 to them.
-
It's a nailed on shoeing. 3-0 to them; Joe Hart hat trick
-
Them 1 - 2 Us
Stop attention seeking ;)
I dread to think what your reaction would have been had I gone with my first thought of a 4-1 win! ;D
-
City 1-0 Villa
-
0-0 in what is the worst game of football since time began.
I'll go with that one.
-
Barring one performance in recent history we always get beat up there. I'd love it to be different, but can't really see it.
I won't be doing the team talk!
-
Not a good one for us I feel, 3-0 drubbing.
-
Looking at the OS tonight there are still tickets left out of
the 1700 allocated.Surely this is not correct for a three o clock kick off
on Saturday?
Them 4-1 Us.
-
We need to get a result at places like mancity away if we are to finish 4th this season. So go for a win and come away with at least a draw.

Off the Premier League website...
Manchester City v Aston Villa (Kick-off 3pm)
Referee: A Taylor. Assistants: D Bryan, A Halliday
Fourth Official: L Mason
Match Delegate: S Howey
PGMO: J Worrall
Now the only A Taylor on the Premier League list is Anthony Taylor, who is from Manchester.
No need to worry though - he's from the Withe n Shaw area so he's bound to be one of us!
-
4-0 to City I hope I'm wrong but Can't see it.
-
I'm boldly going for a draw
Given MOM 0-0
-
2-2.
that is all.
-
We knew this was comming up, This has all the Hallmarks of a comfortable home win. I just hope that our team does not feel that way and thiers do.
-
2-2. Us to go 2-0 up in the first half, get a bit panicky and hang on for a point in the end. Gabby and Collins with the goals.
-
Man City 7 Villa 8 - another Villa thriller.
-
Our biggest premiership defeat. Probably not the best team we've faced or the best organised, but I smell a whipping
-
Our biggest premiership defeat. Probably not the best team we've faced or the best organised, but I smell a whipping
This season so far would mean 1-0 to them.
-
I'm normally optimistic.
We're gonna get twatted 3-0
(And that's being optimistic - I was going to put 5-0!)
-
3-3. Dzeko 12, 37, 44. Bent 51, Collins 69, Agbonlahor 83.
-
1-0
Late Bent Winner.
-
2-0 Citeh with them getting the 2nd late on after long periods of valiant defending. Can't see us handling thier midfield at all. A midfield of Nasri, Silva and Y.Toure scares the living crap out of me up against ours.
Nothing to to lose though and a good (understatement) test...they will be 1st or 2nd this season for sure...
-
Lets not forget that as great a set of individuals they are they also have their own issues with all those ego's
I think we can frustrate them - the longer it goes without conceding we could pull off a decent draw
Concede early and we could get bollocked
-
Hard to call anything other than a Man City win here. The manner of it though will be interesting and tell us a lot about where we're going under AM.
A drubbing with heads dropping will show some problems, yet a battling performance and narrow defeat would say to me we're going in the right direction.
-
Another draw, although we'll all be a lot happier with this one I think
-
3-3
Ireland (o.g.) 34
Given (o.g.) 46
Dunne (o.g.) 79
Milner (o.g.) 8
Taylor (o.g.) 13
Barry (o.g. (pen)) 90+2
-
We gonna sneak this one with a Gabby header to win it 2.1.

Them 4-1 Us.
Might be a backlash to last seasons's FA Cup disgrace up there.

True. I travelled there twice in the space of 2 months last season, witnessed 2 of the most spineless and depressing Villa performances in recent years, and had to endure 7 Poznans just a few yards from my face.
I'm not ready mentally to return yet.
-
I can't see us winning up there, I can't see anyone winning up there. So, maybe we'll lose.
-
Narrow defeat but we'll make it hard for them and the press will be complimentary about City's patience and persistence and we'll barely get a mention.
-
They'll lead us to the kitchen table, pull our trousers down, bend us over and give us a right royal rogering!
The defence will try valiantly but midfield will be so overrun that I fear a 5 or 6 niller.

If we go in thinking we'll lose, we'll take a hammering.
I just want the players to put the effort in and actually try and come away with something.
If we don't (which is more than likely), then at least we can say we tried - which is something we didn't do enough of last season...
-
I shall be working in my pub but it is on Sky Germany so I will have the remote at the ready to watch come dine with me if it goes tits up....however I think 1-1 D Bent 10 mins........someone else 90+6
-
On a positive note, we met get on in the first hour of Match Of The Day!?
-
3-0
-
a hard earned point. I think Shay, Dunney and Ireland (hopefully he's fit) will want to put on a bit of a show, and we overall won't fold like cheap tents as we did last season. Worst case, we'll lose, but the very least I want to see is a fight to the end. Norwich really did themselves proud at Man U last game, and McLeish showed against Arsenal in the cup final that reputations are there to be shot at. We have nothing to lose and much to gain from the performance and attitude we display against a team everyone expects us to lose against.
-
I'm not sure. 2 early goals (to them) and we'll get battered. If we hold on 'till half time then we've got a chance as they may get stroppy. Don't want to lose to a jammy dunnesque own goal or anything controversial like a dodgy pen etc that would just confirm their new big club status.
Sooo if it's 0-0 in the second half we will at some stage create a chance which hopefully will be a 'in the box quarter sniff of a chance'which Bent will take or a sprinting header on the run gabby finish (he's fxxxing ace at them) and then it's down to Shay to secure the points.
1-0 Villa, bring it on
-
The only way we got a result last season when we played them at home was to nick a goal and spend the other 90 minutes playing 10 men, the subs, the ball boys and the St Johns' Ambulance team behind the ball.
That said the manager is obviously the master in suppressing opponents, but if we give away an early goal, we could have real problems. We have to play the defence through offence tactic to get something, but can't see it.
-
I think they'll have to work very hard to beat us, but will do so. 1-0. I don't see us getting turned over. Maybe we've ridden some luck defensively, so hopefully we don't fall apart. However if it does remain tight and we can frustrate them, there's always the chance Gabby and Bent can nick a goal. We are also waiting for City to falter, which at some point I believe they will do this season. I fully expect Utd and Chelsea to be the top 2 and City to be chasing.
-
Silva fucking terrifies me. BBC taking the piss out of (Aston) Villa now. Piss off.
-
Silva fucking terrifies me. BBC taking the piss out of (Aston) Villa now. Piss off.
Just saw that. Who can blame them though with Silva playing the way he is for Spain, although against Scotland.
Villa's contingent of players in the best team in the world = 0.
-
Ireland cannot play in this i'd rather Heskey's presence and i'd rather Herd instead of Hutton.
-
Ireland cannot play in this i'd rather Heskey's presence and i'd rather Herd instead of Hutton.
I've a feeling AM may drop Hutton for Saturday
-
When Lee-ha! back?
-
When Lee-ha! back?
Not for ages
-
2-0 loss :(
-
Silva vs. Hutton. Wow.
-
Mcleish somehow got a 0-0 up there last season. However the season before SHA lost 5-1....
4-1 City, just a game to write off.
-
Ireland cannot play in this i'd rather Heskey's presence and i'd rather Herd instead of Hutton.

I hope so.
-
Cuellar could play right back. I'd probably rest bannan after his exploits. I'd play petrov and delph or possibly Clark as a screen. Gabby left. N'zogbia right. Ireland more attacking but if not fit delph.
-
I've just checked the kick-off time for this and it's on Saturday at 3pm.
I'm sure it was originally a Sunday televised game or am I hallucinating?
-

It was - until the Champions League draw dictated that City play Villarreal on Tuesday. And the Real Villa on Saturday.
-
Dont think I can handle listening to or watching this. I've accepted a painful defeat already.
-
Think we'll lose but hopefully won't be the debacle of recent visits there.
If we're really lucky we might scrape a draw, cant see it though
-
I've got a sneaky feeling we'll barely get out of our half, we won't have a shot but we'll frustrate them and get a draw. Either that or we'll get lamped 4-0.
The midfield area worries me. David Silva v Stiliyan Petrov is a massive mis-match and Stan will be shagged after 30 minutes chasing him round. I think Petrov or headless chicken Delph could get sent off late on.
-
I think that we can safely say that our unbeaten run will come to end by 5pm on Saturday
-
I'm going for 1-1. Gabby will have their defence at sixes and sevens and Bent will poach one from the space created. I reckon we'll score early on, will battle valiantly before Dunne nods one past Given in the 98th minute.
-
Our first defeat of the season. But not the hammering some are predicting.
2-1 but I'm praying for a draw.
-
Silva vs. Hutton. Wow.
Stephen Hawkings vs Hutton would concern me the way
Hutton has been performing.
-

The absolute ultimate in Villa-ness.
I even know how it'd pan out for me. I'd find it unbearable to watch, turn it off with 15 mins to go. Having given it some time for the match to end, I'd take a peek at the match thread, whilst praying it had ended well, and through my fingers see a sequene of very short, mainly one word posts.
I'd look properly and see it is a succession of people saying "shit!" or "FFS" or "bollocks", and that would be that.
-
It's a game to write off, so anything other than a shooing will be a bonus.
You never know what can happen though...
-
I'll be on my bike from Brum to London, which is a relief. can't see anything but a comfortable home win
-
It's a game where I'm more interested in how we play than the result. Their wealth has made it an uneven contest but if we play without fear and give it a go I'll be satisfied.
-
1-1 A. Johnson 37 mins, D.Bent 81 mins
-
Corals are offering Villa at 7/1.
No self respecting Villa fan can refuse those odds. Go on put 10p. on it.
-
I wonder if we'll try and shore up the midfield, I can't imagine he'll start Bananaman and Ireland.
If fit, Clacker Clark deserves a run-out.
-

Haha. This.
-
I can see it being like the Chelsea game a couple of seasons back, I turned off after the 4th went in... wasn't until later that evening I saw the full horror story of the final score.
Fair play to anyone brave enough to go up there and watch it for real.
-
I expect us to be comprehensively beaten but not embarressed.
2-0 to them.
-
I'm looking forward to going to Manchester. If we lose I might entertain myself by doing this..
-
Our next game is the Baggies.
This Saturday is a write off...we're in for a hiding.
4-1 Citeh
But all could change by the presence of one man .... http://www.birminghammail.net/birmingham-sport/aston-villa-fc/aston-villa-news/2011/10/13/aston-villa-emile-heskey-is-our-franz-beckenbauer-says-alex-mcleish-97319-29587304/
-
I think we will lose this one 3 or 4 nil - hope I am wrong but fear the worst
-
Hate to say this but Delph will get sent off if played. Put Clarke in the middle at least we will win the aerial battle to release some pressure. Got to play Gabby and Bent up front or they will be knocking it about without any pressure to bring there whole defence into our half ..........
-

To be fair, I thought something like this before we went to Arsenal last season.
Much as I like the above idea about Clark coming in, McLeish seems reluctant to start him so I don't think he'll bring him in for this one.
-
On face value we should get stuffed,McLeish waxing lyrical about Silva on MOTD isn't helpful either,EVERYONE knows his ability, its up to US to step up!
We have the firepower,do we have the belief?!
-

I don't know if he necessarily dislikes Clark... he's been injured for most of the season. I doubt very much we'll change a winning team unless Bannan or AN Other is carrying a knock.
-
We will get beaten but it won't be a whacking
-
Can't see we'd play the diamond again up there. I expect the same players, if fit, in a 451. Is Ireland likely to be fit?
-
Corals are offering Villa at 7/1.
No self respecting Villa fan can refuse those odds. Go on put 10p. on it.
15/2 at William Hill - had £5 left in my account after the England game....was worth a punt

Haha. This.
Seems scarily feasible, very scarily.
-
Sky reckons our injury doubts will all be fit. I'd thus play:
Given - cuellar, Collins, dunne, warnock - petrov, Clark - bannan Ireland gabby - bent
-
Clark is a good shout - far more suited to a defensive midfield role than Delph and less likely to give away silly fouls. As others have mentioned the most important thing to me is how Villa play, rather than the result.
It does need SOMEONE to get a surprise result against Man City just to halt the depressing procession this season is becoming.
-
Fulham?
-
Got a feeling Shay given is going to have a blinder.
-
My head says defeat my heart says win :)
Im going for a defeat
-
I think I'd go with this team...
Given
Hutton
Collins
Dunne
Warnock
Clark
Delph
Petrov
Heskey
Agbonlahor
Bent
Like a diamond in midfield. Clark holding. Heskey linking up the midfield and forwards.
-
We more often than not get a good hiding up there even if we are riding high,so i can't see anything other than a 3-0 City win with either Milner or Barry sure to score.
-
Lose 4 -1 Defence about to be shown up
-
Well who ever we play, when ever we play them i think we will win. No change for this one. 1-2. Bent and Bannan for us. Milner for them.
-
Got a feeling Shay given is going to have a blinder.
I've got a feeling he'll need to!
I think Gabby and Bent can give them problems and that our defense will be tough to breach, but the midfield is where we'll struggle most against them. Because of that we probably won't get enough ball to Gabby or Bent and the defense will be over worked. Should AM be able to do something tactically that solves the midfield problem then he'll deserve a lot of praise, even though he's more likely to get abuse for another nil nil.

-
First upset of the season for Man City this, and of the day, I'm going for Villa 2-1, this or we will be on the end of something not worth thinking about.
N'Zogbia's first and a first half goal, Man City to equalize just after the break.
The mighty Gabriel Agbonlahor to get the winner in the last 20mins............................Its down to him, every bit as good as anything Man City can throw up.
or.......
I can see us getting thrashed out of sight.
-
Aguero not playing still they have Silva ;( 2-0
-
Aguero not playing still they have Silva ;( 2-0
and Balotellis fit :(
-
Aguero not playing still they have Silva ;( 2-0
and Balotellis fit :(
Ballotelli's my main worry.
As for us, i would'nt change an unbeaten team to be honest.
-
I think we are going to end up with an arsehole so big Evel Knievel could pop wheelies in it.
-
I'd worry about giving their full backs too much space, like Van Aanholt was given for Wigan. I'd play Gabby and N'Zogs high and wide with Petrov, Bannan and Delph/Clark in the middle.
-
our unbeaten run comes to an end
4-1 City
-
Mancini is talking about resting players that are tired. Can someone who lives up that way find David Silva's house and hang around outside making lots of noise. I've done my bit by making him my Fantasy team captain, which means if he does play he'll be shit.
-
Feeling optimistic, 1-1 Gabby.
-

I think thats the funniest thing Ive read this year. And so true.
-
-
No way I can see that happening tomorrow, we will never win a corner (just joking)!
-
If that's anything to go by (which it isn't), lets hope we don't!
-
I think Citeh are going to "lay more tube" than the Alaska pipeline and our arsehole is going to look like Snow Hill tunnel. We are going to be able to carry a bowling ball and six armadillos no hands for the rest of our lives.
-
City aren't all that! All we have to do is go at them and keep the ball like Bayern did....
-
Yes, but I just hope that we don't end up with an arsehole big enough for a motor scooter to turn around in.
-
City aren't all that! All we have to do is go at them and keep the ball like Bayern did....
Our biggest problem is we can't keep the ball. The first half v QPR highlighted this more than any game. We struggled to put more than 3 passes together. The tactic of our defenders (and goalkeeper ) hoofing the ball upfield doesn't help either. If we can't keep the ball tomorrow we are going to get slaughtered. This needs to be addressed. How difficult can it be to pass the ball to a team mate ?
-
3 0 city, they will tear us a new arsehole unfortunately, not looking forward to it
-
I still think we're going to end up with an arse wide enough to, concomitantly, hold a bob-sleigh race and a CBSO concert.
-
Oh the joy of the English Language.
-
Darren, do you think we are going to lose?
-
I just think we are going to end up with an arse big enough for four monkeys on mopeds and the Grand National
-
I still think we're going to win. It's only Man City, fuck em, we're Aston Villa.

I so hope you are right.
-
We've never done well up then even before they got all that bloody money. I think we'll get stuffed tomorrow 4-0.
-
Their view on the game, which for many of them seems to be that they are a bit wary of us. Quite a few nice comments about Wee Barry as well, but there must be something about playing in blue that gives them an inferiority complex about the Villa that results in the need to use the term "Vile Park".

This should be McCleish's entire team talk.

Hell yes.

I'm amazed there hasn't been any fuss made about the fact the ref is from Manchester, and fairly young and inexperienced too for the Premier Lge.
Seems a needless pressure to put on him, particularly with City's next league game being the most important Old Trafford derby in about 40 years. Get a big decision wrong in this one where a key City player either gets sent off wrongly and suspended for next week, or fails to get sent off when he should have been, and the ref might have to go avoid going out for a while.
Daft choice, but good luck to him. I hope all the Villa goals are clear cut decisions!

I fear brave, but defeated. 2-0.

I fear we may be needing all the astro turf in Houston to wipe our arses with after this game.

Who is the ref?
We'd need Nigel Kennedy as the ref to have a chance in this one.

We cannot play posesssion football.
We tried it under Houllier and the players didnt like it, so they rebelled. So Houllier tried to get rid of these players and bring in players that can keep the ball like Makoun, unfortunatly in my opinion Houllier hasnt benn able to carry on and we have got Mcleish.
Now all our players are happy because they are back to hoof and run football, which is a real shame for us fans.
I fear this will be exposed more than ever today against a top side.

Who is the ref?

Only if he's from a time before football was invented by SKY.

Off the Premier League website...
Manchester City v Aston Villa (Kick-off 3pm)
Referee: A Taylor. Assistants: D Bryan, A Halliday
Fourth Official: L Mason
Match Delegate: S Howey
PGMO: J Worrall
Now the only A Taylor on the Premier League list is Anthony Taylor, who is from Manchester.
No need to worry though - he's from the Withe n Shaw area so he's bound to be one of us!

Big fan of Richard Dunne but him and Collins are gonna get destroyed today with Warnock and Hutton likely to give away a penalty. City will move the ball about with great little runs and its not our defenses forte to defend against pace

It was before we adopted black socks.

Both Bent and Gabby are 9/1 to score first. However good Man City are, those are pretty good odds.
