The bottom of the barrel is being scraped, titles-wise.

Not too sure its fair to say that those of us who are worried about the direction the club is currently heading in are drama queens-we love the club and have every right to be concerned about the financial ability to compete and randys ambitions for the future.
Granted he has done a good job in the 1st 4 yrs of his tenure but the financial climate now is very much different to when he took over and it may well be that he cannot afford to compete at the highest level anymore-not drama queens but concerned and worried fans who love aston villa.

I think that Dave (and i'm sure he'll correct me if i'm wrong) is referring to people who think that the club is going to hell in a handcart on the back of a story from a normally unreliable paper on a slow newsday.

I think most people acknowledged that the article was mainly BS. It's Randys no show and GK's disappearance from the forums that have raised more of a concern and as Dave quire rightly points out,the deafening silence is doing Randy and the board no favours

It's not about that story per se, and I appreciate there's a difference between genuine concern (which I share) and fuckofflerneryourekillingmyclub. I really don't want to start the debate off here as well, but I can't understand how the most PR-savvy, connect-with-the-fans club in the league has suddenly become if not the worst, then no better than the average.

What's this about us having a good record at Eastlands before they came into money? We've only ever won there once and lost on every other miserable trip. I clearly remember the one we one as it was under MON (Maloney free kick) and some City fans on the way out were moaning how lucky we were to have Randy bankrolling us!

I like your articles Dave, they always carry an air of calm. I think the PR taking a nose dive is largely due to the so-near-yet-so-far nature of Lerner's ownership to date. Some fans thought we were going to spend like Man City and keep spending and the realisation of it drying up has been hard to take for some if not all and even harder to articulate for a minority (see your fuckofflerneryoucunt brigade). Also think it's down to a complete about turn with regards communication - from touchy feely 'The General' to a business plan.
Anyway, nice piece as per usual.
